  1. I really wish Gravel would go away. He went on a holocaust denier's radio show or whatever to promote the idea that 9/11 was an inside job. He's exactly the kind of person the Dems should not allow on a debate stage.
  2. Jesus, so San Antonio both has a wall, and is apparently a war zone to Trump??
  3. My understanding from a friend who wants to "Abolish ICE" is that they despise the actions ICE has become associated with, and that it's best to start over from scratch. The agency has had nothing but controversies , and I'd imagine a good chunk of people are willing to hit the reset button or see some changes to ICE. I also wonder how much of that is starting with an extreme position so that some changes can be negotiated if and when the issue hits congress under a D president. The GOP ran on making the EPA an enemy, and today they're able to justify running a toned down version of the EPA as a result. Did they actually abolish the EPA? No, certainly not. Did they undercut it? Of course.
  4. The saddest part is the slow realization that you can't engage with people who are angry, and paranoid. There's plenty of less reputable charlatans. Alex Jones for one. The right wing for whatever reason attracts a lot of grifters and people willing to buy anything. Like the guy buying mushroom pills, convinced that it will cure his cancer.
  5. https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/04/i-gathered-stories-of-people-transformed-by-fox-news.html This guy wrote an awesome read about people that blame fox news for changing someone in their life for the worse.
  6. Chrispy making a fool of himself is normal. Zavala thinking that Jewish people can't be fascists is just dumb. Stephen Miller is a fascist, it's plain and simple.
  7. We've already walked into disasters by putting Miller in charge. The office politics could be holding some back from truly heinous shit. Whoever said it yesterday is right though. Nielsen will be replaced with someone worse and likely a Miller stooge.
  8. The office politics inside the Trump admin is really amazing. I never get tired of these kinds of stories.
  9. Today's Daily from the NYT featured the rise of Rupert Murdoch and his promotion of far right politics all over the world. It's well worth a listen if you have a few minutes: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/05/podcasts/the-daily/rupert-murdoch-fox-news.html?action=click&module=audio-series-bar&region=header&pgtype=Article
  10. These, meanwhile, are real and very on brand for Trump.
  11. That's a win in today's terms. Didn't matter that Trump held very few policy positions. People tuned in to him making fun of the other candidates.
  12. You're right about that. But there could be different sources talking to all three publications.
  13. There's also the case of people looking at Warren and assuming she will get the "Hillary Treatment" while also ignoring that the GOP will attack any Dem candidate so it doesn't matter who gets picked.
  14. There's the trinity. This is a whole mess.
  15. He was hit with those in 2016 as well, but I believe the tide is changing on Bernie and we won't see as many of those editorials in the future.
  16. No way? I didn't see that coming. Apologies for the interruption.
  17. To be fair, Cain has worked for the Fed before. But he's still an idiot.
