This is a reactionary opinion.  There isn't enough data on Sark yet to make that judgement.

Each of our previous two coaches was given enough time to show what they were capable of.  Charlie earned his shitcanning with three straight losing seasons.  It might have been a good idea to give Herman another year, but he was a miserable cunt who no one liked so he kind of earned his shitcanning as well.  Sark has had one season, and that's not enough time to draw a definitive conclusion.  If he continues to lose, he'll go, but any suggestion of firing Sark after one season is an opinion to be disregarded.

Very true and I think most reasonable people agree. Much of the Sark angst is because people really trusted him and had high expectations this season and he let them down big time. Sark's ability to lead this program is not being questioned based on his actually coaching ability or his offense, most people love what they've seen. Its the Arky, Kansas, and Iowa State games. Those results cannot and should not ever occur at this program. That is the data which has many concerned. My hope for Sark is that we had zero returning production from last year, our QB and OL play was garbage yet we still had one of the top offenses in CFB, and under him we are going to be elite again on special teams. It appears that he has to really screw up not to win 8 next year. But another losing season would be impossible to defend, that would be all the data we need.

    Spoiler

Sources at Texas confirm football program's interest in former TCU coach Gary Patterson....

    Ketchum

Just got off the phone with a source with connections to the Texas football program.

The bullet points of what I've been told:

    a. There have been conversations with Texas officials and former TCU head coach Gary Patterson about a possible role within the Texas football program in 2022.

    b. It is unclear as to whether Patterson has spoken with Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian or what specific role Patterson might potentially take with the program, but Patterson has a very good relationship with Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte. The exact specifics of the conversations are yet pinned down, but the expectation is that Patterson would go through Del Conte in early communications.

    c. Patterson seems very open minded about the possibility of joining the Texas program based on the impressions our source had received.

    d. Patterson is very close with former Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds and his wife. In fact, we were told that Patterson visited Dodds last month in a trip to Austin.

    e. While our source wasn't sure of the exact position that Patterson might potentially take in the Texas program if such a thing were to actually happen, it isn't believe that Patterson would take an analyst position. What does that mean? It's not a question I can fully answer at this moment.

    f. Our source believes that Patterson might also have an interest in a position with Oklahoma if that opportunity popped up in the wake of OU's coaching upheaval. As someone that believed Patterson would only come back as a head coach in his next job, I've been told that Patterson is apparently open-minded about his next step in the profession.

    g. Finally, on another note, I asked this source if there were rumblings of potential changes to the staff following the 5-7 season and while this source was very careful with the words that were used, there was a suggestion that nothing should be written in ink with regards to the current make-up of the staff for a variety of potential reasons.

    Stay tuned...

He did adjust his scheme a few different times. The results didn't change.

We need to make changes but im not completely hopeless concerning the defensive staff. We played really well at different points in the season. Iowa st first half, Oklahoma state first three quarters, Baylor first half, and K-State were all pretty solid. That shows me that for the most part they are good with initial game planning, but they also displayed that they are laughably inept with making in-game adjustments and thats what's most concerning. There is a sliver of hope that continuity would help them in that regard but im not gonna lose sleep if any of them get the axe. What they did this year was unacceptable for this university.

I do agree that competent edge play and pass rush solves the majority of our defensive issues, id add in safety play to that as well.

Dewberry is a heavy lean, if not already silently committed, to aggy.

I'd be thrilled to be wrong about my statement, though

I’ve read the Dewberry is leaning aggy. Have you seen something different

He is definitely not committed rn, and I wouldn't call him a heavy lean at all. Aggy insiders have no idea what to expect. The recent article of him talking about his imminent decision and comparing Texas with A&M made it very clear he has a great relationship with Sark & Flood and is most intrigued by the prospect of early PT. He believes in Flood's ability to develop him into an NFL player(probably the most important thing). He also mentioned the "group" pitch that some 9.95ers have mentioned. The only school that could happen at is Texas since DJ Campbell is not going to A&M. Lastly, in the article, he pretty much restated word for word Sark's recruiting pitches in previous press conferences. He is receptive to the Texas's vision and is set to meet with UT coaches today on a day where it's possible he will announce. Those are the reasons for optimism with his recruitment, but admittedly no one has a good read at the moment.

In typical Nahlin fashion, he just dropped a link to Gary Patterson’s music video in the coaching carousel thread on IT with no context.

there might be something weird going on with GP and OU. He liked a tweet yesterday of a fan saying he should be HC there, and recently started following Joe C and the OU prez.

Why are so many expecting a 5-7 team to recruit like we're 7-5.  I mean, 11-1.

Because you know we're not 11-1 let alone 7-5, right?!?

We're kicking ass to be where we are in the team recruiting rankings.

    Lucky as shit.

Its really a hard sell. but this coaching staff put themselves in a hole. There's no excuse losing to Kansas, that is why we are here. The portal is the way to go.
