Lord athleticism at the bigs could be our weakness more so than the guards

This is so dumb.  Our bigs are athletic, just not graceful.  When you're not getting any help from the perimeter it's hard.  They are highly skilled and were abusing LSU early when the refs decided to swallow their whistles on one end of the court.

Some of these swings aren’t even close.

Again, this is the first game of the season, this pitcher has some filthy stuff.  And for those who have played baseball at anything above the high school level, you know that one pitch you can look foolish and then hit a screaming liner the next.  Baseball is hard.

Cross-posting from another thread for conversation - I decided to go down a historical rabbit hole:

    • Sorting by title percentage, LSU's rate is impressive for a team that's been there 19 times
    • For teams that are still annually relevant, Vanderbilt and Oregon State have very good title rates, but their overall appearances aren't very high
    • At least we're not aggy (see very bottom), or FSU, for that matter
    • Thank God college baseball is back! Let's go get number 7!
    • Note: not every team with a CWS appearance is listed, but all with a title are. Teams at the very bottom have the most appearances without a title (in descending order)

It is only fair to point out that USC under Rod Dedeaux - great teacher of the game that he was - enjoyed a similar, against the rules advantage that John Wooden and UCLA basketball enjoyed.  They bought the best players and he had no other program to challenge his blatant disregard for the rules until Jim Brock showed up in Tempe.

"Guys, I've said many times Choice was an important coach, right after I caught shit for saying he's not a great coach and needs to hit the portal more, and it's obvious he was pushed out by the staff a few weeks after getting a raise, becuase he's a good and important coach. So they gave him a raise. Then pushed him out."

I just went ahead and summed up your posts for you.

Hmm. I wonder if maybe Baker said "fuck it" because he got sick of Brandon Harris's shit. That couldn't be a thing, right?

I like to think I pay close attention to the recruiting goings on, as much as I can, anyway.  I trust your information, Sydney, so I have to assume that Harris completely fucked up a recruitment for Baker.  Hope it isn't too late for the two new hires (Joe and Dunson) to provide a firewall between Harris and the coaches.

They gave the keys to a teenager and that isn't a recipe for winning college basketball games in 2025.

It's not the optimum strategy but without said teenager we'd have lost even more games.   Tre Johnson >>>>>> Rodney Terry

    Arizona guy

    iowa state guy

    both seem gettable imo

Not sure about Otzelberger at ISU; he played there and calls it home.
I kind of like a couple of Big West coaches:  Russell Turner at UC Irvine and Joe Pasternack at UC Santa Barbara.
Sean Miller is a proven top coach.

Don't think so. Myself and some others have the opinion of "let the season play out and see what happens," but I don't think anyone is saying RT is the guy for Texas and we're making a big mistake if the right replacement is available and we let him go (absent a surprise Sweet 16 or better run).

Unfortunately for RT Sark has raised the bar pretty high in terms of our expectations of what a coach can do.

All that said I think it will still be pretty hard to fire him if we make the tournament this year, which I fully expect us to do. My guess is he gets one more year in that case, but who knows?

As we saw with Shaka CDC may be working behind the scenes to both get the right replacement and find a nice landing spot for RT so they can say it was a mutual parting of ways.

Nah, Terry would need a miracle run in the tournament to survive.  Tom Herman got kicked to the curb after 7-3 and a bowl victory.  RT is basically Tom Herman sans the personal drama.
