  1. Ah - well, that makes more sense... a little more. I've just heard that line before and, well, you know, aggy....
  2. Oh, I think most networks would broadcast a trainwreck live if they knew it was going to happen....
  3. Some of the worst fans I've ever experienced as well (after Miami). Have been twice; first time I figured I just ran into some shithole fans like we all have but it was even worse the second time. I'm sure there are a lot of good fans like Parliament, yet it was certainly my misfortune not to run into any.
  4. Well, of course it is. Who needs those pesky extra downs when you can just throw an interception before you would actually need to punt? This must be another one of those things that they can't explain from the inside, because from the outside it certainly surpasses understanding.
  5. Wazzu isn't actually a bad place to watch a game, except of course the obvious challenges in getting there. The Palouse can be beautiful and Pullman is a fairly typical small college town. I'm sure SDG can give you pointers when you decide to go.... I've hit all the stadia in conference at least twice now - Bay Area usually just fly in and out same day when possible. They all have something around to do whether it be the city or the Western parks, don't they? (Again, probably excepting Pullman here although the Idaho Rockies aren't that far). Great conference for road trips even with the distances.
  6. Of course you do. Bastid. Sun Devil Stadium is my personal road trip house of horrors in conference....
  7. Shit, you always seem to win when it matters. I will never, ever forget 1990 - a bad Bruin team keeps UW from a likely first NT - which was followed by an actual one the following year, so even more disappointing. UW was #2 that day and #1 ND lost the next week - the Huskies went on to blow out WSU and then destroy Iowa in the Rose Bowl. Not the worst day I ever spent in Husky Stadium, but certainly way up there. That rat bastard Terry Donahue I believe had the only winning record against Don James amongst conference foes. (I actually respected and even liked Donahue, but damn it.) If both coaches stay in place, 2021 should be a great matchup. Hope it's in November. 😝
  8. Axe? Maybe chainsaw, but I'm gonna go with axe.
  9. Indeed. Long way to go for a home game, but there you are. Thought around here is that if UW loses to Auburn, even going undefeated the remainder of the way probably won't get us in. Lot of baggage being carried right now by both the conference and the Huskies. Looking forward to the trip down there in a few weeks though!
  10. All years are good years for college football. Except 2008. For me. Most of y'all liked it juuuuuuust fine.
  11. Cal's a fun trip (honestly, most of them are in the conference). Will probably go down there again myself this year. It's a shame you guys aren't up in Seattle again until 2021, though.
  12. Nah, mediocrity can beat up on each other too. More of a slap fight.
  13. This is correct... I think. The feeling here is that there's a strong likelihood that the Pac will once again be left out of the playoffs- Stanford and USC are also solid but we just beat each other up in this conference. It's what we do. I'm hopeful that by the time Stanford comes to Seattle the UW has figured out how to defend the jump ball to tall receivers. They sure as hell didn't know how in Palo Alto last year.
  14. Window cougars find us?
  15. He's popular here (was last year as well even though he wasn't going to play). Seems like a good guy and I hope he does well.
  16. Oregon is actually 7-2 in conference in your scenario, meaning UW wins the North on head-to-head. I can live with that. I can also see your outcome for UW, although I'll be in Atlanta the first Saturday in September anyway. Oh, and Arizona is UA... this isn't the Big 8 (NU, CU, KU, MU, OU - WTF? Never figured that out. Sounds aggy).
  17. Stanford is, as usual, solid. Glad UW gets them at home this year. While the Huskies return a lot and should be quite good again this season, the receiver corps is untested and there are some questions with the defensive backfield. One thing about the 2018 Huskies that is mostly overlooked is an unfavorable schedule - not only do they have only 6 home games (yes, the UW gave up a home game for that "neutral site" game against Auburn in the Seattle suburb of Atlanta), this is a season in which 5 of the 9 conference games are road games, including both rivals WSU and Oregon. That said, can't wait for the season to get underway!
  18. I didn't realize that about Coach Pittman (in my defense I was 4). Damn, that's rough but at least he was doing what he loved. Very cool that you got to know his son and hear what must have been some amazing stories. The coaching fraternity - especially at that level - is very small. DKR's replacement at UW was Jim Owens, one of the Junction Boys/aggy coaches. He did quite well to start (including 3 Rose Bowls and one of those dumb disputed MNCs in 1960), but I think the state of Texas got the better of that swap with the state of Washington in the long run.
  19. well not like that apparently... way to almost dox myself. Damn Surly with one edit allowed....
  20. Faroe Islands, bitches. Tórsvøllur Stadium - Faroe Islands 21 June 2018 (no, it's not falling apart; they're renovating the south side)
  21. Iceland, at least when they play Nigeria next Friday and I stand in a Reykjavik drizzle with a bunch of Icelandarianites or whatever the hell they are, hopefully drinking something and not eating rotten shark fin. (Will be rooting for Denmark for family reasons and because a good friend is a dirty Swede bastard; will be in Torshavn for their game against Australia but the Faroe Islanders may not give a shit about their semi-countrymen. Or maybe they will.)
  22. This is the correct response. WOOF! Was pretty sure I'd never see the UW make it to Omaha. The UW president tweeted her congrats within 30 seconds after the game. Love having a president who is loved by the academic side and loves sports herself.
  23. Hubris, thy name is aggy.
  24. OU, UO, whatever it takes. filthy bastids, the lot of 'em.
  25. Happy happy joy joy!
