  1. The food in Europe is amazing - for whatever region you happen to be in. The quality tends to be better, they've been making it for a couple of thousand years, and there's nearly always a local wine or booze that goes perfectly with it. It's the diversity that's lacking compared to the US, even in the larger cities. Portugal, for an example - insanely good breads and pastries, even at the supermarkets like Pingo Doce, great seafood, wine - and piri-piri chicken is hard to beat. (Can't wait to get back to Tavira for all of the above.) But good luck finding much from anywhere else of the level of variety and quality you can find in most American cities. (Definitely agree with you as well re the breakfasts in Europe.)
  2. Well, yeah, the first 11 times. /no aggy
  3. Bonner? Depends on where you are - if its ski/golf/water, probably a reasonable mix of folks... if not, you'll hear banjos. Lots and lots of banjos. (Best friend grew up across the state line in Pend Oreille County and has a lake house there. The people at the lake are a pretty wide-ranging mix politically, which is nice, but drive a mile in any direction and you're an extra on a Squidbillies set.)
  4. Damn, just reading his tweet in his voice.... 🤣
  5. If there's a transfer portal for cheerleaders, aggy's already called.
  6. Yet another Big 10 loss. So sad.
  7. Hell, they dragged you off the West Coast - isn't that enough for you? 😂
  8. Move along; nothing to see here....
  9. Damn desert curse. I'm not sure we've won there since aggy was national champs.
  10. 3am kickoff came a bit early (Chur, Switzerland >>> SA, except I assume the Tex-Mex here is subpar). UT worried me before the game and that didn't end until the game did. I hate the "sit out the bowl" thing although it obviously helped UW. Of course, y'all are Texas and we are not, and the Horns' talent across the board is better than UW's even with all that. Sark? He got us out of the worst period in school history and for that I thank him - but it was time for him to go when he did. I honestly don't know what he can do for UT at this point. I was impressed by UT's defense in general; this was the most explosive O I can remember at UW and Texas stayed in it until the end. I'm a guest here, but a fan too and am glad I can go back to pulling for you guys. Hope to see more of the Horns in the future. A UW-UT home-and-home would be epic.
  11. That's not even a good troll, aside from that (and the incorrect date). Most of the players he mentioned are either long gone or just made-up names. The UW hasn't played anyone since Washington State. We neither play ball control nor worry much about TOP. Someone should be kind enough to show him where the bowl game is, at Kroger Field in Collie Station, and perhaps after he will regale us with a tale of how great everyone in Texas is and how although he's a lifelong "Husky" now he wants his kids to go to that incredible university he saw there simply because so many wonderful fans showed him around and said "Howdy!" and gave him a thumbs up even though there didn't actually seem to be a game going on at the stadium. Because that's the level of writing that was.
  12. See y'all in Portimão. (Or on the 2023 post - thanks all!)
  13. Unfortunately I thought we would suck again this year and made other holiday plans, so I'll be trying to stream it through a VPN at 3am in Switzerland. Sucks since for whatever reason we never play the Horns. Would seem to be a great home-and-home series opportunity. Still hoping to come down for a RRS soon though.
  14. Yes! Hopefully I'll be there during race week this time. 😁
  15. The Tarifa - Tangier ferry will be LIT! (Rode it this past summer and there were about 4 of us on it, so probably at least that lit.)
  16. That board's terrible. They were on the right side of things in the Willingham days but split off one of the other boards later in some sort of shit fight. If it were our version of Surly that'd be great but it's more like CR and texaggy joined forces and lost 95% of their posters.
  17. Yeah, same here. Some decent QBs have come through here in the years I've been watching, but this was an amazing season. Unfortunately I think Bijan will run roughshod through an extremely iffy defense - worse if the Horns can go at all downfield on a defensive backfield far, far worse than we had become used to up here. Should be a good game but it's definitely a road trip.
  18. Was there - that was a great game (despite UW losing). You just knew whomever had the ball last would score. IIRC, Texas was a double-digit favorite.
  19. @InkaUtexas you too. Most of the contributors on this thread are top notch and it's become my favorite thread on the Surl. Despite a pretty well-grounded knowledge of 20th century European political and military history, I learn a ton of stuff here daily. Thanks to all of you for that and for keeping us all abreast of everything going on. (And, since there's a few of you based over in Europe, if any of you are in Ljubljana New Year's Eve, drinks are on me.) 😉
  20. Lamentably I must pull for USC here in the hopes UW gets the consolation Rose Bowl berth. I feel so dirty.
  21. Kraken beat Kings 9-8 in OT (despite not scoring in 3rd period); highest scoring OT game in NHL history. Squid have won 6 straight. Much more fun than last season so far....
  22. Undefeated
  23. They really should just say "Ya know what, Mexico? We're sick of that 'puto' shit. Fuck on off back home."
  24. 3.45 am, sitting at the gate at Spokane Airport - ready to get home. Was planning on driving but today's weather in the passes is supposed to be 2 feet of snow, 50 mph winds. To hell with that. Weather was fine, mostly clear and around freezing. Usually it's worse. That was one of the crazier games I've seen in this series and I've attended 30 or so. Penix and the receivers were on all night. Sorry he'll only be here this year but what a fun one. Not sure if he's the real deal since Penix had such a monster season, but DeBoer wins everywhere he's been and a 10+ win season in his first year here is fine with me.
