Reminds me of my first time in a casino ever. I was 16 at the time. It wasn't Vegas, it was some riverboat or dog track with a casino in Illinois or Iowa or some shit. I'm sure it was pretty shitty, but it might as well have been the Wynn for all I knew.

Anyway, went with an older uncle who loved to corrupt the shit out of me. Walked in the door all wide eyed, put a quarter in the first slot machine I saw, pulled the lever and won $1,000 on my first pull. At that age, at that time, that was a fuck ton of money. Uncle was able to cash it out for me, which was cool.

Shitty part was that it likely ruined all gambling for me from that point forward. Spent several years learning the hard way that it doesn't usually work that way. I rarely gamble anymore. And I still blame that uncle for most of my shittiness as an unproductive member of society.

Ok State played late at WVU Tuesday night. Then at 6 on Thursday in Lubbock. Then at Waco at 4 on Saturday.

Tech has an 11am tip against K State in Manhattan on Saturday With the one home game in between

But hell. They’re young. It’ll be a growing and bonding experience

When they supposed to study for quizzes and test and such.

MISSOURI and IOWA served in the first Gulf War, so that’s not the most egregious inaccuracy in this story.

    1) No one is contacting ships 25 NM away to coordinate maneuvers and avoid collision.

    2) A US Navy ship would never communicate in Castilian Spanish over channel 16.  This conversation would happen in the international communication standard - Maritime English.

    3) Surface ships and submarines do not transit in company unless they are doing a photo op.  It would defeat the purpose of a submarine to do this.

Versions of this story have been floating around the Navy since the invention of radio.

Again, it is a funny joke.

BLT has become a pretty big chain over the last few years. Haven't been to the one in Vegas, but I'd guess you're not missing much. And I'm 100% sure you can find better steak places in Vegas.

I had always heard good things about the place but have never stayed at Bally's or made it over to the restaurant.  Like you said, there are 100's of other steak houses in Vegas.

Back in the day, Sterling Brunch was the shit.  Last time we went was 2019, and we decided that was our last time. The service was great, but the food quality and champagne offering had declined by then.

That's too bad, planned on staying at Bally's for March Madness and was looking forward to BLT.

  6. Heading out Saturday morning for a 5 night trip.  Six days in Las Vegas can be tough, thank goodness Monday - Wednesday will be Pro/Am golf.  College football Saturday and NFL Sunday with the Cowboys Sunday night.  I love the NFL in Vegas. Was out for March Madness and it was not enjoyable, town was a mess.  Hoping the Strip is back to normal.  Looking to hit my favorites and try some new restaurants.  Here's to good cards and hot dice.

    What the F is that?

Jimbo should wear a uniform where ever he goes, with a bunch of medals down one side like those North Korean generals.

    Big weekend according to reports

Had dinner at Oscar's Saturday night then walked down Fremont St. after. I've never seen it as busy as it was that night, could barely navigate the crowd and no way to find a table.  Lot's of $1,400 checks spent this weekend.  Hoops on The Strip was a great set up this year, very fun.  I've also never seen Vegas that trashy, cheap rooms and cheap flights I guess.  Hope that clears up before my next trip.

Think you said you are staying at Caesars. Would be a great time to enlist a host if you can wrangle one on your behalf to book seats for you at the sportsbook. All the major casino sportsbooks I believe have shifted now to reserving/blocking off/charging money for seats now for big events. And this includes things like a regular Saturday of college football. So that would be my first recommendation. Failing that, see what it would cost to book seats.

Lagasse Stadium closed last year, so that’s out. From what I’ve seen, the best new or redone places look to be Circa and Westgate. I would call ASAP and see how it all works for the tournament this year. Previously many of the big places would host big parties in ballrooms. Pick your favorite place and check on that too. Try Cosmo.

Last suggestion would be to “slum it” at a smaller locals casino just off the Strip. You might be surprised how much fun that can be. Places like Ellis Island casino or Tuscany Suites.

Protip: download the online betting apps (like BetMGM) and sign up for them early. The betting lines get nuts in person.

My buddy has a host at Caesars and gets comp'd Hoops On The Strip passes.  We've always been in the ballroom over at Flamingo, looking forward to how it sets up this year.

With the tables mostly only seating 3, I was hoping it was still pretty slow. I guess it'll be harder to get on. Oh well, still going so might as well make the most of it. We have another trip planned in 3 weeks too.

50% capacity come 3/15, should have room for more than 3 at the tables.
