I'll play along....Lets break this down:

"They have 7000 kids at one high school, and that isn’t an exaggeration." - Ok, the 3 Plano's have 1k less and they all suck at football. How do you explain that? I live in Frisco, where we have 10 schools and all but one are god awful. And our numbers of athletic participation (especially football) decrease every year, yet out district is still growing...

"The only reason the school is like that is so they can field the best football team possible. Academic & social environment & giving the most kids possible a chance at participating in extracurricular activities be damned." - This is 100% false. You think the only sport, club, extracurricular activity at Allen is football? Their schools, and facilities, and programs beat out most colleges. Remember, this is coming from someone who lives in Frisco. We have nice schools, but they don't come close to Allens.

"Also, their football team recruits and adds transfers in like crazy. Kyler Murray was one of those kids to top it off. In short, the school is pretty much an embodiment of all the worst elements of high school/youth sports in our society." - Good football programs recruit themselves. If you think kids don't move for athletic purposes to other schools you are crazy. In Ft. Worth they move to Aledo, in Frisco they move to Lonestar. Shoot there are tons of districts in the state that have "open enrollment" and "school choice" where you can live outside the school boundaries and still go to whatever school you want (Katy ISD- looking at you Katy HS). Also whens the last time a 5* or 4*  has transferred into Allen during HS? The last one was Kyler Murray. If you're from around this area you actually hear more about athletes leaving Allen than you do moving there.

You're either a masquerading Allen booster or a moron.  The conclusions you draw from the specious scenario you construct are those of a simpleton.

I would call the Samples news the straw that broke the camel's back. If he is that dead set against working with Herman, then fire Herman. Getting a young, up and comer with proven recruiting chops back on staff would have been a hell of a lot more useful than "preserving stability" or whatever the fucking reason for keeping Herman around is supposed to be.

Burn. It. To. The. Fucking. Ground. If it's this diseased? Kill the disease.

    Walden?

    Yes, sir.

I want to say two words to you.  Just two words.

    Yes, sir.

    Are you listening?

    Yes, I am.

I can’t dispute anything you’re saying. I just don’t see a scenario where Charlie Strong 2.0, I mean Herman gets us to 10 wins, and definitely not a top 10 finish. I want to be wrong more than anything.

This is a dumb take; for all of Herman's flaws, he can coach circles around Strong.  Let's at least attempt to intelligently hyperbolize. Even Surly at its surliest has standards.

Unless he sounds like Vince Young or does things like Vince Young or doesn't graduate or graduates with a degree in post renaissance European history or African American studies. A degree with any of the above characteristics or majors which seems to be the case with most football athletes wouldn't matter regardless of school. You think, telling me that Stanford is a better school than OU(or Texas or Aggy) is an original or a very nuanced take? Everyone is aware of that but its unlikely that he will graduate with an engineering degree. Now he could prove me wrong and might be a savant but it seems he realizes his limitations and has chosen for himself.

Football is his best shot and he is taking it. I get that him choosing OU is difficult for some of you to swallow given the orange colored goggles, but he is making the best decision for himself. And OU's draft classes compared to Stanford or anyone really when it comes to offense has proven that over and over.

Your's is a dumb, biased and a dishonest take.

Nope.  Nope.  Nope.  It doesn't matter what his Stanford major is, or his GPA.  His name on Stanford parchment  - particularly in combination with his athletic membership, however meager his contributions on the field - offer far more of a guarantee of future success and security than a football scholarship to OU.  To your implied assertion that an OU degree means the same as a UT degree for an athlete is nearly as farcical.  GTFO with your studied, cynical takes.  You're a half-wit poseur.

He’d look pretty good for his age if he just cut his hair.

Yeah, I'm shocked.  That gorgon-do has to go, but shit, knowing as much about Penders as I do, he looks amazing at this point.  The argument that he shouldn't still be around is valid if you were ever around him.  And the wife has aged better than expected, as well.

  6. Dan Jenkins and Frank Ryan were inducted into the Paschal High School Hall of Fame together my sophomore year (I think).  He made a few nice, fitting remarks.  Off camera - so to speak - he was far more entertaining.  My favorite phrase of his novels comes from Semi-Tough:  Aggies is semi rural.
