I am saying Choice inherited a great group of running backs from another coach. And he did coach those players well. When we were left with the players he evaluated and recruited things went to shit pretty quickly. And for that he definitely deserves criticism. Even last year in advanced metrics Texas running backs were near the bottom of the SEC.
It’s also completely reductive to say recruiting is just about convincing someone to play for you. Evaluation is every bit as important if not more than the convincing part. This is the issue I have with Choice. His players like him and he made sure not to screw up sure things but man he was kind of shit in picking the right guys to play for Texas.
I just cannot reconcile how someone could watch Stroh practice in the spring and think to themselves “Yep that’s what we need to start at LG for a playoff run in the SEC”. There is no way Flood should be allowed to coach at Texas next year.
Too many knee injuries unfortunately for White. One name I think could be interesting as part of a two back portal class is James Peoples. He was RB1 at Ohio State before Bo Jackson took over and he is a Texas native. It sounds like he will be in the portal.
Austin Mack is a JAG and everyone at Alabama knows it. They went all in to recruit Russell. They may choose to sign a veteran but if they do Keelon is gone.
Alabama has Russel waiting behind Simpson. I doubt they bring in another QB to start unless they are fine losing him. LSU you have to think Kiffin brings his guy from Ole Miss.
A standard that no other team had to meet. Indiana created a schedule of cupcakes. But just win baby! The lesson here for Texas or Notre Dame or anyone else paying attention is playing 12 cupcakes will still get you in the playoffs as long as you win. Our wins against Vandy, A&M and OU mean as much as James Madison beating Georgia State by one score.
It’s only losses that are counted. Thats it. The schedule should be created to minimize losses. A loss hurts and a quality win does not mean anything.
If we are wish casting, I would see if Dakorien Moore would talk to us now that Oregon promoted a literal retard as its offensive coordinator? He’s every bit as talented as Coleman and more of the type of receiver Sark likes.
That’s a very weird set of rhetorical questions. For the entire season up until the Vanderbilt game, we had a bottom 10% offensive line in college football. That’s completely unacceptable at Texas. We recruited and evaluated our own roster poorly. Flood is the main reason (along with Akina) we are sitting at home during the playoffs. You have to fire Flood.
