  1. 8-4 with a good bowl win would be ok in my book, if we are looking like a much improved team at the end of the year. New staffs have growing pains and so do new QBs.
  2. I’m on the 8-4 thinking where Vegas has us. First year coach with a first year qb and a new scheme on defense. Should be some kinks to work out. I’m most interested to see how the team and schemes come together as the season progresses. Can see us being a tough bowl matchup at the end of the year with some good momentum heading into year two.
  3. Click on the pic and check the t-shirt. That's calculator territory.
  4. 8-4 isn't going to buy us a lot of momentum. 9-3 would be ok but not enough to land us multiple 5 stars. Until we can recruit like Georgia (I think our most comparable situation) we will just be pissing in the wind. Gonna have to completely sell out like Georgia did with Smart. That means dropping crazy bags and pushing the NIL stuff to the limits. We arent doing either, which means we are barely even in the game. Here's my patented CFB Tier system. Tier 1 is when you consistently make the 4 team playoff. Tier 2 is when you sometimes make the final 4 but are generally within shooting range. Tier 3 is a program that will make the 12 team playoff consistently. Tier 4 is when you sometimes make the 12 team playoff but are generally within shooting distance. Tier 5 is a consistently top 25 team. Right now I have us at Tier 4. If Sark and his staff coach us up we should jump to Tier 3 quickly. I dont think that does much for us recruiting wise compared to what we have been doing. That tier 2 zone is our sweet spot, but we cant get there without a massive effort in the bagman and NIL area. I just dont see it as of today. We just arent as motivated as the current Tier 1 and 2 programs. The fact that we are letting "compliance be our guide for now" with the NIL tells me all I need to know.
  5. When you think Sark will cruise to a top 5 class.
  6. Kid has an offer from the entire SEC West, is from Mississippi, and is down to us and aggy. Seems like a very unique situation.
  7. From Suchomel: For most of his recruitment, the focus for defensive lineman Aaron Bryant has been focused on SEC schools, with programs like Georgia and Ole Miss receiving the most buzz. Coming out of his June official visits, there is one SEC school that still sits high on Bryant’s list, but it’s a Big 12 school that has made its way into the Southaven (MS) standout’s top two.In the last two weekends of the month of June, Bryant took official visits to Texas A&M and Texas, and those two schools currently sit atop his list.“Texas is right at the top. Honestly, the two schools I’m considering the most are Texas and Texas A&M. It’s going to be a Texas battle at the end of the day. That’s what I feel,” Bryant said. “It’s the scheme fit, the people there. It’s the need they have, the way I feel like I fit in the room with the guys and the way I fit into the schemes.”Following his Texas official visit, Bryant told Orangebloods.com that a number of factors piqued his interest, including the city of Austin and getting to know defensive line coach Bo Davis.“Something that really stood out for me, we talked a lot of football. That was really important for me. Getting to know coach Davis was really cool, getting to know him better,” Bryant said. “And just getting to see everything, see how beautiful Austin is, that really stood out to me.”At 6-4 and 295 pounds, Bryant is considered a pure defensive tackle prospect, but under new Texas defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski, the Longhorns’ expect versatility out of their d-linemen and the coaches told Bryant he fits that bill perfectly.“They feel like I can play a lot of positions on their defensive line and that’s important to what they’re trying to do. I really like the fit as far as the scheme goes,” Bryant said. “They run a 4-man front and it’s an attacking style. I feel like I’m a penetrating type of defensive tackle, so that’s very important to me. I really liked that part of it.”In getting to know Davis better, Bryant said their talks weren’t really about Xs and Os. The conversations more centered on Davis’ experience in coaching players, both in college and in the NFL. Davis’ resume certainly caught Bryant’s attention.“Coach Davis, we didn’t talk about the scheme a whole lot. He said what’s really going to be important is development. He said the scheme is always going to be the scheme. We didn’t talk about Texas a whole lot,” Bryant said. “It was more him talking about me and how he was going to develop me. That really stood out to me.“I feel like coach Davis is definitely one of the best guys in the sport. It would be an honor to play for him. He’s put a lot of guys into the NFL. He seems like my type of guy as a coach. I’d love to play for a coach like him.”Bryant holds close to 25 scholarship offers. He doesn’t have a firm date for a commitment, but said he’d like to come to a decision in the near future if things feel right.“It’s going to be a really hard decision. It’s time for me to take a step back, pray about it, think about it and hopefully come to a decision soon,” Bryant said. “I don’t really have a timeline, it’s just whenever I know. When I know, I’ll make a decision.” https://247sports.com/Recruitment/Aaron-Bryant-144619/RecruitInterests/
  8. There’s plenty of willing young money in our fan base. The issue is engagement and organization. Work will get done to put something together and then it all falls apart at the last minute. Seen it happen twice. There’s also concern that people could get exposed and alienated from the program. Most of the young O&G guys I’ve talked to that have donated seem to really like CDC. He does a good job of making them feel special. It’s the older crowd that was involved in the UM stuff that soured on him. From the guys I know in that crowd, CDC sounds like a fucking moron to me. Lots of complaints about his thoughts and suggestions during the UM saga/coaching change.
