  1. I said depth and development but maybe I should have been frank and just said marginal talent on the roster since you are so bored you want to argue semantics.
  2. They do fit my hypothesis. Barnes is unproven, sure he would probably get more snaps next year but no idea how good he’ll be. He didn’t exactly jump off the tape in the Citrus bowl. Zina’s is a bit more proven but has not to date provided production that can’t be replaced IMO. Same with Lefau and Moore. These kids ask are exceeding their production and these schools should be colluding to reset the market for those types at this point.
  3. Seems like there might be a resetting of the market happening for kids that are depth/development pieces. Makes sense to me from a school perspective. I’m all for these kids getting paid but at this point it’s obvious their expectations have become unrealistic. Has to be reined back in some how. We’ve lost a lot but I don’t think we’ve lost a true difference maker or any one whose production can’t be replaced. This has only become concerning because our approach acquiring players appears to very wrong.
  4. I wonder if our GM/coaches considered Michigan hired a credible coach and that team appeared to really come together leading up to the Citrus bowl game. A couple of data points that to me what have made me consider poaching players from that program might be a bit more difficult than we thought and we may need to scout/direct attention elsewhere just in case.
  5. We know what comes next. We let Bo walk and then fail to secure our primary targets at LB.
  6. I don’t know enough to know where the blame lies, but something seems wrong regarding player acquisition. Seems like Banks is the only coach that has his ducks in a row in this portal season. It appears too much focus was put on a couple of players that didn’t even enter the portal and then it doesn’t look like we were ready to pivot to secondary options, Reading that excerpt in the recruiting thread from 2026 recruits didn’t help either.
  7. “Wasted last year with Arch” “We have to go all in, this is Arch last year” etc…. The kid finished the year strong but he was definitely a part of the problem to start the season. But some of you refer to him as if he has been the second coming. Is he even a top 10 QB in Texas history? Regardless he hasn’t consistently displayed the type of talent that can’t be beat out by subsequent QB1s. I wish some of you would stop acting like Arch is our one and only chance. The next guy might be able to hit a crosser or a quick slant.
  8. I’m not sure why some of you still bother to listen to the 9.95ers. It’s their business to drum up excitement because that drives clicks. Upgrading particular positions was never going to be easy. As was stated before, letting marginal talent walk is just step 1. We still have to bid for the top free agents against other schools, no one was going to be a guarantee. Hopefully the staff/scout team had secondary options lined up. This team isn’t far away and it doesn’t necessarily need a Cam Coleman or Baugh although they would be nice to have.
  9. What has the other guys shown? Like it or not Wingo was our best option for big plays in the passing game, and while at times he failed he also converted first downs on crucial downs as recently as yesterday. I get it that you are down on Wingo but what was the alternative? And I’d push back on him ever being solely the reason for us losing any of those 3 games. That is an extreme exaggeration.
  10. Ehh. Wingo is the big play threat at WR. Sure he got more opportunities than most but it’s not like those other guys were setting the world on fire either. Based on what we’ve seen thus far Mosely is probably the best pure WR but he is more of a possession guy. I can understand going boom or bust with Wingo.
  11. Maybe we target him less with more proven talent around him. Parker was Arch’s roommate, I guess it’s possible they still didn’t like each other, but I’d find that hard to believe. Wingo was the first read on most passing plays for better or worse. But Arch would seldomly come off of him to go elsewhere or he would stay on the read too long. He never seemed super confident in those other guys.
  12. This reaction to Livingstone transferring is comical. I thought y’all didn’t care about losing marginal talent. Livingstone had all season to prove his spot should be solidified. He didn’t do that.
  13. I’m pretty sure Wingo has a similar stat line to Indiana’s #1 WR. Also catching contested balls isn’t just on the WR. We had a QB trying to figure shit out for about half the season. Both Arch and Wingo were better in the second half of the season. Wingo just needs to clean up those drops.
  14. I thought it was interesting how the tone of the game seemed to completely change late in the 3rd Q. Prior to that I thought the players were being friendly, probably carry over from joint bowl activities or something. I saw Arch dap a Michigan DL player after getting his pass batted early in the game. But once shit got serious we kicked their ass.
