  1. This is the only Texas site I use. I just signed up for TreeFiddy and recently started TOF donations. Here's my suggestion on how to build a following on socials for Surly. This suggestion is based on replicating a model of another school's fan social media account that uses a lot of user-generated submissions. The account is Drunk Old Grad, https://www.instagram.com/drunkoldgrad/, which is an account for West Point that is run by an alum Most of the content comes from current cadets or alums, and the person running the account uploads the content (and he makes some of his own content, too) A lot of the content is memes or videos taking a stab at Navy or Airforce, current cadet life, or being in the Army But there is a lot of other content highlighting football, basketball, etc success, alum accomplishments, West Point from back in the day, other successes/ things in the news about West Point and the Army If Surly follows this model, posts/videos can center on these themes: Making fun of aggies, sooners, other schools Updates on football, volleyball, basketball, etc. Current student life Alumni in the news Longhorn apparel, etc. Pictures of Longhorn logos/fans in unexpected places Historical UT/Longhorn images (e.g., vintage gameday posters, images of campus from the 60s, etc.) The goal in this model is more than just a football or sports account; it is an overall UT/Longhorn fan and lifestyle following. One way to start getting this content could be to start a thread somewhere here for people to upload memes, images, videos, etc. Whoever runs the social media account would then make the final call on what to upload, then upload and manage the social accounts.
  2. y=mx+b gets him to 10.5s by his sophomore season here. Perfect.
  3. If they fire him after 3 years, they will be paying (assuming annual payouts): - Elko $5.6m per year (not accounting for amount offset for contract with new school) - Jimbo $7.2m per year Not to coach at A&M. I'm ready for it.
  4. Gravity. Aggies don't realize the real force of nature within their football program, athletics, and school that limits their upside. No matter what they do, they will not be able to defy this gravity of being an 8-4 program.

  6. The guy just learned how to do division a few days ago. Now, he is using it with all the numbers he can find. Let him have his fun, and wait for the wonderful things he will do in 16 years when he starts to learn algebra.

  8. We've never had to play a real opponent like Appalachian State. We will never know what tough football is like.
  9. Considering that the full price of the decision to hire and fire Jimbo will exceed $100m, it's incredible to think about the opportunity costs not only for a&m, but also for the donors. ROI is obviously not be a consideration at all for the aggies. The only thing that makes sense for a&m's next move, based on how they behave, is that they will essentially double down on the next move in a hope to "atone" for their mistakes to make it all worth it (however they define value; there definitely isn't going to be any form of a NPV calc near this decision). I expect a massive budget for the next coach and staff, and massive budget on recruits/transfers, at least in year 1.
  10. Good to see Quinn and Sark understand they in a payday year and act like.
  11. Worst case scenario is that the other school doing this is A&M and this gives them the "for cause" reason to fire Jimbo and get out of that contract.
  12. So the mantra is now "Don't worry about the scholarship numbers, worry about the NIL dollars"
  13. This is an extremely odd photo when you consider how much effort it took to take a photograph and how rare it was to take a photograph in 1915. They had to plan this out and take a lot of time to set up the camera for the shot. With all that effort and time, what did they decide to take a photo of? One man spanking another man. And it isn't like they did this for clicks or likes. Or this was just another photograph in a huge collection of other photographs. This was something they were proud of. Something that defined who they were as cadets. This might have been one of a handful of pictures they could take as a cadet to define their experience, and they wanted it to be this. "We're not weird"
  14. St. Nahlin warned us about taking things for granted. This is what happens. This kind of careless thinking is similar to the reason we almost lost NYC to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man several decades ago.
  15. Or just take the inverse of the Looch 44 and use that as the only rating
  16. So you're saying those highly rated recruiting classes were way over ranked? Got it

  19. This is such a terrible way to look at a game. This essentially reduces every play down to pure luck and focuses only a set number of plays that if gone the other way would have been detrimental to UT. What if UT recovered the inside kick? What if Watts picked off that trick play deep ball to the end zone? What if one of our QB pressures resulted in a sack? Anyone can do this ad nauseam and come up with alternate realities.
  20. Sounds to me like the full playbook (as much as it can with Wright running it) is going to be open. This won't be a vanilla offense/defense like it was against ULM.
  21. I think if they still had Mike Elko calling the D or a slightly better OL (or competent OL coach), I could give them a higher probability of pulling out a win. But these negatives compounded with what sounds like a toxic locker room makes it hard to see a team with average athletic ability losing to A&M.

  23. If the only thing separating the QBs is that Ewers can make the deep passes, then he needs to be the starting QB. We have the receivers who can get separation down field for big plays and we need a QB can make those throws.
  24. We are so close to peak off season when all the 9.95ers talk about is how these young men's bodies are transforming.
