  1. SeatGeek shows B12 CG tix at $37 to get into stadium, but that’s the fourth level, and no one wants to sit there. You can get in the third level for $60. To be fair, the SEC CG isn’t too expensive- about $120 to get in.
  2. Oh, pissing on Switzer’s grave is definitely on my bucket list. When will the fucker die?
  3. Remind me- who was held accountable for the November 1999 bonfire collapse?
  4. CTJ did a great job answering, but I can offer a little more… 1. Royal had two adult children die in the ‘70s. Plus, Switzer was not only cheating, not only getting away with it, but also openly taunting him, because Switzer is a true asshole. 3. I heard that Oliver Luck was the leading candidate, but in his interview, he made it clear that Mack needed to retire/be retired, and that needed to happen before he started the job. Because Luck is smart. Patterson gave assurances that he would follow Powers’ lead on the matter. Powers needed that, because he was in a precarious political situation. Rick Perry was trying to put the same “reforms” on UT that were put on TAMU, and he was stacking the BoR with amenable people (a couple not even Exes, as it was getting more difficult to find UT grads to appoint that would do the governor’s bidding). Mack was failing, and was using all his political connections and relationships among UT supporters in an attempt to hang on. Powers was trying to navigate Scylla (Perry) and Charybdis (Mack) and he believed he needed an AD that would do what he (Powers) told him. Powers was the key decision maker on the AD hire. By no means do I think Powers was perfect or blameless in this, but I tend to be sympathetic to his position. I think his goals were more aligned with the university’s best interests than many of the other big players.
  5. How does this make sense? How do you have a roster crunch, in this day and age? You know guys are going to portal out. And why would they process WRs? Aren’t they short on them? Isn’t Nic Anderson in the portal?
  6. I don’t think Sanders and Hunter will be playing
  7. Our schedule included three arch rivals. Yes, we played 6-6 Arkansas. We didn’t get the Hogs that lost to OSU; we got the version that beat Tennessee. Similarly, we got the 6-6 Sooners that beat Auburn, not the ones slapped around at home by the Gamecocks. And, of course, we got to play the 8-4 Ags team that beat LSU, not the slapdicks that lost to Auburn and s. Carolina.
  8. Mandel is such a shithead. Texas’ SOS is fine, and nothing to be ashamed of. Yes, no wins against teams ranked currently in the top 25. However, Texas has four wins against teams in Sagarin’s top 30.
  9. The final weekend TV ratings: https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college-football-tv-ratings/ Honestly- the B12 has properties, and is figuring out how to leverage them. OSU@CU: not bad at all. BYU game? They are like a Mormon Notre Dame and always have solid ratings. The one that jumps out at me- KSU at ISU (Farmageddon) for 2 M viewers. Wow. If you are old enough to remember 30 years ago, that would have seemed incredible. Yormark, job number one is figuring out how to make that game happen every year. The drag on the B12, frankly, is the Texas schools. Baylor hosting KU for the Bears’ 8th win? 412K. Eight win TT hosting WVU? 294K. Eight win TCU at Cincy? Streaming It’s not just the B12 Texas schools. Cal at SMU, with the Ponies driving for the CFP: 228K (actually, this was how it was in the early 80s, with the Pony Express. No one watched). The landscape is shaking out to be this: the Texas FBS programs left behind can help with recruiting. They’re not really moving the needle with viewers.
  10. I know he is trying to defend his conference from a hit to its reputation, but this issue will go away. In a couple of years, when the CFP expands to 14, only two conferences will have first round byes. The B12 champ won’t be relegated with just the other G5 schools. It will be relegated with the G5 schools and ACC.
  11. Thats why they call him “JV Joey”
  12. When you explain the idea- “the dead dogs are buried, and they have the mini scoreboard so the dead dogs’ lifeless eyes (rotted away) can see through six feet of dirt and look at the score, and u sweat and the numeracy, despite dogs being incapable of doing math when alive”- it sounds like the dumbest assed thing ever
  13. As much fun as I have running down the B12, I have to admit- if Texas got the six seed, I would much rather play UNLV/Boise than ISU in the first round
  14. There was a P5 when the 12 team CFP was approved, with four conference champions byes. It was always known that one of the SEC (Ha!), B1G (Ha!), PAC (eyes roll), ACC and B12 wouldn’t get a bye. Everyone assumed that, without UT and OU, it would usually be the B12, and occasionally the ACC champ that would not get a bye.
  15. Klatt thinks Bama is in regardless of who wins the ACC CG.
  16. https://www.star-telegram.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/mac-engel/article296175184.html
  17. With a win, Texas’ first game would be the quarterfinal. CFP says they will try to match the conference champs with their traditional bowl- so Texas would go to the Sugar Bowl as SEC champ. After the quarterfinals, the top remaining seed picks its preferred site for a semifinal game from the two choices: Cotton and Orange. I assume that if Texas gets the choice, it will be the Cotton Bowl game (Arlington). If Texas’ opponent chooses, it will be the Orange Bowl.
  18. I believed two years ago that the B1G screwed up by giving Oregon a home. UT and USC bring new competition to a conference, sure. They also bring new recruiting territories. And huge viewerships. Oregon brings none of that. They get their recruits in other areas, because they don’t have enough in Oregon. The B1G could have let them wither in a lesser conference, and lost nothing. But they let them join and they use that Nike money to pluck top recruits from other areas.
  19. OU hired an ATT exec to work for the AD, wrt player compensation. Here is the letter: Reading between the lines, it sounds like the House settlement raises the NIL floor for FBS schools, as they can now use AD revenue (up to $20.5 M) for player compensation. I don’t k ow that it does a thing to limit the (outside of AD revenue) NIL ceiling.
  20. If you don’t mind me asking, is the deal with Hudson one of these (both based on speculation): -He signed for a big multi-year NIL, underperformed, and was told he was getting a pay cut, prompting him to leave or -He signed, underperformed, blames the Tech situation and wants a new scene to try to achieve his goals as a player or something else?
  21. PSA- bets of this sort really need to be paid in cash, mailed, with a bogus return address. That is to ensure you don’t get a lifetime of solicitations for more money. Kudos for paying, though.
  22. It’s an older tradition than that. Senior Jerrod Johnson was replaced by Tannehill. Johnson had replaced McGee. McGee had replaced senior Reggie McNeal. McNeal had replaced … Farris? Did Farris replace McCown? It has been going on for a while
  23. What is your point? Yes, upsets can and do happen. What point are you making?
  24. Disagree some what. In 2022, a TCU team that really wasn’t much better than Texas beat Michigan in the semifinal. They used Duggan as a runner, which opens a lot of stuff up in college football. It’s like a cheat code But, he had 16 carries against Michigan, and he wasn’t recovered the next week when they played Georgia. In the 12 team playoff, I think B12 teams and ACC teams can win some first round games. They call it a “puncher’s chance”. I don’t think you will see them do well the second round. Lack of size on the lines will hurt them.
  25. Alabama would be a ten point favorite over BYU in a neutral site game. They would be a TD favorite over the highest rated B12 team, ISU
