I think it is tough for a HC to coach a position. He gets pulled away a lot. He may need to bounce around. If he was at WR or TE, I would be 100% with that. I think QB is tough and you want someone more qualified working there. . OL seems similar to me and Pittman and Crystobal have fulltime OL coaches. Just my opinion, I could be wrong

I mean it’s actually not un ordinary. Sark and Day are the only two I can think of. Napier, Mullen, Leach, and Riley all are head coaches who call plays and coach QB’s.

  2. If its all about recruiting, Tee Martin is a name to watch for the WR job, I know that he's in the NFL but he and Sark are buddies. I have absolutely no clue who would be an instant impact, youthful, volume recruiter type RB coach hire other than Samples, but im sure there are more out there. I know we all believe it but it needs to be said again and again Coleman needs to go, he had more to sell than any other offensive position group and the haul that we ended up with is unacceptable at a school like Texas.

A part of me wishes Sark would do like Napier did at Florida and just name himself QB coach. Milwee seems great, especially if he pulls Arch here in a coupe of months, but we could potentially add another ace recruiter or GP on Defense if he was not taking up a staff position. I wonder what his value is if he's only bringing in one guy per cycle.

I would think Gilbert left Lancaster wanting a less involved, off-field role. Also has he ever coached RBs / can he add value on-field? It's not all about recruiting.

I'm actually not opposed to the Harris promotion if he can actually coach, which I have no clue on. He may not be a plus Director of Recruiting, but he'd likely be a good recruiter relative to other position coaches (like Drayton).

I'm liking this Pitt name although he seems like a better WR coach candidate tbh.

Nope. It was a tough decision for him. He came ultimately because it quadrupled his salary and he got to live in Austin. I’m telling you guys he works really hard. He does what is asked of him and more, ask around and see what Bob Shipley did compared to what Chris Gilbert does

For all the talk of Carrington being overrated, has even 1 single signee mentioned Harris as a positive factor in their recruitment?

Well, Arch manning likes him and so did guys like Evan Stewart, Derrick Brown, Finkley, and Malik Murphy. He is just not as good as Carrington and lacks the creativity necessary for his position. I do not think he would be a terrible hire, we could do worse, but we can definitely do better. In reality, our entire support staff apparatus needs to be improved. Other SEC programs have multiple guys like Harris and Carrington.

Gilbert also wouldn't be so bad because he would be a real force with guys in state, hes not only well connected with coaches but I know for a fact that hes been reaching out to trainers too. He is a really well liked guy by all. And he is very organized in his approach. For an example, at Lancaster High, he had it set up to where guys were on multiple year waitlist to get on staff under him. He would build everything to where it was like a constant chain of internal promotions so he always maintained his culture. Many of his guys are now head coaches. I personally know a lot about Gilbert and im just telling you that would be very well received by THSFB coaches. He has the all relationships established that you could hope for.

Surprised Quinn's return has had zero impact on receivers thus far.

It’s December 16th buddy. We have been linked with Boutee out of LSU and Marvin Mims should they portal. Just yesterday, Nahlin said that Texas has a star portal receiver locked up if he were to enter but he’s mulling the decision right now. This is not something to panic over at the moment, imo. A long offseason awaits

Re: WR's - I still have high hopes for Jaden Alexis - I think he is talented as hell and could surprise if he is fully recovered.

Yeah I want to see him play. He is also a speed demon. Kelvontay could be solid with some confidence and coaching too, he’s shifty.

What is the outlook for J. Sanders? He play at all this year?

On the FCB podcast with Cade Brewer, he said JT makes a bunch of catches in practice or whatever but he sounded most impressed with Helm and Davis. He said Davis is the fastest TE and has the best hands by far of the group. He mentioned Helm as being the smartest.
