  1. Wife signed up the kids for a variety summer camp programs and now wants me to pick them up at noon on certain days. What’s wrong with leaving the kids at library before going to work and picking them after work? I kid. I’m grateful to have her. If she wasn’t around, the kids would be at the library with the homeless or parked in front of the TV.
  2. If we're going asian, how about Andrew Koji? He was also in Bullet Train.
  3. John McCain was caught. So were a lot of men fighting in wars. Getting caught doesn’t mean they aren’t intelligent.
  4. I thought the caption was supposed to read... Wife: Out of all the brothers, you have the largest penis.
  5. I refuse to eat octopus because they're intelligent aliens on this planet, and also to not take a chance on it being full of semen. But yeah, I'm not kidding when I say I refuse to eat octopus because they're so intelligent.
  6. We went in March. It's a TERRIBLE time to visit since everyone wants to see the cherry blossoms and there are a million tourists everywhere. We did Tokyo for 2 days, Kyoto for 2 days, Osaka for a day, and back to Tokyo. We planned too much and it was tiring. Take the bullet train if you're going between cities, so much better than taking a flight. In Tokyo, we visited the Tsujiki market which was over-crowded for a Monday nut worth the experience, teamLab Planets which was pretty cool but not a must see, the Gundam statue which apparently is gone now. Shinjuku IMO is a must, but prepare for crowds and sensory overload. In Kyoto, we rented kimonos and took photos at most of the famous temples and the bamboo forest. We stayed at a traditional ryokan - Kyoto Inn Hokkaikan Ohanabo the close to the train station, and the experience was awesome. The owner was so friendly and full of energy. If I ever go back to Kyoto, I would definitely stay there again. Our 24 hours in Osaka was also really rushed. We went to Dontonburi at night which had a lot of restaurants and shops, also went to Osaka castle to meet with my wife's coworker who she's never seen in person, just on Teams calls. We didn't get to see the inside of Osaka Castle, but the outside was pretty amazing Overall I loved Japan, and had a fantastic but tiring trip. After you go there, you will be browsing the Bidet Meta Thread and never go back to wiping your ass with toilet paper.
  7. You hit it on the nail with those items. I didn't think it was dangerous or an ecological nightmare. The sargassum was a big deal though, they had workers remove it everyday, but it's a losing battle. One think I'll add is there is a lot of vacancy but they are still building. Doesn't make sense at all, especially all the condos they're building 1-2 miles away from the beach. Who TF would want to spend $250K+ to live in a place where there are not store, restaurants, etc. Does not make sense.
  8. Took my phone to get the screen replaced this afternoon. Guy told me he was backed up, and to come back in 2-3 hours.* When I went to pick it up to pay, he said the machine will "ask you a question". The question was - do you want to tip 15%, 18%, 20% or skip? I already paid $190 for this service and it's asking for more? Grrr. * During the time I was waiting, I went to a nearby Walmart for the first time in... several years. It's still the typical depressing Walmart experience I remembered.
  9. Count that as a blessing for at least the next 5-7 business days.
  10. We just got back from Tulum and in general were underwhelmed. We had a private car take us from the airport to Le Zebra. It was a boutique hotel on the beach south from Tulum proper. The hotel itself was excellent, good on-site restaurant, and the sister hotel next door also had excellent food. We did a one-day guided tour of the ruins, swam in a cenote, and had lunch at a local home where the family served us the most delicious meal on the trip (not kidding) - chicken wrapped banana leaves and baked in the ground, with fresh tortillas and a fantastic habanero sauce. The food at the hotel was overpriced, but we expected that. But the food outside the hotel along the beach was not good and over-priced. We went to a restaurant our last night and it was easily $180 without drinks. A few simple lunches (think sandwiches) were easily $60. The only thing was reasonably priced was the 6-pack of Modelo. My wife had to go to the hospital with an eye issue, and we used the opportunity to check out the touristy part of Tulum - lots of restaurants, pharmacies (they're everywhere!), and a few gift shops for tourists. Taxi to and from the hotel to Tulum proper was $85 (about 20 minutes each way). I recommend against going to Tulum, especially this time of year where it's almost unbearably hot. Yes the beaches are awesome, and there are a variety of hotels of different price ranges, but there is not much to do, and things are over-priced.
  11. Our flight was delayed 2 hours, so I gave the kids some extra screen time on their ipads. Wife: Why did you give them extra screen time, now they won't turn it off. Me: Why don't you just tell them to turn it off? Wife: Well you gave them extra screen time. Me: Do you want me to switch seats so I firmly suggest they turn it off? Wife: No, I'm not switching seats, but why did you give them extra screen time?
  12. Just came back from a week in Tulum. Granted we were by the beach and options were limited, but for the prices they charged, the food was very disappointing.
  13. When my 12 YO girl gets excited and says “yay” in her still chipmunk like voice. She still holds my hand, and dread the day when she tells me to stop.
  14. What’s the cut off between affordable watch and what belongs on this thread? I posted this on the affordable watch thread. It looks great to me, but it’s only a pedestrian $1,000.
  15. 2,1 Unless you’re into the dominatrix thing, then 1,2. Or if you’re into cosplay with Meryl Streep.
  16. It’s it the check engine light? If I recall on my old VW, a solid light means it’s an emissions issue and can still be driven. A flashing check engine light means you’re screwed.
  17. My son’s smelly feet can clear a room. Maybe it’s because he’s really active and feet sweat a LOT, or there’s something else going on. It’s gotten to the point we’re embarrassed to have him go to friends’ houses. We’ve tried disinfectants, arm and hammer “balls” filled with baking soda, washing each foot at lest 30 seconds each day, washing his shoes frequently, and trying out different types of socks… I think we’ve achieved a stalemate with a combo of rotating 3-4 different pairs of shoes, antibacterial soap, new socks and washing his shoes using hydrogen peroxide. Not sure how sustainable after he becomes responsible for it all. But damn, I’d rather smell poop than his shoes.
  18. The hotel in Mexico where I’m currently staying DEFINITELY needs a bidet system, especially since I can’t throw TP in the toilet.
  19. Fuddruckers conversation not going away. It’s been more than 25 years since I ate a 1/3 pound burger smothered in cheese. (Was there a location off of 183?). I think my LDL went up 20 points just from that meal.
  20. That’s fake. However, his star has been smashed at least once, and vandalized repeatedly, such as being accessorized with poop. The best way to prevent damage is to put a barrier over it like this.
  21. At the Disney resort where I’m guessing the guest are at least middle-upper class to afford the rooms. The percentage of people with tattoos at a Sandals resort or Carnival cruise is probably through the roof.
