There was a candid moment on twitter a very long time ago between two political journalists. Trump had said something controversial about immigrants, they had reported it objectively, and were berated with calls of dishonest media. To cover Trump objectively is effectively covering him in a negative light, was the gist of the conversation between the journos. I think you're falling for the "both sides" trap here.
I think Obama was genuine in his desire to compromise. He did bend over backwards many times to appease Republicans, but I don't think he had another choice. Your rhetoric coming from Obama would've destroyed any chance he could've had at getting bills passed. It didn't end up mattering because the republicans still blocked everything, but he never gave up in his attempts to compromise.
If it truly was about ego, I think you would've seen him snap early on in his presidency.
Especially in the SEC, where Auburn/Bama/UGA/LSU are all going to get elite recruits year in year out. Fisher's a decent QB developer but the rest of the roster has a ways to go before they match those teams.
I'm interested to see how this plays out. Will other potential Dem nominees echo her statements or will Gillibrand be the lone candidate? During the Dem primaries, this is definitely going to get asked.
I'm not sure where else to put this, but it was a fascinating bit of polling:
Democrats Are Wrong About Republicans. Republicans Are Wrong About Democrats
Really goes to show how wide the chasm is when it comes to guessing the other party's demographics.
People bring up that Texas could flip blue, but that isn't likely to happen for some time. Even if it does, it looks like the midwest states are going to flip red so it could even out.
Honestly, I don't see a need in worrying about such hypotheticals when we have no idea how 2020 will go down. You're projecting what the GOP did onto the Dems.
No one in their right mind can support Trump while complaining about some breakdown of discourse. He's attacked political opponents, disabled people, media, and lied as much as he possibly can.
Politely asking a govt official to leave is hardly equivalent.
They have:
Starkel (Rs. So.)
Mond (So.)
Blumrick (Rs. Fr.)
Foster (Fr.)
They need attrition/transfers before they think about taking more than one qb in any class.
While it is incredibly tone deaf, people should not take the bait from the Trump's. They'd rather that people discuss anything but family separation, or the new healthcare bill the GOP will attempt to pass.
Additionally, what we did to those people is a freaking atrocity. Will the US now be more lenient to them? Because they deserve a better life after what the govt just put them through.
