  1. You see, I think the word engineer is thrown around too liberally. Not doubting the academic achievements of those in facilities maintenance that actually earned engineering degrees. But applying the word to garbage collectors (sanitation engineers), maintenance men (facilities engineers) kinda cheapens the years I paid out-of-state tuition for drinking beer and sleeping through statics and dynamics.
  2. Not sure if this will show up. But this guy get it. https://www.facebook.com/reel/172336032626659?fs=e&mibextid=roAVj8&fs=e&s=TIeQ9V
  3. Newsom's too liberal in some areas, but I'll take him over the long and undistinguished list of republican governors. State income tax is a bitch, but I don't mind paying it. Property crimes, which are partly a result of homeless is an issue, but one can blame the weather and mental illness for the high number of homeless. I don't care about large capacity magazines. But damnit, I want a sports car, with a stick shift, that burns 93 octane gas, and that asshat has supported the ban on ICE by 2035 when I'll be prime mid-life crisis car buying mode. Oh, and we'll need to build a whole lot more powerplants and fix the electrical grid because it already can't support summer heatwaves. Once the percentage of EVs goes from 25% to 100%, it's gonna get worse.
  4. My dad was a diplomat for Taiwan. He was stationed in Seattle in 1979 when the US officially recognized China. I remember him coming home ashened faced because it was a big fucking deal. Granted the US still supports Taiwan militarily, and may come to Taiwan's aid if China attacks, but my thought is the US wouldn't give a shit once TSMC moves a bulk of their manufacturing to Arizona. I just hope my parents will be granted asylum to the US when that happens.
  5. Damn... My company's new standard issue car is a Ford Explorer. This video makes me want o purposefully destroy my current car and ask for a new ride.
  6. Definition of FAFO. Why did he let the baboon get that close to him?
  7. Yes, I really like Will Patton's Holly. If you like Will Patton, he narrates some of the James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux series. I'm in the middle of The Tin Roof Blowdown. It's a thriller with Katrina in the background. Really really good and kind of depressing. James Lee Burke spends time on describing landscape, weather and people's dress. It sounds kinda silly, but it really sets the mood.
  8. Over the past year or so I've listened to a lot of SK. Here's my list in order of preference... Pet Sematary - by FAR the most terrifying The Shining - terrifying Mr. Mercedes series - really good Dr. Sleep - really good The Outsider Misery - awesome The Institute Salem's Lot Fairy Tale - pretty good The Shawshank Redemption - the movie strayed a bit from the book toward the end If it Bleeds Duma Key - pretty good 11/22/1963 - pretty good, dragged a little Elevation - short story, somewhat interesting The Running Man - WTF, the movie is ABSOLUTELY nothing like the book, and the book is awesome. The Langoliers - meh Dark Tower series books 1-3 - a beating The Body I have Christine on my shelf, Cujo and Tommy Knockers in the cue, and hoping to someday get through It and The Stand.
  9. I got through 10% of book 4 before I tapped out. The first 3 were just a beating compared to his other works. Which audio book version do you listen to? The only version I've listened to is narrated by Will Patton. I've listened to about 40-50 audiobooks so far and he is BY FAR the best one. His Holly Gibney is really good from Mr. Mercedes through If it Bleeds. I'm hoping he will continue to narrate the SK books.
  10. I will happily contribute my 5lb of belly fat towards our GDP.
  11. Looks like it happened down undah' https://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/incidents/new-report-reveals-critical-detail-in-what-caused-a-fatal-helicopter-crash-at-sea-world/news-story/276c642465d4b27b32057c4d6b62a8b6
  12. Dude is the love child of Armybrat and John Bonham.
  13. Watching my kids play Super Smash Brothers. Between the music, characters, explosions, the screen zooming in and out, helpers, special moves, this is the most hectic over the top game I’ve ever seen. I’m amazed how they can keep focusing on the game play. I can also see myself getting seizures if I tried playing myself.
  14. The boy did another run today. Broke the 25 minute mark. There was another little kid younger than my son that was 2 minutes faster.
  15. I ended up getting the Cannondale Trail Plus for my boy. It got pretty good reviews and was on sale at REI. There were better reviewed bikes (Woom) but I also didn't want to pay over $500 for a bike that he's going to grow out of. Still looking for a bike for my daughter. She's already 4'-8" and the pediatrician thinks she'll be over 5' by the end of next year, so I'm debating whether to just get her a 26" bike.
