DT recruiting was something special this summer though.
Texas only actively recruited 6 DTs through the summer: Brown, Williams, Sharma, Charles, Wynn, and Sanders.
There really wasn't a hope to hanging on to Brown once Bo Davis left. And we weren't going to overcome the gf factor for Williams at LSU. These were dead recruitments but the staff poured energy into it.
So the number was really 4 DTs the staff let themselves have a shot at. 4 real recruitments when the spots to fill number during the summer was 3-4 spots.
Sharma and Charles appeared to be the key targets since they brought them in together during the first big visit weekend. Nansen helped make the Sharma recruitment feasible, while Charles was big game hunting.
Wynn recruitment came down to selling him that he could pursue culinary here. And Sanders was always viewed as the lowest priority given his development needs, but plenty of competition from Aggie.
When the rug got pulled out from under us on Sharma then Charles went to FSU the same day, it was hard to see what the real options were going forward because they hadn't recruited much beyond those 6. Unlike with Moore committing to Oregon, the staff still had legit options with Ffrench, Lockett, and others.
