  1. I mean....every now and then, Incredulity makes a solid point. I imagine the question of who is worse will be a pretty interesting one. It will be for totally different reasons -- their flavors of incompetence are different, and Gaetz has that spicy topping of malice and self-interest, but we'll have to wait and see. It may well be that each have equal shares, for different reasons, in the trophy given for "helping to kill the republic."
  2. It's a bit of a pain in the ass....but yeah, I'm glad to have both bank accounts and assets outside of this country. I intend to increase both.
  3. As with most everything else, this particular shitshow is going to be hardest on the very people who voted for it in the largest numbers. Wealthy people? They've got the means to get their kids taken care of elsewhere. The poorer, less educated folks who voted for this exact outcome? They're uber-fucked. Their special needs kids are hosed. And that's the point. The cruelty is the point.
  4. I get that owning tha libz is super cool....but how can any human possibly celebrate the parade of unqualified, incompetent sycophants who are being appointed to crucial and powerful positions? I mean, yeah, I get it, ha ha it's hilarious that he made a lobotomized chimp the pilot of a 787....but it's a 787. With people on it. Including you. And it's going to be flown by a brain-damaged ape. How is that good?
  5. This. Imagine how bad these picks can be. Then realize your imagination isn't anywhere CLOSE to how bad they are actually going to be. Y'all really still don't get how bad this is going to be. Because a healthy, functioning brain really can't grasp shit that bad. Fortunately, nobody has ever accused me of having a healthy, functioning brain, so I can see quite clearly and vividly the shitshow. No point in saying "buckle up." A seatbelt won't matter when the car ends up looking like this:
  6. Man. Y'all remember when I was an irrational alarmist out on the ledge, talking insane shit about how bad a Trump regime would be? I remember. I really wish that I'd turned out to be an insane alarmist who was totally wrong. Instead, I'm just insane. I'll take it, I guess.
  7. The entire topic of this conversation, summed up succinctly.
  8. So, our foster refugee kid was driving my old 2012 Hyundai Sonata. It only had about 40k miles on its new engine. Some gal broadsided him, and due to the age and mileage of the car, insurance will total it. Trying to decide between two options: 1) Take the money offered, then buy it back at its damaged value, and repair it and keep it under a salvage title (it only needs a new door and quarterpanel). We know that it's mechanically sound and has been taken care of with maintenance etc. And it's hard to find a good reliable cheap used car. It has something like 140k miles. Bit of a pain to do the whole pay me and I buy it back and repair it process, and will have a salvage title, but it's a daily driver, not an investment. 2) A friend is selling a 2013 Chevy Equinox with 170k miles. Will need to dig into it more, but it's been their car the whole time, they've maintained it well, etc. We'd get it checked out, but presume no mechanical issues at the moment. Can probably get it for just a bit more than we'll get back from insurance on my Sonata. He's 16, he needs safe and reliable wheels to get back and forth to school and soccer. Maybe to get him up to his first year of college in a couple of years. Any big thoughts on those options?
  9. Oh, I'll play it to my advantage. I'm not stupid, I'm as cynical as they come. I'm just not so dishonest/stupid as to pretend this will be anything but that. IDGAF whether you "fundamentally agree" that will be the outcome. Repeated history tells us what it will be, and PARTICULARLY under a regime that stands for crony capitalism more boldly than any regime in American history.
  10. No. It wouldn't. And you know exactly why it wouldn't.
  11. Of course. Because there is a near 100% chance that it becomes - like all such projects, but ESPECIALLY one under an entirely transactional regime - a project of "make shit super hard for the poor and middle class, make things lucrative and gravy for the rich, ESPECIALLY the rich/enterprises that have enough resources to ingratiate themselves with the regime." TLDR; Those with money and power will miraculously come out AHEAD in such efforts, those without money and power will inevitably find themselves fucked by such efforts. You know that's exactly how it will go.
  12. Of course you are. Because pretty close to 100% of the time, "austerity" means "slash anything that benefits the middle and lower classes....but protect every cushy mechanism that benefits the rich/oligarchs." Time, and time, and time again -- here and everywhere else -- that's how it goes. An oligarch - a literal oligarch - who is the beneficiary of numerous government programs, payments, grants, and policies - is being put in charge of "government efficiency." There are only two possible ways it goes: 1) it goes nowhere, and is a total clown show, or 2) it provides massive benefits to the oligarch class, and nothing but harm to everyone else.
  13. That image right there captures the exact moment of his spurting orgasm as one of his eyes stares at a child failing to be educated.
  14. But in this case, you fail to understand how suggestable and malleable the DOTUS is. Elmo will submit a plan to eliminate all EV subsidies....except for companies that rhyme with "Messla." And a plan to privatize all functions of NASA, with the preferred bidder being any space launch company with a launch facility near the Texas-Mexico border. Etc. It's. All. Grift. All of it.
  15. Imagine looking at Trumpism and its overt Christian Nationalism and then coming onto a board to gloat about….how “Christianity” isn’t entangled with the state? WTF? American “Christianity” is about as divorced from the gospel as you can get. It’s also entirely about asserting “religious” control of society and the government (the MAGA crowd is full-on into “seven mountains” dominionism - look it up, and I don’t mean “watch a stupid YouTube video”). You can preach MAGA. You can preach actual gospel-based Christianity. You cannot preach both.
  16. Last known date was the exact moment Jesus breathed his last on the cross.
  17. Huh. You sound like you doubt the quality of care that will be provided by Jared and Ivanka’s veterans healthcare and drive-thru, NOW WITH 70% PROFIT MARGINS. Heretic. Trump DOJ gonna come for you.
  18. Your wife is throwing away kale. Every time she does that, it’s a positive entry on your ledger, don’t complain.
  19. 100%. Which he will use to prosecute the women who sued him.
  20. Yep. And that combo of assholes gives us a nice opportunity to point out how both extremes (left and right) have worked together to fuck housing supply. But in Trumpland....what is the answer to why our housing supply is fucked? OBVIOUSLY, the problem is housepainters and roofers named Jorge taking up all of our housing supply.
  21. I mean....the pure fucking genius here. Let's take a country that is operating at functionally zero unemployment.....and just eliminate millions and millions of workers. There's no way to cut that so it doesn't end up inflationary as hell. Either wages have to go WAY up to get people to process chickens in Arkansas (leading to inflation of prices) or plants are just gonna have to shut down (leading to reduced supply....leading to inflation). And that's just looking at food processing. Construction is similar, with the added bonus of throttling the supply of new housing coming to market (reduced supply.....yep, inflation of prices). Austin's housing supply isn't tight because some sheetrockers from Guatemala live here. Shit, most of the ones working in Austin DON'T live here -- they live in the hinterlands and distant burbs, in shitty housing. Every part of this is fucking dumb. ....and it's going to run 9 months behind schedule to get into it because of a construction worker shortage.
  22. Also, I presume that if we show up at RDB, and holler back at the kitchen "I'm from the internet...MULEDICK!", we'll get special treatment. Right?
  23. Yeah, I mean...remember the time Obama called everyone who wasn't on his team "vermin," and "thugs" and the like? Yeah, man....he was divisive. Not a uniter like TFG.
  24. Nor should we. They literally chose this outcome, in spite of ALL of the evidence and warnings to the contrary. The only sane response should be
