  1. One other thing about Japan are the onsens. It’s their version of a public bath. You sit on a stool and scrub yourself clean, then dip into a hot pool. Do it before you go to bed and you’ll sleep like a baby. My son loved the experience, especially when we sneaked up and dumped cold water on each other.
  2. Did you book the ryokan I suggested above? They offered breakfast and dinner as extras. The food isn’t for everyone, but the prep and presentation was AMAZING!
  3. I don't think his experience "painting houses" is necessarily what I'm looking for.
  4. Of course fattie at the end has the biggest bottle of sizzurp.
  5. When I was grade school, one of the girls got sick right before her birthday party. Her parents told us it be rescheduled in 2 weeks after she got better. I'm going to pretend that English was my second language (it is, but by then, I was fluent in English), but 2 weeks later, my dad drives me to her house. Her mom answered the door and asked why I was there. "Uhhh... isn't Natalie having a party?" "Ummm no, she's still sick, we said we'd reschedule AFTER she got better." Thankfully my dad hadn't left yet, and I did the walk of shame back to the car.
  6. Cremate me and grind my bones, then spread my ashes in a Pacific NW forest.
  7. It's hard to make back the premiums on Buffaloes. The place I went shorted me on premiums when I sold silver, but made up for it (mostly) by not charging a premium on a gold Maple. I still have 100+ ounces sitting in my garage that I want to trade for gold. Just haven't found the time to go to the coin shop.
  8. In high school, there was a girl named Dory who embodied a hairband groupie, complete with teased hair, leather jacket and tight, torn jeans. She was treated as an outcast and her social circle was a straight line. At a "beach party" along the Elbe river, we got to talking and apparently I tried hard to get into her pants, unsuccessfully. I don't recall much of it, but my friends made fun of me for the next few weeks.
  9. In Texas and the Midwest, they should come in tactical camouflage as the standard.
  10. Who ever thought white underwear should come in white? (Did not shart, but just saw an ad with tighty whities)
  11. After hanging out with a bunch of boys at a campus, my son now calls me dad instead of daddy. He’s 9 and me transitioning to “dad” would be inevitable, but doesn’t make me feel less sad.
  12. “Ride that train straight to Andy Elliott’s house. Fuck you Patrick!” So random but cracks me up.
  13. Since we have threads on things that make you surly / pleased, what about one about embarrassing moments? I'll start... Early in my career, I had mad Excel skillz, and the company relied on me to link numbers from our working spreadsheet to the Owner's format with a whole bunch of rules, caveats, etc. We were in the bid room, I was seated in front of my computer with my boss, his boss, and the boss's boss standing over my shoulder watching me work my magic. The secretary had ordered Mexican food that day, and my stomach was grumbling. You know how sometimes multiple conversations just quiet down for a brief second? Yeah, just at that moment, I tooted, just a bit, but loud enough for the 3 of them to hear. My boss said "Okay, I think it's a good time to take a break", and the room cleared out. We all came back after 15 minutes once the smell had dissipated.
  14. nnm with the subtle humblebrag The foundation repair at my previous home cost $600. (pier and beam foundation)
  15. Conversation before we went on a trip: Me: What are you going to do while we're at the beach? Her: I brought a book on parenting. Me: You sure you don't want to bringing lighter to read? Her: No, I'm going to read it. (She's been saying this for at least 3 vacations) Sitting on the beach, she stares out onto the ocean, book is nowhere to be found. Me: Where's your book? Her: I don't want to read it. It's dry. Me: Want to read the books on my iPad? They're by David Sedaris. Her: No (as she continues to stare onto the ocean for 3 days)
  16. I ran some errands in the morning and came back EXHAUSTED, then spent the rest of the afternoon sleeping in fits and starts. The fever broke in the evening and I’m feeling a whole lot bette now.
  17. Went to Mexico last week and started to feel a little sick starting Saturday morning. At first it was just a cough and now I feel like dogshit. I have body aches, fever, chills, stuffy nose, weakness, the whole enchilada. I haven’t taken a Covid test yet since I just got it in March. Sucks that I have a project due end of the month, and while I have 2 strong guys working on it, I feel the need to look over their work. This sucks.
  18. My mom had over 100 Chrome tabs on her phone. Instead of a number letting you know there's a lot, it gives you a 😃 face.
  19. BTW, this is what a wet koala looks like. Nightmare fuel.
