  1. Ouch, but comedic effect intended. In truth, I feel that nothing needs to change coaching-wise. Continuity and n the staff is undervalued IMO and I am NOT in favor of that. Can a fan nit-pick? Sure, but Sark seems smart enough not to change things just to change them. As I said, I’m watching this thread for analyst changes.
  2. I’ve never liked the Joseph hire that’s all I’m saying. I think he’s been a recruiter more than a coach at his previous stops and it was a bit of a comfort hire. I think he has done less over the long haul than the other defense staff that has stayed on. He’s the weakest link on the top defense in CFB. He was gifted a tremendous athlete and motivated DB in Barron. It would be tragic if he had fucked that up. But that’s like saying that the OSU secondary coach is the best ever because Downs is a freak.
  3. Agree. Have to think this is to be a low-key thread apart from new analysts
  4. Can we get rid of Terry Joseph? This is my annual time to bitch that the secondary is not up to par - but the safeties were great and recruits consistently mention Gideon. So….
  5. To throw myself in this mosh pit of takes: as has been mentioned in this page, the “Sark offense” is designed around Inside Zone, RPO (at multiple levels), and then screens/sweeps/counters and play-action as the big plays. With all the injuries and players who don’t/can’t run IZ effectively, and Quinn’s issues downfield, he has adjusted to an offense focused on OZ and intermediate passes. Almost like I get the feeling that the offense Texas has put out on the field is still very chicken-shit-sandwich and is the group of “restraint plays” standard in his offense, not the usual repertoire. Would explain why there’s limited “adjustments” in-game or game-to-game. That the team has been successful with it speaks to Sark’s coaching. (Note: I am not a Sark stan nor will I engage in a tit-for-tat; I’m here for discussion)
  6. Great perspective on what the sport in general means and what it means to be a fan. For me, it was special because for the first time ever, my girls were pumped for any kind of football, and specifically, the Horns. We didn’t make a game this year, but they’re excited to in the future. My youngest, 9 years old, said it best after the first Georgia game. Falling asleep, she asked if the Horns won, and I told her no. She said: “that’s okay, Dad, they’re still a great team and I’m happy for you.” So yeah, it sucks but the ride was damn exhilarating. I’ll have to go home and explain the loss to them this afternoon and I’ll be sad that we won’t have this feeling for another 8 months. Also, thanks to you @immamac and the rest of the (official) Surly crew for this site now and always
  7. Looks like Hill lost sight of Klubnik’s eyes and for whatever reason figured to drop laterally instead of straight back, as mentioned. Actually, I just wanted to say thanks for the snippets and discussion. I also enjoy this type of stuff
  8. Quick question for this forum: I’m taking the family up Sunday for the first time. Any advice on arrival time, parking, etc? The yutes want to be as close as possible and buy a jersey appreciate it in advance
  9. Holy shit - outstanding! More rep yada yada yada
  10. Is this the Arthrex procedure? Hadn’t noted that - I recall Rudy Gay did pretty well recently but cannot recall a football player (needing a RB-type of explosive power) with the same procedure and/or recovery
  11. Fuck Trae Young. That Sooner trash doesn’t deserve to be in a Spurs jersey and thankfully, Pop being in charge probably cements that. As for the “Wemby window” the concern I have is that the Spurs dynasty was truly built (drafted and developed) and those scouts and assistants have all moved on. SA may have a great chance to draft some quality stuff but Pop and RC have never been great in trading or signing for a champ-level star. Add in Brian Wright, whose actions the Pistons are barely trying to recover from. So… I’m hopeful, but positing that this FA will literally do a thing they’ve never shown the ability to do (acquire big-time, prime FA/trade targets) is…..
  12. I take myself off the Surl this morning to go visit my aunt and her cancer-ridden kidney. And this happens? Hook ‘em though!
  13. You should have been. ‘‘Twas better than ATM’s response and more damn appropriate. and no I’m being typical Surly facetious: ”Surly Horns: what happens here reaches Belmont”
  14. Maybe the bitching around here was enough to cause Sark to pause and look again at the Ogre. Not even a need for a banner, a public display
  15. I’m glad I had this discussion about Savea’s fit and PFF run grades with some of the rational folks around here the other day. Before the mindless droves smelled brains and dragged themselves along. He seems to be a very capable run defender. And we wait from there.
  16. Been lurking all day and trying to chime in while this thread derailed like a bloody corpse stuck on a runaway cart through icy hell. Count me in as not overly excited on Rod Wright. Experience at a high-level and high-end recruiting appears to be a downgrade from Davis, but most would probably be. Perhaps Wright was not the true first choice? But, assuming he is, I’ll happily place great fucking expectations on him.
  17. Yes, Timu served both staffs. He seems like someone who fits the coaches room but needs more experience. Nice job Sark.
  18. Thank this is my hit rn. Am I reading this right: his overall grade was just under Collins’ but his isolated Run defense grade would have been just under Murphy? Also his “Tack” would be second only to Sweat? Is that “Tackles-made” if so, that’s not a bad pick up at all.
  19. maybe Nansen knows what to do with the tie. Maybe you burn it or tie it around something special. maybe we’ve been doing it wrong:
  20. At least we should be getting a DL coach soon… I think.
  21. Again, he seems okay? Maybe he’s depth, more of an Ojomo guy. We would still seem to need an NT-type
  22. FYI Tio Savea went to UCLA with Nansen listed as his primary recruiter according to 247. He also transferred to AZ when Nansen moved. Here’s hoping he’s good because I have a feeling he’s headed to Austin.
  23. Makes sense then. Thank you. I’ll find something else to bide my time until the next transfer then
  24. So if it’s Wright - fine, whatever, hope he kicks some ass - why can’t he pull a Choate? If he’d agreed to take the job, then he would have had permission from the Texans, right? If so, then why not announce him asap so that he can begin to make contact w recruits and transfers etc? I’m honest that I don’t know if the NFL has specific rules on this compared to CFB
