  1. Good posts @Bozo_Casanova and @Texas Jeff. It's interesting how some of our conspiracy minded complainers mirror the reddit Austin board whenever there's a discussion on building ANYTHING and I previously didn't realize how big a faction this might comprise. I presumed it was just anti-growth versus pro-development, but to read reddit and @Samson's Wig is to see a purity test requiring any current property owner to abstain from doing anything because they might stand to take some benefit from it.
  2. I remember when brisket was at $19 a lb at J Mueller BBQ and I thought that was expensive..:
  3. I know it’s just a coincidence but it’s somewhat ironic that Dusty gets booted and our game management wakes up.
  4. As usual, those son of a bitches in Tarrytown do a fabulous job making all of theirs look like accidents...
  5. I'm not going to out them publicly but there's three guys in Houston responsible for the vast majority of our NIL fundraising, at least to players that don't have broader appeal (Worthy, for example. Guys like Bijan are NIL earners without needing help).
  6. This hits close to home because I used to drive out to Cleveland when I was playing hooky... In all seriousness, probably the most surprising thing about your quoted article is that Liberty County has infrastructure regulations.
  7. He didn’t move up his timeline 2 months because of an OU loss.
  8. That one surprised me, too. Maybe I shouldn't have been--Louisiana is chock full of degree mill institutions of higher learning and for which the job prospects aren't much improved over a high school diploma.
  9. @closetojumping I'm sure will relish the opportunity to defend himself, but I'm pretty sure he wrote one of those "Black and Wingo are silents so make of that what you will." posts (i.e., a silent commitment is about as strong as a promise that "the check is in the mail.")
  10. I bet Jeter is also at least average at his spanish proficiency, too (I don't know how you can possibly run a team in Miami that has to have significant international scouting resources otherwise), but he wasn't going to risk a screw-up while the cameras were on (you just know Arod would have been all over him about it).

    Burgers

Echoing this, I think they have an underappreciated burger. At least 12 years; my wife and I had out first date at The Tigress and it was there then. I like that both places are very much neighborhood joints and not loved to death.
  12. I actually did something like that for a friend's birthday and Sherrill took it very seriously and sincerely. I felt bad about tricking him; he seems a nice old guy, even if he's at least partly responsible for ruining large portions of my childhood.
  13. This is a great discussion but I don’t know why anyone has failed to point out that 120,000 is a daffy number when categorized as “ready to roll out”.
  14. Also on Cameo and surprisingly affordable for those of you looking for a Christmas gift for that Aggie in the family that’s typically hard to shop for.
  15. Count me among the unsympathetic; a) the death threats are coming from your supposed “allies” and b) in 2023 death threats just come with the job.
  16. Funny, I had that same thought before taking a global politics class at UT. They have their own issues with two recent examples highlighted by Britain and Israel.

    Sushi

I’m not sure it fits best for this thread, but tried the Uchiba happy hour yesterday. We ordered pretty much the whole menu (whole, happy hour menu, that is). The food was good with a couple of highlights but definitely inferior to uchi and uchiko (I don’t know if that’s purely be design but they are going for something more informal-the server described it as Tyson Cole’s take on Japanese street food or bar food). Drinks, by contrast, were amazing, and $10 happy hour cocktails were a great value. If you’re on a non-uchi budget I think you can grab a couple of their hamburgers ($8.50 a piece, delicious if small) and have a fine fine time just sampling cocktails. Otherwise, they are doing a lot with eggplant and the pork belly skewers were perfectly rendered if a little bland (they won’t change your life but they were the next best protein after the burger). Somewhat surprisingly, all of the sashimi bites were fine but not better-stick to uchi or uchiko if you prefer their happy hour menus for fish.
  18. I’ve never had a good explanation for their angle in this-is it impossible to find a servile AG that is not a crook? They seem strange bedfellows.
  19. Maybe I'm just being insensitive, but I don't really get all the hand-wringing about the hospital. Israel is about to go into Gaza like the USMC did retaking Fallujah and there's going to be a lot more civilian casualties (and I'm not judging, I think it's impossible to prevent them). That said, if any possible Israeli culpability has an upside it's that it should quiet the Northwest Hills mom's current social media blitz of "If you're not with Israel you're against us." Wait, aren't ya'll Americans?
  20. Hopefully that’s the kiss of death for her campaign. John Whitmire might be uninspiring but at least he has to work for a living.
  21. Lost amidst all the talk of the ethics of retaliation is another aspect of this, which is that it appears the IDF is undermanned, under-equipped, and quite unable to put boots on the ground quickly as a future deterrent. I’m sure we have agreements to backstop them on supplies but your point is apt-how did you go through your munitions this quickly attacking a relatively small territory?
  22. I'm starting to see a lot of similarity between MBS Highway and TexAgs...
