  1. I don't think @pmg is on Surly anymore, but there may still be a thread on the old site. He hiked the entirety of the 200+ mile Muir Trail through Yosemite alone at least once. I don't know anyone as knowledgeable about Yosemite.
  2. Poor people smoke Swisher Sweets. Race got nothin' to do with it.
  3. 351 52 78 8 30 51 .222 .303 .665 Those are his stats for the Portland Sea Dogs, Boston's AA affiliate. 8 HR, 30 RBI, 51 SB. His defense remains tremendous.
  4. And even though I was too young to see him play, how about James Saxton?
  5. 80 men tried And 80 men died Now they're buried together in the countryside. 10! 20! 30! 40! 50 or more...
  6. It's the BLT and the Holy Biscuit. Whatever they're going to charge for the fried charcuterie is too much, I've been making this for years and years for New Year's Day brunch. It's not only easy to make, but doesn't cost much for the ingredients.
  7. I'm a relic to many of you, but I remember West Campus being pretty vibrant in the early 80s summers. From Les Amis, Mad Dog and Beans, Cain & Abels to the Posse West. Disheartening to learn of its demise.
  8. Yeah, but there seems to be some musical chairs ongoing with DB recruits, us, aggies, buckeyes and tLite sounding like the lead cast.
  9. Proximity I suppose supports this, but for some reason I'm thinking Ohio St. Though I'm not as tuned in as most of you.
  10. The first break in your career is always an unforgettable moment.
  11. A sad rite of passage for parents (at least for me) when the kids fly the coop and the wife doesn't want to go to Fuddrucker's anymore. A seprate note that we always crab when there's a particularly ugly page in this forum. Congrats, Surly Degenerates, this page has been wildly entertaining. Many thanks.
  12. I'm kind of assuming it's the CB who decommitted from Tech and flipped to tOSU. Calvin Hyphen-Hunt.
  13. And yet the latter word is perfectly acceptable in the UK. Maybe we should adopt the British synonym, berker.
  14. If the Sirens or Lorelei resided in an oil spill, this is what it would look like.
  15. Damn, Man... I didn't need to envision that.
  16. You sir, were 3 years ahead of me. I think that our generation (a phrase I'm not terribly enamored of) were hardened to the heat. No cable tv, no home computers, no nonsense parents... we were outside all the time. In the summer they expected it of us. Moms would provide platters of salted, sliced tomatoes to keep us from starving and getting dehydrated.
