  1. I like the "it don't make a shit" theory
  2. My earliest sports memory was USA being chanted in 1980 for the mircle on ice. DId not understand much about it except that we were essentially the ultimate badasses just by the fact we were americans. Then an understaning that the Dallas Cowboys were the best football team ever, which led to a huge haul of Cowboys stuff for christmas 1980, and then my first experience with sports disappointment when dwight clark made the catch. I blamed myself for that forever, since I didn't watch it. My parents made me go to some kids birthday party at mcdonald's (remember the 80's birthday parties at mcdonald's). We heard the catch on the radio on the way home. I had set up all my cowboys paerphanalia facing the tv in our den. when I got home some of it had fallen down.
  3. I was a huge Mark McGwire fan in the late 80's, because back then the 61 homerun record was a huge deal and he hit 49 in his rookie year. He seemed to be the best chance for a historical record in my lifetime. I was in middle school and seriously into card collecting, although that mostly was shoplifting cards from walmart on my wya home from school with my friends. I think I got the entire Topps set in my back pocket at Walmart. Turned me into a A's fan and a bash brother's fan. Had the posters on my wall. When crippled Kirk Gibson stepped up to the plate in the 88 world series and knocked it over the wall I was heartbroken and punched a dodger friend of mine the next day at school. I rememeber details of the Oakland A's line up that year, but I'm llucky if I remember my anniversary
  4. Tears for Fears are timeless. If you didn't know their songs were from the 80's you could easily see them being a new band promoted by the Spectrum on Sirius XM
  5. Then i quickly found out you could look at nekkid ladies on there
  6. I started at UT in Fall 1993. I remember the first day of class Professor says you will need to go get this off the internet. I looked around at everyone else, too embarassed to admit I had no clue what the fuck the internet was.
  7. yeah, I live in Portland metro, and winters suck- driving to work in the dark and coming home in the dark, plus it's rainy and all that. But the summers are awesome. Long summer evenings with plenty of daylight. Decent summer temps, no 4 consecutive months of 110 degree temperatures every day. So it balances out.
  8. I also drunkenly tumbled down the steps in the aisle when Chance Mock led us to victory over Texas Tech. Once again in the student section, although I wasn't then still a student.
  9. I remember going pretty crazy in the student section when this happened https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7nSNJiF-m8&ab_channel=trivinity
  10. One thing about early Mack Brown in the early 2000's. We'd lose in a catastrophic fashion to ou then run the table. Our lack of big 12 championships, while not Texas standard, is more a fluke of the Big 12 structure at the time when the big 12 south champ played a pushover in the championship game. Mack did build us back up to when Texas was truly "Back" with Rodrique Wright rumbling 65 yard into the end zone aginst ou, That moment was when I knew we were what Texas should be. This game against K state feels like a fork in the road, either we are still in people casually joking about Texas being back territory, or we are in, "oh shit, Texas is back, hope they screw it up like they did last time, otherwise we are fucked" territory
  11. All i have to say is Fuck K state and the combine they rode in on.
  12. Tech vs ASU - the STD shootout!
  13. Well, Cal shouldn't have gotten their ass spanked by Tech in the Holiday bowl that year if they wanted to have a legitimate argument that they got screwed over.
  14. Did herbie just draw a dick on the screen when they were talking about Madden and the telestrator?
  15. Crazy Mary I believe. Definitely Drag worms in the 90's, the younger ones liked to call themselves gutter punks
  16. Holy shit, you're right. What the fuck was I thinking Littlefield fountain
  17. I always wondered why they were going the wrong way past the littlefield fountain if they were headed to the stadium.
  18. I was the same way in the first half, we had two penalties one delay of game on purpose to give us more room to punt, and one hold on the punt that didn't really matter no sloppy penalties
  19. I was kinda hoping for roll left on that for old times sake
  20. I loved how Herbie called him out for going too deep on the rush and leaving the lane open earlier then when he played it better on the sack Herbie didn't say shit
  21. She was gorgeous
  22. Flatter than a tabletop Makes you wonder why they stopped here Wagon must have lost a wheel or they lacked ambition one On the great migration west Separated from the rest Though they might have tried their best They never caught the sun So they sunk some roots down in the dirt To keep from blowin' off the earth Built a town around here And when the dust had all but cleared They called it Levelland, the pride of man In Levelland
  23. I remember it this way too. Sounds bizarre but Baylor was trying hard to jump on the coattails of Texas to the PAC and leave Colorado left behind. Colorado moved first to eliminate any chance of that possibility. They are kinda like your dog that runs out and hops in the truck and sits there for hours before everyone else is readuy to go to make sure they aren't being left behind.
  24. I have an old Randall Knife, but I broke a half an inch off trying to stick it in a tree
  25. Woopdie fucking Doo Tennessee. Not the first name or even 2nd, 3rd, or 4th name I thought of when I found out we were going to the SEC. But yeah, Rocky Top is cool and all, although I never heard anyone from the Texas perspective say anything about "who is the real UT?", so that might just be one of their hangups. ok , cool, hook 'em
