First time I saw Earl Monroe in person was in Baltimore when he was still with the Bullets.
He would back his man down, then spin in a flash to shoot his deadly jumper. He was a magician .. he was “The Pearl!”
When he got dealt to the Knicks, he and Clyde made one of the deadliest backcourts in NBA history.

What's with all the love for Kiki Vanderweghe? He was a completely soft, one-dimensional player, had he come along ten years earlier he would have washed out of the league quickly due to getting physically abused. He should be nowhere near this list. He was the perfect ABA marshmallow with a nice shot.

Jerry West. Larry Bird. Pete Maravich. Bill Walton. George Mikan. Rick Barry. John Havlicek. Dirk Nowitzki. Bob Cousy. Dave DeBusschere. In order of how they came to mind, not greatest.

What does this mean?
The kids mean ongoing, I have no clue how the 9.95ers interpret it. It's butane, Baby, simply butane.

Our lack of offensive rebounding is by design - Yacklich did the same thing at UM - so the defense gets back and set quickly. Offensively, sure, all teams go through shooting slumps, the issue is that our offensive "scheme" doesn't provide for a lot of Plan Bs or Cs, and the aimless perimeter dribbling and movement spawns a lot of bad habits, such as indecision, lack of creativity, and not recognizing openings when they occur. The pivot is usually open when it's "designed" to be, but our players are so perimeter brainwashed that they will stare down the low post until the defense reacts. Same with backdoors.

He would have been considered a top 50, probably top 10 offensive player of all time without the cheating, really. Griffey Jr pretty clearly explained when Bonds decided to roid up and it was right around the time it was obvious that Bonds was going to be a 500/500 guy anyway. Griffey Jr plead with him to stay the course, as Griffey Jr did, but Bonds couldn’t handle being one-upped by McGwire and Sosa.
So I assume it was the winter after 1998. I read Games of Shadows when it came out and that is how my memory framed it. I haven’t revisited the subject in over a decade, so feel free to fact check. Pretty sure I’m on it or close. Bonds had no fucking reason to cheat other than his personal insecurities.
Baseball is my particular thing, and you have it exactly right. Bonds was always insecure, going back to ASU, because he was never a team player and, consequently, largely unpopular with teammates. He went crazier than a shit house rat over the adoration being heaped upon McGwire and Sosa. If he wasn't going to be beloved, he would - by hook or by crook - stomp on the accomplishments of those he petulantly envied.

If I'm JD, I am closely monitoring what is going on in Tampa. It seems to me the front office brain drain is finally showing cracks in their usual solid judgment. Too many OFs, 1Bs and DH types, something has to give. They don't seem to have much faith in Nate Lowe, who is light-years better than Guzman. And with the puzzling acquisition of Margot, perhaps Arozarena may be available.

Here’s my next plan for a minor league deal.
Those defensive #s aren’t lying, but dude can mash. Bring him in for cheap, let’s see what happens.
Nah... Spy, he is the worst OF I've ever seen, and I'm old enough to have borne witness to the Rico Carty circus during the Rangers infancy. Good luck with that, Cleveland.

Hmm, unless there is something up with Kiermaier I don't get this trade at all. Tampa is already overloaded with OFs, they can't possibly find playing time for all of them.

So rumors are trade is on hold due to shady medical records.
The trade didn't fall through because of shady medical records - EVERYONE - in baseball, including the Twins, considers Graterol a reliever. It is well-known he had Tommy John in 2016. The trade fell through because ownership was somehow, incredibly, caught off-guard by the Boston fan backlash. So they used the medicals as a pretense to move the goalposts on the deal in an attempt to placate their fans. The only shady business was conducted by the gutless Red Sox ownership.

My bad, they were 5A the last time I saw them play in person. Speaking of, what happened to that little white running back they had who was averaging nearly 300 yards/game?
I'm not positive, but I thought he went to a service academy.

I think Juan is probably a TE, but he’s more of a move TE, like Liebrock. I do think he’s a much cleaner projection to TE than Hullaby, but he could possibly end up at DE.
I know Arroyo will probably be the highest rated TE in Texas, but I’m not sold on him yet. TE is inherently an extremely tough position to project and the late bloomers tend to do better, so I hope we keep that spot open until a good bit later in the cycle.
I don't know, he reminds me of Lawrence Sampleton. A lot.

Coffey's weird, we were on him way early, seemed really hyped, now there's noise we're not after him and his recent film has been meh. On the flip side, he's still getting good offers.
Campbell I get given the odd vibes.
Hasn't Campbell played for three different high schools in three years? Odd vibes indeed.

I remember literally last year they were crowing about how Jimbo beat Herman in Texas so badly that Herman had to leave the state to "fill out" his class.
That wind direction changes quickly in the BCS, doesn't it?

Angela Lansbury, Sidney Poitier, Eva Marie Saint, Lee Grant are still alive.

Barry was a lot bigger than Maravich. He was able to bang in the paint for boards. But... had Pete not had injuries (certainly not on the level of Walton) he would have been the logo.
