    Mad Men

Worst controls since arcade Dragon’s Lair…
  2. McRaven couldn't outmaneuver opponents of a UT Houston campus.
  3. Forget how she was treated, Hillary is 76. I'd rather nominate someone who an actuary would predict to live two full 4 year terms.
  4. Haha, I tried Cuantos Tacos Saturday and it was $17 for 6 misc tacos (two were pastor). Clearly I’m paying hipster prices.
  5. Can any of you that follow this better speculate on how exposed we might be on the prospect side to the draft? I’m presuming the Westlake shortstop is gone and that Rodriguez is potentially his replacement, or is that overly presumptuous?
  6. This is so long ago to be almost irrelevant, but I spent a summer working on a dude ranch in Granby and bounced around all the nearby towns running chores or going out to eat/drink. Everyone is just grouchy there compared to Texas. Summer resort season tends to be a bunch of teenagers running things, anyway, but the locals are weird.
  7. I don’t recall which version of the script it was that I read (clearly not shooting) but a predecessor version made the pedophilia even more explicit. Huzzah to this
  8. Excuse me? Talk to Me came our last year and was a huge success for a horror movie.

    Mad Men

Not the most compelling, but he probably has the most realized arc of all the main characters, at least in a traditional sense. @henrygandorfis about to lure me into a rewatch, particularly since I can’t get the wife onboard for Shogun.
  10. He’s doing remarkable considering he’s totally lost the ability to strike out batters and has been really lucky on balls in play. I’d DFA him.
  11. I bet Loperfido pitches an inning before this game is over.
  12. You appear to think the proposers of Harris taking over on this board actually like her. She kinda sucks. My advocacy for her is very much ONLY about winning. This is really cart before the horse, but even if she wins she probably fares poorly against a generic Republican in '28, presuming we all live long enough to see it.
  13. Also, just wanted to echo that shitting on Portland and San Francisco is very weird. As long as you aren't poor both are pretty great places to visit and live.
  14. End Game was 2019; they've been in a creative rut for 5 years and had the good fortune to have gotten a lot of credit for keeping the plane in the air after Favreau got it in the sky. I'm not saying they are terrible choices, they just wouldn't be my first pick to reignite interest.
  15. Off-topic but best omelet in film/tv history belongs to Big Night (although the interwebs is correcting me that it was a frittata).
  16. Obviously it's their story to tell as they will, but I really don't feel the need to experience cinematic labor yet again. Since you've been revisiting the Mad Men thread but I've been trying to compare to Don to Carmy as characters and asking why The Bear feels inert when Mad Men did not. Or perhaps I'm just not remember it well (I feel like everyone was struggling through the Megan episodes, although I personally liked them).
  17. Basically everyone their team besides Giancarlo started hot and the national media anointed them a juggernaut prematurely, as they typically do.
  18. You can find the same kind of thing composed of Aaron Sorkin scenes and he’s an Academy Award winning screenwriter. Hell, now that everything is recorded I bet you can find gibberish videos for pretty much any politician. Is your concern that she loses to Trump? The 2020 primary and running against Trump are very different match-ups. I’m also a little over the whole Dem “I only want to vote for someone that excites me” bullshit that makes everyone but Obama or Oprah seem incapable. You shouldn’t need to have rockstar charisma to adequately man the office and Biden has shown that you can do a pretty good job just by surrounding yourself with competence. Well said I’ve not made up my mind on it (man, if only there was a latino in a stronger position to run) but this was my hypothetical ticket last night and I love the idea of making gender so central to the argument of what we want the country to look like tomorrow. An older white man, even Kelly, just can’t make that break with the past so clearly.
  19. This is emblematic of an opinion which I don’t think there’s any evidence to support, and that’s “if Harris or whoever had been campaigning a year ago the ultimate result would be better.” If Biden withdraws you’re going to see an unprecedented amount of media attention in a short span of time and I think in this particular case, it won’t hurt at all to have only been on the trail a couple of months.
  20. Ah, so that cigarette is a last cigarette, that makes more sense.
  21. Anyone listening to Fox News isn’t voting Democrat regardless of the candidate.
  22. Well oops on my part, I was referring to lazy writing on the part of The Bear writing staff, not you or @henrygandorf. Although perhaps you thought my criticism lazy regardless, in which case touché!
