  1. I don’t follow these closely, but they look within reason from a cursory BaT search. Some are more tunable than others. All offer unique top down manual fun. Under budget: Viper (Gen II or III), Vantage V8 Roadster Over budget (probably need to spend $90k): 997 turbo cab, R8 Spyder V8
  2. Nor have I, just pointing out the possibility. I strongly recommend the GTS for resale because it has the flat 6. I don’t think the 4 cylinders will command a “last of its kind” premium. If you’re looking for an open air Porsche and resale is important, maybe consider a 997 turbo cab, a 991 targa, or a Spyder. They’re used and are holding value well. I have a 991.2 GTS and love it. You can’t go wrong with the Porsche driving experience.
  3. A Boxster would be a great weekend toy. Get a manual 4.0 GTS if you can swing it. Trim and options matter for value retention, but a Boxster will not hold value as well as GT cars or 911s. Porsche has walked back some of its electrification commitment. If they build another ICE Boxster, the 718 will no longer be "the last one."
  4. Maybe pool related... I have an undeveloped sloping backyard. At minimum, I want to level out part of it for a play scape and create space for the kids to play. Maybe add a trampoline or putting green. I have no clue how much this would cost - I assume at least $50k-$75k. I'm also considering the pool route, depending on how much each project would cost together/separately. Does Surly have any recommendations for companies that do this work in Austin?
  5. This was a great recommendation, thank you. I took my car to Harris Hill on Friday and it was a blast. I was nervous about doing this for the first time in the wet but it was even more fun that way. Jon was a great teacher. Very positive and encouraging.
  6. I'm looking to get some performance driving training. I hear Harris Hill Raceway offers some where you can take your own car. Does anyone have any other Austin area suggestions?
  7. You could look at our lineup when we went on the run during the Tucker injury, know that was a fluke, and many of those guys would regress to the mean. And here we are. Oh well.
  8. I just signed up for Fubo because of the blackout. Can’t do YTTV because the Astros but now I notice Fubo doesn’t have TBS which will carry some playoff games. So frustrating.
  9. Does the spending 'X' include federal taxes or just what you spend in a year to live?
  10. That will be an epic experience. Can’t wait to read about it. I’d do a Fjord green or Oslo blue coupe on a brown interior.
  11. Honest question. Do yall trust this organization to rebuild? Is Dana Brown the guy and if so, can he do it without Crane/Bagwell meddling?
  12. Submitting a new frivolous acquisition - 991.2 Carrera GTS in agate grey with 7MT. I haven't had a "fun" car in years. The itch has been growing and I settled on a manual 911. I've been patiently waiting for a car to come for sale with my preferred options and color (grey or blue). When this one popped up with all the boxes checked, I pulled the trigger. It is an absolute blast!
  13. Dusty playing 4D chess refusing to leave and further icing the closer
  14. I ordered a Yukon last November at MSRP from Covert Bastrop and the environment has only improved since then. That said, the Covert on 183 tried to charge $10k over sticker at the time. It took 2-3 months to arrive.
  15. When there are too many G wagons at drop off...
  16. Lots of good suggestions here. My parents are about 70 and live in a 55+ community called Heritage Grand in Cinco Ranch. They love it. Lots of social neighbors that take care of each other. I’d consider looking for a similar development in your target area.
  17. My appraised value is down 12% but taxes owed will still be up 10% this year and for the foreseeable future. Good times.
  18. What was the process like? I have a few cards I want to get graded. I know PSA was always the gold standard but do people look down on other graders like Beckett?
  19. Sample size of one but my friend has a X7 with 50k miles and it is in the shop quite a bit. I just got the wife a Yukon but have less than 1000 miles on it so hard for me to give any constructive feedback.
  20. Very small sample size but half of the homes FS in my hood went pending in December after months of stale inventory. Most everything left are renovation projects. It will be interesting to see what happens in the buying season this spring. We haven’t experienced one at the current rate levels yet. Will buyers come back in a meaningful way? If not, inventory will continue rising and maybe we see more downward price pressure.
  21. I’ve bought and sold vehicles on autotrader, cars.com and on enthusiast forums (if it is a vehicle that has a following). All went smoothly but I haven’t done it in five years or so.
  22. Based on the publicly available MLS, it seems like prices in my Austin neighborhood are down ~20% off their frothy spring peak. Most homes listed are sitting for months. Several flip houses bought between Q4 2021 through Q2 2022 have come to market recently and all are sitting, even after price cuts. I wonder how long the late train investors can hold on or if demand will come back before they break.
  23. We have DirectTV. May switch to streaming at some point during the lifetime of the TV.
  24. It’s new TV time. We mostly watch sports. Not gamers or big movie people. Is OLED the technology we want? Samsung, LG and Sony all have 65” OLED TVs for ~$1700. Are all these basically the same?
