  1. That cracked me up. Good work! Brazilian Portuguese = "tchau," same pronunciation as "ciao." "Adeus" is not quite as common; it has more of a formal "farewell" connotation. Of course, being a Brazilian of Italian descent, Fittipaldi could have gone with either "tchau" or "ciao" and PittsburghTiger would have heard the same thing. Except "chow." Definitely not "chow." 😂😉
  2. Vamos Tubarões Azuis! Go Cabo Verde Blue Sharks! (Mindelo is a cool town.)

    Austin FC

One of those USL guys is 15. 5 preseason starters have missed substantial time for the Sounders this season, plus international callups. They haven't had a full roster in any match this season. I like Austin in this one. Really like your new house and hope to come down for a match someday. Great looking atmosphere.
  4. Welcome aboard! Can't wait to walk in the doors on Opening Night - it's been a long wait. 🦑
  5. Gawd that shit is turrible. A huge part of traveling for me is the culture of the places I visit, and food/drink being a big part of culture, I'm usually diving in to whatever the locals enjoy. I really liked Argentina and would love to return... but I tried that shit and was damn! What the hell are you thinking? and it was back to the malbecs for me. One of the worst "national" drinks I've ever had that didn't have sneks in the bottle.
  6. Mais devagar, por favor - ainda estou aprendendo português. (Pelo menos é português brasileiro; nunca entendo os portugueses, nem um pouquinho.) Obrigado pela gíria, Patrício é Hefe! (My Spanish is nonexistent so I decided to suck at another language as well during lockdown. I knew I could count on Surly for some useful tips....)
  7. Fuck Oregon. Hook 'em. 🤘
  8. I hate ALL you burnt orange muthafukkas right now.
  9. Possibly not, but 3 of the top 4 teams in the conference were out, which didn't help the matchups any. Oregon was by no means the best team in the conference (although I think ISU probably beats UW or Utah, both those teams have much better defenses than Oregon).
  10. This game does not vex me.
  11. I said it in the other thread, but this has the chance to be a great hire for Texas. From a UW perspective, everything I'm hearing from both my group of tailgating reprobates and what I'm reading on the boards is that a clean Sark, with his experience at big programs and working under Saban, combined with Texas's natural advantages, could be a great hire. No, he's not Urban Meyer, and he'll need to make the right hires particularly on D, but he could do really well at Austin. I get the feeling that a lot of us here would love to see him - and UT - succeed. He's definitely not hated here. (We'd also like a home-and-home, plz.)
  12. I don't think Sark is a terrible choice for UT - assuming (as we must) that he's rid himself of his demons. He pulled UW out of its worst period in history (for which most of us here are thankful) and certainly has put in the time at Alabama. It will be easy for me to root for him at Texas. If he can build a solid defensive staff - his failing at UW - he's got the ability with the resources at UT to do very well. Yeah, he's no Urban Meyer but I think there is a very good chance he'll have success on the 40 Acres. Y'all did alright with the last former UW coach you hired (Darrell Royal). I'll be pulling for you and Sark.
  13. Well yeah, except Oregon, because fuck those guys. Go Cyclones. (I like ISU anyway, but this one's easy.)
  14. Yeah, that's like 1700 miles away. But hey, I'm good for it. I'll pick it up later. (Actually bought a bottle of that exact hooch and some Weller Special Reserve for my BIL in London for Christmas - I hate the prices over there but he's a great guy and loves bourbon, plus he keeps my sister on the other side of the pond.) 😂
  15. Can I throw Oregon in there? For a friend. Plus I like Iowa State.
  16. In. And belatedly want to thank all you guys who add to my knowledge of the sport - I've been fairly casually following it for +/- 20 years (still kind of like to get up at the crack of hell West Coast time to watch the races live) - but I've learned a ton from reading you surly bastards and the info you've posted both here and at TOS. Cheers to the lot of you - and hopes for normal racing in 2021 (although I'd really liked to have seen Portimão back on the calendar).
  17. UW just announced it's not pursuing a bowl game for medical reasons. Fuck you, 2020.
  18. Probably something to do with Larry Scott being an epic tool, but yeah.
  19. Both AD Cohen and Coach Lake at UW indicated that they hoped to prepare for a potential bowl game in their statements on not being able to go for the championship game - OTOH, it sounds as though their only shots at getting cleared in time would be for the Alamo or the Armed Forces bowls (or possibly some random game). My guess is the frustration at missing out on the title game as well as both rivalry games plays into that, but we'll see what actually ends up happening.
  20. Auburn would laugh at that money if they wanted him.
  21. There's nothing out there on either team not being able to play - CU sent the truck halfway in case USC can't go (if Oregon can't it would be Stanford or a no-contest or a plague of locusts or something). Since CU has no opponent and hence didn't go to LA they had to get the truck partway there just in case.
  22. Thanks man - it is what it is. Sucks when it's your arch rival benefiting though. Still will be watching the Big 12 championship and pulling for you guys!
  23. Fight On! (Sorry SB - meteor first, but if that doesn't happen....)
  24. Colorado lost last weekend. The conference should declare USC the champion and have Oregon play Colorado, but that would make too much sense. Instead they'll run the risk of a team that didn't win their division and lost their last two games to Oregon State and Cal claim a "conference championship" and a NY6 bowl bid.
