  1. I’m actually local to OKC. I really wanted to watch the Horns, but my dad went into the hospital. We’re going to watch it together from his room.
  2. I didn't know this before today, but the men and women were ranked #5 and #2, respectively, in the first week's rankings. They both had a larger drop in the rankings in the 3rd week. I don't follow the teams, so I don't know what happened. In contrast, there are examples of teams initially ranked between 100 and 200, who improved and made it into the top 20.
  3. Though we may never do it again in our lifetimes, we need to root for the Aggies to beat USC in track. Aggies ranked 2nd compared to USC 1st in men's track. Aggies ranked 2nd compared to USC 3rd in women's track.
  4. Men's track participants in championships (where ranked in prelims) Xavier Butler, 200M, 8th fastest Kendrick Smallwood, 110M hurdles, 1st Kody Blackwood, 400M hurdles, 1st 4X100 relay, 3rd 4X400 relay, 6th Osawese Agbonkonkon, 17th, but his height is very close to 1st Kelsey Daniel, triple jump, 5th Texas Tanner, discus, 11th Texas Tanner, hammer, 4th We need to finish 13th or better to match our expected points. Last year, 13th place scored 19 total team points. Last year, we finished 12th and scored 20 total team points. Texas won the decathlon and had a 5th place finish and 2 6th place finishes to score the 20 points. If Texas can do well in the hurdles, relays, and hammer, then we have a good chance to place better than 13th.
  5. OSU saves our bacon and finishes off USC 9-0. TCU could have helped our cause by beating USC in the first game, but they got blasted.
  6. That’s the plus or minus of being a highly ranked team before the competition. You’re expected to win a lot of points, but could score less than the projection. I think USC’s track teams are 1 and 4. So if that team doesn’t win the championship, they underperform.
  7. 7 or 17 additional points if we finish 2nd or 1st.
  8. The odds weren’t in our favor. One of our lower ranked players versus one of their best.
  9. First match might be the key as teams are tied. And first is tied with four holes to go. Texas was 2 UP but lost 2 holes in a row.
  10. Texas up 3.5 to 1.5, with players on holes 7 to 10. One match tied. Texas up big in another match. All other matches are 1 UP.
  11. Nice rebound over the last 9 holes.
  12. I know. Other schools are -12, -8, and -5 today.
  13. If Georgia and us win game 3, we will face each other. We would avoid Florida in game 1.
  14. Finally a few birdies by Texas. 2 from the same player.
  15. They're struggling early. Every other school except Texas and one other has been negative for today.
  16. #1 Stanford loses to Northwestern in women’s golf in above upset, losing 10 points off their maximum and expected score. Perhaps USC becomes our biggest threat.
  17. This would shock you, but the people in OKC praise our team for not whining to the refs compared to how much Luka does or how much Westbrook did when he played here.
  18. I don’t know if it would have made a difference in the standings, but the Aggies losing the regionals gave Stanford a path to the CWS and scoring more Directors points. But a walkoff homer sent Stanford home, so I’m sure their maximum points just went down.
  19. Plus the price of oil hit a 4 year low earlier this year.
  20. Men’s tennis moves into the semis earning 10 more points and also matching their expected points. If they make the finals they will score either 7 or 17 additional points.
  21. Hypothetically, if they were to make a coaching change after the season, which coach would you not want them to hire, who would turn the program around and be a thorn in the side?
  22. There’s a new book coming out about quarterbacks written by Seth Wickersham. Arch’s recruitment is described as being ruthless. The book is on pre-order now. I wonder what details will come out.
  23. Last day of upcoming tournaments that will affect the projected top 4 shown above Baseball 6/23, Women's golf 5/21, Men's golf 5/28, Women's lacrosse 5/25, Women's rowing 6/1, Softball 6/6, Women's tennis 5/18, Men's tennis 5/18, Track and field 6/14 In my opinion, for purposes of these projected totals, it's better to go into a tournament and outperform your projection. If you're #1 like North Carolina lacrosse or USC track and don't win, then you lose points compared to your projection.
  24. Local and national media types are drinking the kool aid. Greg McElroy at ESPN said "I'm not sure there's been a team that's going to improve as much as I think Oklahoma has a chance to improve, I think Oklahoma is poised for a significant jump in wins. I think Oklahoma is poised to have some breakthrough candidates in multiple different positions." OU's counterpart of Craig Way said that OU got the top QB, RB, and WR (Gibson?) in the portal.
  25. Batting .714 so far.
