  1. Iā€™m a Vandy undergrad/Texas grad. My grandpa was a Texas grad; the family has always been Texas fans, and Iā€™ve been a die hard. While I always pull for Vandy, I hope Texas stomps them this week. Hook ā€˜em. Iā€™ll also never understand why a school that had a mascot that sounds like commode would choose a catch phrase, ā€œAnchor Downā€, that sounds like taking dump.
  2. Just back from the game! Hell of a win, the stadium emptied and there was so much burnt orange. Hook ā€˜em!
  3. Headed to Ann Arbor! Hook ā€˜em!
  4. lol. Two of the ā€œspecialā€ players on the Michigan Offense are a converted linebacker whoā€™s a 5th year player with 345 career rushing yards and a senior tight end with seven catches, ever.
  5. According to this guy: The Michigan offense has 4 special players, and the Texas offense has 3. The Michigan defense has 7 special players, the Texas defense 1. Also, Michigan apparently has 3 All-American players and Texas doesn't have any. Should we even show up, since Michigan so clearly has the talent advantage?
  6. Yes. Very good, classic French. More authentic than elegant interior.
  7. I was at the game last night. I donā€™t know how it read on TV, but Michigan basically played man/press man single high all night and dared Fresno to pass it and Fresno couldnā€™t. There wasnā€™t much to see, really. Offensively, Michiganā€™s lack of push was surprising. Also, their receivers couldnā€™t get open, and when they did Warren was not good. Orjiā€™s one pass caused an audible reaction from the crowd. It was comical. The Big House is a cool place to watch a game. But itā€™s a very shallow bowl all the way around, hence not very loud. This is also the first year of beer sales there.
  8. Yep. Iā€™m a professor at Oakland and I live in LO with my wife, also a Texas graduate. šŸ¤˜šŸ»
  9. Tbh, I donā€™t know. Casinos arenā€™t my thing. But Pontiac can be sketchy for sure. Did you leave MI?
  10. As a note, the area between Orchestra Hall and SS is fine, but IME the other directions can get desolate and sketchy quick. Also, the area around the Shinola hotel is lots of fun, and I really enjoy Le Supreme, which is located in that area.
  11. I'm a Vandy grad from the Dallas area, got a graduate degree from Texas. Some of the Vandy fandom is shitty, just like some of the student body, but there are plenty of good, dedicated fans. Even more so when considering the general nature of the product.
  12. I've taken the Wolverine a few times, typically from Detroit to Chicago. The stop in Detroit is in a fine part of town, not far from the DIA and other cool things, but the station area is not a hopping place at night. It'll likely be pretty empty, YMMV on how you feel about that. I figure you will be with other fans who make the same transportation choice, so that's probably good for feeling safe in a city you don't know. If you hang out in the station till your ride appears, you'll be fine. I'd do uber instead of parking a rental there, personally. The A2 stop is close enough to the stadium, and if you are exploring the campus it's sort of on the way to the stadium. Depends on how much you like to walk. You will get to avoid the hassle of game day parking and the traffic headed into A2. There is a lot to do there after the game, so I wouldn't worry about filling time till your return train. The train itself was always fine. Clean, charging ports, etc. I found it to be reasonably on time as long as the weather isn't crazy.
  13. This is what I did for the Michigan game this year. Hoping it works out. They havenā€™t announced the cost of the season tickets yet. Not sure what the secondary market is for Vandy games? When I went to college there, games always had lots of empty seats.
