  1. Let’s be real, which of those four don’t have big red flags in terms of reliability. Plus everyone keeps presuming, without much evidence, that Garcia and LMJ would both be useful in the bullpen if we suddenly have enough starters.
  2. I’d rather they make smaller moves at multiple positions, personally. Definitely a bat at first and those are normally cheap, and then a reliever/swing man or fifth starter type.
  3. 7 runs on 11 hits, where has this team been all season?!?
  4. I don’t how much stock to put in this, but several “insiders” on Clutchfans have made the claim that Stone is pretty easy to read via his media mouthpieces, i.e., if it comes from Iko or Feigen then it’s what Stone WANTS them to say. I realize this started with Woj, but I really doubt they want KD, it’s got to be about Booker.
  5. I’m not sure he’s with a whole lot more than $18m on the open market if he can’t get 140 innings in, anyway.
  6. That’s a really good point. We know there’s no one in their admin capable of keeping a secret.
  7. It probably helped to have one of the best defensive minds of all time overseeing their development, fwiw.
  8. I just think Vitello is a far less likely candidate and is at an institution that is fanatic about sports, rather than just being fanatic about being weirdos.
  9. It's the job of the state to be cultivating candidates. They should understand that the DNC is not their friend in this regard. I know you weren't making that claim, but that's hardly a model I'd be eager to mimic. Johnson is done when his term is up and he's going to be useful only as a Fox News contributor blaming the Democrats for everything.
  10. Oh, all the $9.95 and radio guys monitor this website and it's predecessors for content. The grind for it is never ending and no one is creative enough to self-generate day after day.
  11. I’ve read too many draft previews and I think I’m switching my preference from Sheppard to Castle. Castle can put pressure on Green to get more efficient, be his replacement, or maybe spend a little time at point in a big lineup. Sheppard is a better fit with this particular incarnation of the Rockets, but he’ll need to get a lot better on defense to be a starter for Ime and I don’t think the Rockets want to build a team that hides a defensive liability in search of offense. They’d prefer to sacrifice offense for defensive soundness. That said, man, 40% from 3 taking 5-6 shots per game would be really nice…
  12. I wouldn’t worry about that, his problem is no one is paying attention to his ads, regardless of message.
  13. At least personally, I’ve never had the patience to drink them so slowly the ice actually melted all that much.
  14. I know this isn’t the case, because CDC isn’t malicious and chaos isn’t befitting The University, but I have to admire the sequence of events that will ruin today for Aggies everywhere, regardless of the outcome this evening.
  15. This-it was inevitable it was going Dem, Allred was right place, right time (which can be a skill, quite frankly).
  16. Counterpoint(s)-I doubt he gets to $50m and also I bet he’s not all that attractive to sideline donations, I.e., his donors are contributing elsewhere already. A dollar saved doesn’t necessarily mean it would be going to a more winnable campaign.
  17. It’s also probably worth repeating (yet again), that these sacrificial lambs are a byproduct of absolutely terrible state party leadership. There is no one telling Allred, “hey man, you’re doing great work in Texas 32nd and we’re going to flip the house and give you the opportunity for a plum committee leadership position. Let’s let you simmer a bit more and then run for something state.” He’s only 41 and clearly lacks the personal charisma to draw in voters. It need not be a career killer, however, if he’s continuing to build his resume and acquire chits for a future campaign. Who knows, maybe there was a deal made and the Biden campaign told him “you’re probably going to lose but we’ll get you a good role in the admin to run off for something in the future.”
  18. I like to imagine it was at the first annual Barking Carnival retreat; @closetojumping was already getting irritated by Scipio's "anything goes" philosophy in search of web traffic and then this nobody who works in a Pasadena oil supply parts shop and has like four different handles has the temerity to suggest that Pancho's, of all places, has the best enchiladas.
  19. I bet Bobby can defend himself (and considering he looked like he was 40 when he was 20, I bet he's pretty thick skinned). Maybe we think he's overrated because Nahlin loves him, not out of affection for @closetojumping? CTJ will deny it but I have a feeling some of his distaste is because of his East Houston blood vendetta against Nahlin.
  20. He’s not on the dl, right?
  21. Pretty compelling comments on Keelon.
  22. After only taking one LB last year I hope we get all the Polys AND Pettijohn.
  23. Espada=Charlie Strong
  24. Fuck it, let’s DFA Montero, too. Clean break with GM Crane.
  25. And made the CF look bad, win-win
