  1. I don't think pointing to recruit rankings is proof this team is talented. Do we have some good players? Yes, but we also have a bunch of average to jaggish players as well. The RB room is the most talented group on this team. WR room with Whittington wasn't as bad as we feared in the offseason. I'm not even sure how to judge the QB room at this point. But after that please tell me what position group you've watched over 7 games that makes you feel like its a talented room. The DL group was supposed to be the foundation of this team and for the defense. Some of them flash here and there but none of them makes plays consistently. We struggle stopping the room and getting pressure on the QB. Hard to be bad at both. The LB room is bad, we have Overshown but even he has his flaws, Ford is showing some promise. CBs are marginal, kind of hard to gauge them when they are constantly playing 10 yards off the ball, they have flashed at times and we have also watched balls be thrown over there heads and they get beat on every 50/50 ball. The safeties are just bad, really bad. The OL is absolutely awful and can only execute a handful of run blocking schemes, can't really pass protect at all. TE's are allergic to blocking, mainly Wiley. They are probably better pass catchers, but unless Sark instructs Casey to make them the first read on pass plays, Casey will never have the time to get the ball to them. So ignoring recruit rankings, the eyetest tells me this team isn't talented, and on both sides of the ball aren't executing what they are being asked to do. The zero sum game in the offense probably hid a lot of issues that weren't realized until game action. I too would like Sark to be able to make adjustments to the offense but honestly I don't think the OL is capable.
  2. I'm willing to give Sark a pass on this season because the OL is putrid but it's on him to fix that shit in the off-season. Not sure how but he has to figure that out. And lol at calling someone with PK's resume a fraud. Don't think we have been outschemed this season. Players just aren't executing and more than half of them suck.
  3. He had a distinct role in the scheme last year at nickel that doesn't exist in this defensive scheme. He would need to be able to play safety in the current scheme, and he is slower than Schooler, Foster, and Thompson. This defense is desperately missing a rangy safety. As crazy as it sounds we probably would have been better at safety if Sterns came back.
  4. This thread really should just be renamed the Random College Football Notes and Offtopic Shit.
  5. Please don’t start ruining this thread with off topic bullshit causing me to go off on a tangent.
  6. Are you watching the game? The only adjustment to be made to save this OL was running OZ and stretch plays to the left. Once the defense starts sitting on those the OL can’t do shit . The recruit rankings don’t mean a thing, they were poor evaluations and/or never developed properly. Not sure how you can watch this shit show and think there is something we can adapt to when they can execute simple inside run schemes.
  7. Kid was here from Fri-Sun. Would be very surprising if he was no longer considering us.
  8. Wouldn't this be Tuckers 3rd team in 3 years? That would be crazy. If I was LSU brass, Aranda would be my first call, followed by Fickell, and then Napier. From what I have heard Brady does not want to come back to the college ranks.
  9. Adding Cosmi back into the equation gives you a bookend LT, and allows a reshift on the OL that makes them better as an overall unit. Adding Ossai gives us the pass rusher we so desperately need, and when you can get pressure on the QB that improves the entire defensive unit. These are two crucial components the current team is missing, so it doesn't really matter what their record was on previous teams, they would immensely improve this one.
  10. Adding just Ossai and Cosmi back on this team and we are likely 6-1 right now, 5-2 at worst. Both would be anchors on their respective lines resulting in better line play on both sides.
  11. I guess it depends on how bad Jimbo wants the LSU job. Can't see them guaranteeing 10 years. No one should, only dumbasses like the Aggies would.
  12. Weren't they paying O a comparable salary to Jimbo's?
  13. All of the LSU fans I know do not want Jimbo. They refuse to believe it is even a possibility.
  14. I agree he is getting outcoached but I think half of that is he is having to run an offense with one hand behind is back. I mean we can damn near only run the ball in one direction. Half of this board could likely scheme a defense to stop our offense.
  15. The biggest issues with the defense is the players it lost last year, and not scheme IMO. Not sure we are any better under Ash or Muschamp without Ossai, Graham and Brown.
  16. The collective on this board didn't want George the first time around, and expected him to eventually get processed from Bama. Now he is on our list of transfers wanted?
  17. You are right, this isn't rocket surgery. Being able to run the ball inside would probably solve at least half of the issues on offense. Do you honestly believe we come into the game without any inside runs on the play sheet. Do you think Sark just refuses to call them, we don't practice them during the week? In fact Sark tried to turn this offense into and IZ running scheme, do you not remember? Do you realize why we had to go away from that and resort to OZ and stretch plays? This OL is very limited in what they can do. And they are only marginal at one thing, outside running plays. They can't execute for inside runs, and they can't pass block either. So I am not sure what you expect Sark to do.
  18. Again, how are you defining talent here? Based on recruit rankings? Did you watch the game yesterday, did it appear we had more talent than Okie St on the OL? What about DL, and in the secondary? Gundy and Knowles were able to make adjustments and still have their players perform. Anything we do on offense is in spite of our OL. They can barely do the few things they are capable of doing well, once the defense adjust and takes plays away do you honestly think the OL can do things they aren't capable of all of a sudden? The results of the last 2 games after halftime should answer that question for you. And Sark and Flood damn near tried every OL combination possible with what they have to work with.
  19. Sark and company have to scheme around our deficiencies. Once the opponent appropriately adjust we have nothing left to offer. Only so much you can do with this OL and limited QB.
  20. It enrages me, especially when you have 2 senior corners. But neither plays with a ton of confidence and routinely get beat deep, so I guess that is to protect against giving up the big play.
  21. The OL looked pretty good against Tech this year as well, and in those two games you mentioned the talent they went against was worst than what Tech had to offer. It's not that they looked like shit, its about considering the context.
  22. The line was not perfectly find at the end of last season. If that is what you thought you saw when you watched then you have no idea what you are watching.
  23. I agree that the schedule isn't as weak as we thought coming into the season, and the talent on the team isn't as good either. Losing Cosmi turned the OL into a disaster. Losing Ossai made the entire defense take a step back. Even losing Ta'quon Graham has our run defense taking several steps back. There was no one on the 2 deep to fill those talents. I myself overrated the talent this team had coming into the season and undervalued the affect losing the aforementioned names would have. This team desperately needs and infusion of talent, and certainly hope the staff are recruiting for the transfer portal through backdoor channels at this point. Recruiting/evaluations/development has been piss poor with this current group. Very few bright spots, but they aren't bright enough to cover up for their entire units like Cosmi and Ossai did.
  24. Despite all of Sam's heroics I figured this team could survive without him. What I definitely undervalued was how much Cosmi and Ossai would be missed from the OL and DL. I figured this team couldn't be any worse than last year but I was wrong and it's mainly because of those 2 guys.
