  1. I didn't love the ending but this is a really good book.
  2. Bazemore is a good defender who can switch across the perimeter, a good shooter who doesn't need the ball (though he averaged 3.5 assists this year and wouldn't be completely useless in that regard), makes basically the same money as Anderson so salary is irrelevant in a trade for Anderson, and the three seasons previous to the last one, he played 73+ games each season. Last year he played 65 games but missed the last 15 games with a bone bruise in his knee which, I'm just guessing here, wouldn't have caused him to miss 15 games if he was on a team trying to actually win games. So yeah, I don't see how anyone who wants a positive outcome for the Rockets could be against Anderson/1st for Bazemore.
  3. Definitely seemed like a close DJ win to me but was close enough (and nothing really big happened) that it could go either way.
  4. Why does his unwillingness to run it twice have any impact on calling or shoving here?
  5. Perkins was a three year starter and 2nd team all big 12 as a senior. That's not a bust at all even if we would have liked for him to be even better.
  6. I'm half way through Children of Time at the moment. Really enjoying it so far.
  7. I have a hard time seeing the Nets trading Carroll's expiring contract for an extra year of Anderson. Maybe they could deal Crabbe though. I would love to see the Rockets deal Anderson/picks/rights to overseas players to Portland for Harkless and Aminu but I don't think I'd really call that realistic.
  8. By adding a 4th scoring option after Harden/Paul/Gordon who can actually create their own shot.
  9. There is zero difference in a 30 point loss and a 50 point loss in the playoffs, so if that is what you're worried about you should probably worry about something else.
  10. Melo doesn't provide much if any direct value for the Rockets against the Warriors but if he helps take the burden off of Harden/Paul in the regular season and rest of the playoffs so they are fresher and healthier when they match up with the Warriors again, that's easily worth it.
  11. Yes? At the moment running with the 2s means he's going to be on the court with one of Harden/Paul along with guys like Gordon, Green, and Anderson. There will be plenty of space for Melo there.
  12. Keeping the young guys instead of dumping them all to try to bring in a star is one of the only thing the Lakers have done right after signing Lebron. The other being only signing the washed up vets they signed to one year deals to try again next offseason. The Lakers adding another real star or a couple of borderline guys to go with Lebron and the young guys gives them a legitimate path to contention. Dumping their young talent to bring in one star and then trying to fill out the roster with one dimensional role players would just put them back in the same position at Cleveland but in a conference where they may not even get out of the first round.
  13. That's such a ridiculously bad take as to what happened in that series but also isn't really relevant in regards to regular season positioning. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Rockets be the 1 seed again. They won 65 games last year. Right now it looks like Ennis/Melo are replacing Ariza/Luc and honestly, I don't think that really hurts the Rockets for the regular season. They actually probably have more depth with Gerald Green being on the team for the whole season and MCW and De'Anthony Melton replacing the assortment of G League talent that got minutes at times on the perimeter. Then you factor in that the Warriors give zero shits about the regular season and are going to ease Cousins into the rotation slowly, they are the heavy favorites for the title for good reason and can coast to ~60 wins but a relatively healthy Rockets won't be far from that in the regular season.
  14. Who can't shoot but apparently has very good defensive advanced stats.
  15. There is still plenty of time for moves to be made. I don't think the Rockets will be able to pull off a complete salary dump of Anderson but there are guys out there (Batum, Hardaway Jr, Fournier, Deing) with contracts a year longer than Anderson's whose teams might want to get rid of them.
  16. This hurts but it does seem like Gary Clark is a ready made 9th man on an NBA roster so I'm hoping Mbah a Moute can just step into a starting role and Clark could move into that spot on the bench if the Rockets aren't able to replace Ariza elsewhere.
  17. Bazemore's contract is the same length as Anderson, so I just don't see why the Hawks would do it. Since Batum has an extra year and Charlotte loves big white guys, it seems like a Batum for Anderson trade would be perfect.
  18. Harden was horrible from 3 against the Warriors but no matter how much people want to hate him, he was still very easily the Rockets best player against Golden State.
  19. Which is why he's getting into shape for next season... It's like he realizes that he needs to be in better shape because of how last season went and now he's trying to improve that weakness.
  20. What does that even mean? Seems like it would make sense for a guy to focus on getting into better shape specifically because he had an underwhelming season that tailed off towards the end. If he retired from basketball, maybe then it would be too little too late but it seems like he's trying to improve for next season.
  21. Yeah... that's not accurate at all. Players drafted from high school were pretty successful in general. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_high_school_draftees#List
  22. I really liked Seveneves. It's probably my favorite book I've read (for the first time) over the last few years. That said, parts one and two were great while I think part three was only good.
  23. No one is going to just take the Ryan Anderson contract for nothing, but seems like the Rockets could try to flip it for an even worse contract but still useful player like Nic Batum. Nerlens Noel would be really smart to take a one year deal to play defense and catch lobs as Capela's backup to try to get a big deal the next year. Luc, Ariza, and Green should all be brought back.
  24. How is an elite defensive combo guard who shoots 40% from 3 anything like Kawhi coming out of college?
  25. This series is at least going 6 games no matter what happens. If Capela/Gordon have a larger impact than Draymond/Klay, the Rockets will win in 6 or 7. The Rockets will keep switching everything on defense but I would expect Harden to start on Draymond a decent amount of the time while Tucker, Ariza, and Mbah a Moute take turns guarding Durant.
