There's not much to tell... dad was a diplomat for Taiwan, we lived around the world.
My best friend in high school (in Germany) said he'd applied for UT, so I went to Austin, got my BS, went to Cal to get my MS, back to Austin to work for 8 years before I got my green card in 2005. Waited the mandatory 5 years before I could apply for citizenship, but decided to wait because, I dunno why. Finally applied for it in 2015, aced the citizenship test (complete joke) and got sworn in.
Being a US citizen doesn't feel much different compared to being a permanent resident except for the fact that it's a whole lot easier to travel with a US passport instead of a Taiwanese passport.
In the 31 years I've been in the US, I maybe broke the law a few times but never arrested. Paid 18 years of taxes before I became a citizen, and another 9 years since. I married a 1st generation women from Taiwan. Both of us are fluent in English, no accent, together we have 2 American kids who use the word "like", "dude" and "gyat" more than I can stand. I'm more integrated into society and have more non-Asian friends, but then again we're in Orange County and there aren't many non-Asian people to choose from to become friends.
