  1. They didn't ignore Leclerc. It was one of the main themes of the race. And the reason they didn't show Hamilton's last lap pass was because Norris crossed the finish line about when it happened. Lots of ins outs and what have yous.
  2. It took me two of his books, but I'm fully committed to Alastair Reynolds' Revelation Space/Chasm City/Glitter Band world he built. Currently on the 3rd book of that whole series.
  3. I'm here for it but didn't realize the extent to which you can customize. A couple months back I was tired of the same old Logitech keyboard and picked up this Cherry KC 200 mechanical. Relatively quiet, solid, comfortable and definitely worth it imo.
  4. On a more local level, our very well regarded principal got the axe from Miles a couple days ago and is now hitting the news. We are supposed recertify as an IB school but the NES curriculum doesn't really allow for that. Our principal pushed back and well, now she's on "administrative leave" https://abc13.com/post/houston-isd-has-few-answers-parents-questioning-harvard-elementary-school-principals-leave-ongoing-investigation/15409427/
  5. Tickets go on sale in February and yes you are correct that you'd be sitting in grassy areas. The 3-day pass is sold through COTA and I don't think that is marked up. There are some 1day GA passes on Ticketmaster that look like about $140 cheaper. Reserved seats look crazy right now. The cheapest ones in the $600 range (3day) are bad viewing angles. If you decide to go, keep on mind that shade is almost non-existent, particularly in GA areas, so bring some portable shade. Another idea that folks do is, instead of dropping a bunch of money at COTA, spend a little less on ticket prices and go to the race in Montreal. That way for the money you also get a cool trip out of it.
  6. Eh, I didn't hate going for it but the playback was questionable.
  7. I was a bit surprised when I saw the trailer for it in the theater. The original Danish one was very well done but it only made a little over $600k in the box office. I'm kind of torn but I'll prob go see McAvoy and Davis go all crazy... Hopefully the original producers can at least get a decent return from whatever royalties once the new one hits.
  8. Team Piastri all the way. His move on lap one was beautiful imho. What a race, Leclerc!
  9. Drop us some more pics when you can. Love this track.
  10. I put a topper on my 10 year old 4x4 Taco, ever so slightly bigger set of Michelins, and replaced broken fog lights with LEDs. Will that count?? I think that will count. The drivers can prep for the race by opening the sliding windows in the bed with no AC.
  11. Why do you do this? Just as I was starting to make a dent in my book list... Finished "The Man who Fell to Earth". What a read. He writes juuust enough about any given scene to make it seem vivid in your head without being at all too wordy. Loved every page.
  12. Re: Sainz...I'm excited he's going to Williams and look forward to seeing how he contributes. They seem to actually be executing on their long term strategy and can see them making more strides than the likes of the Alpine dumpster fire. Pretty impressed Vowels pulled it off.
  13. For sure. I feel for the drivers and wish they'd hold this and the US GP no earlier than mid-to-late October. Need more shade for the fans, too, for races basically at the tail end of summer. Have just casually followed WEC and will be my first actual race to attend.
  14. Sorry, code is 49HOURSONLY. But not too much time left. My bad
  15. PSA...Lone Star Le Mans general admission tickets at COTA weekend of September 1 are on sale for $20 until 1 AM tomorrow. GA for three days that are priced at $69 usually. Just picked up a couple. Anyone been to a WEC race at COTA and have any tips? I've been to a couple F1 practices/races there and sat at turn 12. This time I may try the GA section at turn 1 depending on attendance and how early I get there.
  16. Spent the past couple nights watching the 2011 Canadian GP and what perfect timing. It set up today's race perfectly.
  17. Man, I'm listening to Whitmire's interview on ABC13 right now and he needs to tone it down a bit. Basically yelling at the camera and overboard.

Pretty sure it was a Wednesday.
  19. Completely agree and didn't intend to dismiss the economic elephant in the room. It will take massive investment and those that do will assume risk that the project will be uneconomic. And to your point, what happens when Vicki retires as CEO at Oxy? Will these major net zero projects continue or will that side of the company be cleaved off and saddles with debt because it doesn't compete with the rest of the O&G portfolio? I guess my main hangup was thinking some are negative on the Anthropogenic CO2 EOR aspect simply because more oil will continue to be produced vs. the fact that it's unproven at scale and faces economic headwinds. Can completely understand the latter argument.
  20. Went to Georgia James for our anniversary. It's was excellent, but I just have a hard time eating a deliciously expensive cut of steak that I can rival at home on my cast iron with a reverse sear. The ambeance, drinks, appetizers, and of course the occasion made it worth it though. Definitely a special occasion place unless you are Surly 1%.

Went to Corkscrew a couple months back for lunch and you have to get there before 1130 for any semblance of a reasonable wait. But the food was legit.
