They don't care which is why addressed it in the OP. Tbf from what I know Mar-a-Lago takes the anyone who can cough up the dues regardless of ethnicity. These clubs only take in a certain stratosphere of connected white people.
They've show time and time again they'll fuck people (for example) by cutting hours so their workers won't receive benefits like healthcare. All of a sudden they're going to play nice? And this isn't the boomer era anymore. These aren't jobs for college kids who could work one summer & pay off 4 years of tuition. Iirc I read a stat that almost half of full-time workers age 25-65 make about 30k a year or less. Cost of living is at an all-time high yet wages have been stagnant. Worker production is at an all-time high in the wealthiest country to ever exist yet wages have not caught up. You can only fuck people for so long. As we've seen during the pandemic these 'essential worker' jobs make the country run. Paying a wage to where you aren't homeless or get bankrupted & have your credit destroyed for becoming ill doesn't seem like a tall order for the greatest country on Earth. Idk.
That rumor was still going strong when I was in hs in the early 00s. Also Richard Gere shoved a gerbil up his ass. All objective facts as far as were concerned.
Because he tried to hide it and in his political platform he's constantly bringing up diversity, inclusion, etc., but in his private life he's apart of one of the most exclusionary clubs with a sordid history. This is old money WASP shit, not your local mcmansion country club. Donald Trump isn't white enough to be a member. Comic Tim Dillon had a great take on his podcast about this fwiw.
A lot of these clubs were/are for connected WASPs. You have to be a special kind of white. The South Hampton Beach Club routinely denies billionaires memberships.
He also tried to cover it up by transferring his shares to his wife.
Whitehouse, who has been outspoken about issues of racial justice during his tenure in public office, has been a member of the club for at least two decades. GoLocal Providence reported that Whitehouse vowed to quit the beach club during his 2006 Senate campaign but instead transferred his shares to his wife Sandra Thornton Whitehouse, making her one of the club’s top shareholders. However, a spokesperson for the senator told Forbes he “did not say that” and said the share transfer was to “accommodate a club policy of spouses not both being members.” When interviewed about his continued membership at the club in 2017, Whitehouse said “it would be nice” if the club “changed a little bit” and vowed to take up the issue of diversity “privately.”
How should he handle this? Yes, conservatives are using this as a political cudgel to feign like they care about systemic racism, that aside do you see a problem with him being a member of this club?
Jesus Christ I'm saying the flu vaccine and prevention should be pushed a litter harder & they shouldn't just let it run through. 80k+ is a lot. I give up.
