  1. I watched Tarzan in a movie theater just to hear her voice. Listening to her makes me
  2. We must be married to the same woman. Whenever she interrupts, I’ll tell her she interrupted and walk away. We haven’t had a complete conversation in days (other than talking about the tithe). At home I usually have earbuds or earphones and listen to music, audiobooks, stand up comedies or play video games.
  3. First in line at communion don’t come cheap.
  4. White American women. Europeans not so much. One thing l learned while at resorts is that American men and women love their tattoos. I’d say 50% if not more people have tats.
  5. My wife nearly did that crossing the street earlier. Intersection in Mexico with no traffic or street lights. She crossed one direction onto the island and was about to run across before I yelled at her to stop because traffic in the other direction wasn’t slowing down. Her being hit would have been bad enough, but my son was with her as well. Crazy woman.
  6. Daughter dropped my phone just right and now I have splotch of dead pixels by the volume buttons. Her loss because this is supposed to be her phone when I get a new one next year.
  7. Our tax deductions are right. Just miffed that her math is so bad that we’ve probably given about $30-40K more than we agreed upon over the past years.
  8. In Mexico, Tulum to be specific, for a getaway before the kids start their summer camps. From the airport to the hotel, we went through several checkpoints with machine guns toting officers from the federal police, national guard and even marines. Not sure if it’s presidential election jitters, but that made the hour drive a little nervewracking.
  9. I took the boy cabin camping over the weekend the dad/son program. The program is not associated with any religion. The event just happened to be at a Christian campground We got in line for lunch, staying in the shade next to the building. A group of about 20 girls walk past us and tried to get in because their “counselor” told them it was okay cut in front of us. An argument ensued and the counselor went full Karen. In the end, the girls went to the back of the line. Along the way, the counselor asked what happened to ladies first, and we should be ashamed because “this is a Christian campground.” For dinner, we once again lined up against the building, but one of the dads pushes a table in front of the door and called it the “Karen check-in table”. Guffaws all around. Then one of the girls stomps over and yells “Just so you motherfuckers know, we can hear you from back there!” She got booed and we called out to the counselor “hey, this is a Christian campground! What are you teaching the girls?” Karen did not come over.
  10. #teamelephant Don't want to get attacked by an elephant? Don't go where it lives.
  11. When we got married, we agreed that we'd tithe 10% of her gross paycheck, 10% of my net paycheck. I don't write the check / do the zelle because I'm a miser and it pains me every month. But doing quick math at the dinner table, turns out she's been tithing about 20% more than we agreed upon. Bachelors and Masters in Statistics, i.e. math major, and can't figure out basic math.
  12. My dad is probably older than you. He turns 84 this year. In 1959, he would have still been in high school and 2 years before moving to Taipei for college.
  13. There's not much to tell... dad was a diplomat for Taiwan, we lived around the world. My best friend in high school (in Germany) said he'd applied for UT, so I went to Austin, got my BS, went to Cal to get my MS, back to Austin to work for 8 years before I got my green card in 2005. Waited the mandatory 5 years before I could apply for citizenship, but decided to wait because, I dunno why. Finally applied for it in 2015, aced the citizenship test (complete joke) and got sworn in. Being a US citizen doesn't feel much different compared to being a permanent resident except for the fact that it's a whole lot easier to travel with a US passport instead of a Taiwanese passport. In the 31 years I've been in the US, I maybe broke the law a few times but never arrested. Paid 18 years of taxes before I became a citizen, and another 9 years since. I married a 1st generation women from Taiwan. Both of us are fluent in English, no accent, together we have 2 American kids who use the word "like", "dude" and "gyat" more than I can stand. I'm more integrated into society and have more non-Asian friends, but then again we're in Orange County and there aren't many non-Asian people to choose from to become friends.
  14. I am enchubbened https://usd.farer.com/products/mansfield
  15. Good thing you'll only have to listen to it for 2 years before it breaks and you vow never to get another Samsung.
  16. @Neikea has made it to Facebook?
  17. I bet a few of them speak jive.
  18. That's why I call myself Superhero, because I did it "the way it is supposed to be done". Took a long ass time, but it's worth it. I wish I could have had family and friends at my citizen ceremony. But this was in LA, and there were probably over 1,000 people being sworn in. Yes. Make the wall taller, but the gate wider. Allow people who abide by the laws, bring skills and willingness to work (even seasonal farm workers) into the country. And willingness to work, and integrate into American society.
  19. Is there a worse teammate than Ocon? I mean, other than Lance Stroll.
  20. Not sure if it belongs here, but it’s a holy shit to me
  21. At the local Target parking lot, it’s A, C, B.
