I doubt it. Pavia is going to be a challenge for the defense, and I believe they will gain a lot of yards on us but stall in or around the red zone more often than not. Our "bend but not break" defense will probably hold their scoring in check. I am expecting our offense to play markedly better at home, as Sark usually gets the team prepared for home games against good competition. I think we win a close one.
I thought the poster meant continuity at the top i.e., a long tenure for the HC. All the great coaches have revolving doors at the assistant coaches level but that doesn't affect their programs. Mack just got complacent just like Sark after his big contract. We can't seem to find the coaches who can stay hungry despite their huge contracts.
We gave Mack continuity and he turned this program into a dumpster fire, so continuity is probably not the answer. Sark tried to use the continuity argument to retain his underperfming staff and they are already turning some parts of the program into a shitshow. I am not sure what it is that makes it so difficult to maintain success at Texas like tOSU, Bama or UGA.
Arch can be a fast runner if he wants to. Since the OL is not maintaining a clean pocket, I feel like taking Arch out of the pocket and making the defense have to pick their poison between Arch, the runner, and Niblett just might work. I don't mean this as our go-to play but perhaps sprinkle it in from time to time when we need short yardage for a first down. We don't seem to have a short yardage 3rd down play in our playbook right now.
Maybe it's a discussion for another thread, do you know or think that the smaller SEC programs are matching the big dogs on revenue share? Like, miss state/ UK paying as much as Texas/UGA?
Isn't having a top 5 NIL budget same as cheating against the rest of the field? You're able to out talent most of your competition with that budget. Then we should expect the on-field performance better than 99.9% of the competition.
We are terrible at blocking as a team, not just OL, but the WRs and RBs and TEs too. That's why our screen passes, behind the line throws, or the end arounds never seem to work. Someone seems to be missing their blocking assignment on every play. There is no culture guy like Whittington on offense who sets the tone for others to follow. Culture carried us to the playoffs in the last two years, and I am afraid, the lack of it will keep us out this year.
I don't think we have had one of the best OL units in Texas history under Sark. Yes, the unit had some talent but they were stars even before they got here. My bad for not knowing that the pancake factory is not longer here.
We got manhandled on the offensive line by both Florida and Kentucky. They got tossed around like barbie dolls. The ROI on the pancake factory is negative so far.
These screenshots are hilarious. Here, you have 3 guys blocking one defender and 4 others blocking air while we have a free rusher about to hit the QB.
We have a pretty favorable remaining schedule except for the road game at UGA, which we are not going to win with or without Arch. We get Vandy and Aggy at home. Arch has played reasonably well at home to let him play the rest of the season and see where the chips fall. If he continues to suck, then we get a new QB in the offseason. If he turns it around, then we are set for another year at QB.
There is not a reasonable person saying Arch is playing well. Stop with that strawman. You have been going after Arch on every thread like you have an agenda or something. It's weird and I don't get it. Yes, he is struggling. He also needs a lot of help from his coach and his teammates who are not playing well either.
No, but he did mention that Stoops was a great coach and that he had a lot of respect for him. That right there should be sufficient grounds for firing for cause.
When the OL is not blocking anyone, your throws are rushed. Arch looked amazing with much better OL play last year and he sucked when the OL didn't hold against UGA. It's hard to draw a conclusion on how good or bad Arch will be in college when you have virtually no OL. These big humans are confused and letting a free rusher or two by on every down. Fix the OL first because no other QB is going to light it up with this OL.
For most walk-ons, being on the scholarship at Texas is the goal. Anything beyond is just gravy. Contrast that with a 5 star out of high school, who probably wants to play for a championship caliber program and play in the NFL.