  9. There are no rules. It's an arms race. Our program is barely on the track while all these other schools are running as fast as they can.
  10. I think if you're looking for possible violations that means you're not a fan of a program thats trying to win at all costs.
  11. I mean you're not wrong but you gotta ask what it is going to take to get into that small group at the top of cfb. It takes elite coaching combined with elite recruiting. Ohio State just landed their sixth 5 star and its only early July. Alabama is turning players like Coleman away. Clemson and OU have yawned their way into the playoff. If you're going to win big, you have to completely sell out. Otherwise we are just pissing in the wind.
  12. Excuses. It either gets fixed or it doesnt. If we have to way overpay for a couple cycles then so be it. We arent even competing with the big dogs on that level. You gotta be all in because these other programs are. We should be Georgia West with a better brand. We aren't even close.
  13. The reality is our failure to land elite recruits on the OL and DL will keep us from taking the next step. Nothing matters until we get those areas fixed and stockpiled into the future.
  14. Some comic relief- Suchomel already admitted he's on vacation. Here's his 9 pm "update": Been checking around on Kelvin Banks, who will announce tomorrow. Banks is still talking to his family about his options from what I was told. Texas has been in contact today via messages, but I do believe Banks has had more detailed conversations with both Texas A&M and Oregon today. That would seem to be a sign.Texas is still hanging around in this one and in communicating with a key source, there's still some confidence that the Longhorns can win, but I think it's also safe to say that there's some nervousness in Austin due to Banks' keeping everyone in the dark.Tough one to decipher because there are some mixed signals (again), but right now I'd favor either Texas A&M or Oregon to win out. Sounds like Banks is still undecided (or that's what he's telling people), so there could still be some late movement. I can say with confidence that he has not told any of the coaching staffs that are recruiting him of his decision. We'll have our final answer tomorrow at 3 p.m.
  15. My guess is Nahlin will magically come up with a "new" update tomorrow before 3. Coaches and source are truly shocked blah blah blah. This happens sometimes blah blah blah.
  16. This and I would think you would want to attract as many NIL pitches as possible. Just good business. Take all 5 visits, do your best to convince all of them they have a good shot at landing you, and then pick the school that you think will make you the most money. That scenario would make getting good recruiting information much more difficult and will make some commitments seem like they came out of left field. Im sure things will normalize after each school's NIL opportunities start to show a track record. But for now its kind of the wild west and I have a hard time putting much stock in 9.95 info that was already suspect.
  17. I kind of wonder if the NIL stuff has made kids and their handlers more cautious in tipping their hand on their recruitments. Seems to me that you would want as many schools thinking they have a real shot at landing you as possible in order to attract the most NIL opportunities as possible. Probably overthinking it.
  18. Ive gone to cancel orangebloods twice and both times they gave me 6 free months to stick around.
