  1. Oh, that’s easy. They liked the outcome. They didn’t want to make sure it was right
  2. UCLA should be there in the last 70 years. I have a fond spot for that team. Their coach, Red Sanders, called his wife one night to say he would be working late. He died later, of a heart attack, in a downtown hotel with a hooker and a bottle of liquor. I guess you could say that he died doing what he loved.
  3. In week 6, KU and UCF played on Fox- 1.45M. In week 3, TCU and UH played on Fox- 1.32M. The usual Fox games (non B12) get 2 - 4 times as much. I did see an OreSt-UCLA game that was comparable
  4. Won’t help enough. There will be two conferences that matter. The B12 will settle into 25-40k attendance and FS1, FS2 and ESPN2 broadcasts.
  5. Maybe Kevin Mar warned him first?
  6. Is Fox allowed to program gymnastics or figure skating, instead of B12 football, if they want?
  7. We have most of a season of ratings in. Brett Yormark has a problem. Ratings in games between the remaining B12 teams range from mediocre to wretched. In week 4, BU-UCF (added, because…Florida!) was watched by 340k, mid day on FS1. They were out viewed by the BTN also-rams matchup at the same time. Baylor has been relegated to streaming at this point in the season, with a streak of games on ESPN+. You could argue that maybe viewers were lured away by UH-TT on FS2 at the same time (it was viewed by 188k). In week 9, UH played KSU at noon on ESPN2, and was viewed by 371K. That’s 40k more than the viewers of UTEP-SHSU later that night on ESPN2. My prediction is that this conference will be taken over by the four add ins next year. If the Left Behinds are smart, they’ll let them.
  8. Absolutely. The DB made a good decision- do whatever it takes to keep him from catching it, and live with the penalty to fight on the next down. And then there was no penalty. I bet the DB was as surprised as anyone.
  9. I know that last year, two offensive holding calls made on Texas opponents were compensated for by calling personal fouls on Texas on later plays, to keep drives going. The same happened in the KSU game, except that the Texas pf was called on the same play as KSU’s holding call. Have there been any opponent holding calls this year, not undone by a personal foul? We really should be miking the officials’ locker and the review booth.
  10. You know, last year’s OSU game…14-0 on penalties, the announcers even noticing it and trying to speculate why (Dvoracek: “maybe OSU is just that much better coached”?)…OSU had two first time starters on the OL but no holding calls… That was a one score game. If Texas had won it, we would have been in the 2022 B12 CG instead of KSU, and probably played in the Sugar Bowl. Might even had beaten TCU in the rematch. This fuckery is dangerous to players, risky to coaches’ jobs and costly to programs, financially.
  11. Correction- on the Ewers scramble , they called Jones for holding. Replay showed it was a clean pancake. I suspect the line judge saw Ewers running free and looked for someone to flag, and saw Jones driving his man, cleanly, to the ground. The line judge wanted to see holding, and he found what he was looking for.
  12. So, Jimbo gets another year? There is one turnaround tactic that could be effective. It’s the tactic of evaluate your program, objectively, and candidly assessing “were I fired, what would my replacement do?” Then, do those things. I doubt Jimbo has that much self awareness.
  13. Is this TexAgs NIL situation as screwed up as it sounds? Not just them sharing donor info; TexAgs knows which players (recruits?) get how much? That doesn’t seem wise.
  14. I’m not worried about B12 refs going forward. It will become increasingly clear that only two conferences matter, and officials will start looking at SEC bowl games as job interviews. Now, these crews, like Mar’s crew, have a problem. Now that Weiser knows that he can count on them to lean on the scale, I doubt he stops making his wishes known in future seasons. That won’t be fun.
  15. Sark did the right thing in referring to gross season stats. If you point to one play, or one game, the other coach can say, “Hey, there were calls that didn’t go our way, too!” What can anyone say if the opponent never gets called for holding, and only in games against you? “We just play cleaner against Texas”? I did think of one thing Sankey could do. If he were to call a bowl, say the Gator Bowl, and say, “we’d like it if you didn’t have Big XII officials in this game. They seem to have biases that affect their calls”, I bet the officials would hear about it and clean their act up, tout suite.
  16. Honestly, we started calling out the Ags for a game when they started whipping our ass in recruiting. We didn’t expect them to agree; we were just trying anything to get on recruits’ radar.
  17. Sark spoke his piece. He can’t say more, without the story being “Texas whiners”. It’s up to the media to write or talk about it now. Talk too much and they will really stick it to us. Sankey won’t say anything. Starting next year, the B12 is a minor league. It’s beneath his purview. Any ref fuckery just affirms that.
  18. Right. We have more Tarrant County fans than they do. Why would we ever agree to play a game there where we were given 10% of the tickets? For old times’ sake? Kirk Bohls: both
  19. No. The TT series really doesn’t mean much to us. Neither does BU, or TCU. Or OSU. TT would like to extend the series. We see no good reason to do so. Do you?
  20. Why would we schedule them in Lubbock again? Honest question- what’s in it for us?
  21. Does Reliant not hold 100k? If not, it’s big enough to get us the number of seats we need. (AT&T may have to do SRO to get to100k). I can see us playing a road game at a smaller stadium, if it’s a destination type game- Colorado, PNW, etc. I can’t see us doing that in Texas.
  22. I think-maybe I’m wrong- that this Saturday will be the last time the Horns play a game in this state in a stadium that has a capacity less than 100k
  23. Kind of knew this was coming… https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/hamas-armed-wing-more-than-60-hostages-are-missing-due-israeli-airstrikes-2023-11-04/ A bunch of the hostages are dead. Hamas says it’s Israel’s fault. (Anyone else suspect that the 23 bodies they can’t return are missing heads?)
  24. Yes. And if we play them on Thanksgiving weekend next year, they will make a huge deal out of the 25th anniversary of the collapse.
  25. That is my understanding, too. How does that happen? My guess is that Fisher’s agent told the TAMU AD, “Look, you want to win, right? Jimbo knows how, but,…he may have to play on the edges of the rules, if he’s going to beat Bama. You know the SEC. Don’t put stuff in his contract that will keep him from competing “. Those idiots, still revering Sherrill for cheating his ass off while dominating a dying SWC, would go for that. As for the Kubiak talk- could they be thinking about one of his kids, that work for Kyle Shanahan?
