  1. You want us to get more of 2nd and 3rd team MVC players and guys with no accolades and expect us to be very competitive in a P5 conference? Pass me the kool-aid. On second thought, please don't.
  2. Who is this "uber-talented forward" they speak of? Surely they don't mean Mitchell!
  3. We need to find replacements for Disu and Abmas. We have got some pieces that may be upgrades over other role players but we don't have anyone yet who can replace those two key guys.
  4. Can we not play situational small ball? With every swing, we are trying to score a home run.
  5. This team looks like a train wreck.
  6. I don't know man, these janitors came all the way to California to meet me and couple other alumni. They also asked me to be on the board of the new incubator to foster entrepreneurship among UT engineers.
  7. I just had lunch with some folks from the UT administration yesterday. We briefly talked about UT athletics among other things (primarily helping the engineering department). They echoed what most of us already thought about RT. They said CDC had very little choice but to offer him the job but they didn't think he could be an elite coach.
  8. If the Mark Pope news is real, I guess they are going the same route as Duke and UNC by hiring a former player with some coaching experience. It's a bold strategy, cotton. Let's see if it works out for them.
  9. Why haven't they gone after Beard? Do they care about his baggage?
  10. We just need to be patient with RT. Rome wasn't built in a day. There are plenty of examples of hall of fame coaches who didn't exactly set the stage on fire in their first few years as head coaches. Dan Hurley was pedestrian in his first 4 years at UConn as others have pointed out. The screenshot below is the record of another HOF coach at a blueblood program. Guess who that is. Give RT 5 years to prove himself.
  11. Meanwhile Chris Beard is enjoying being single again.
  12. Not saying recruiting doesn't matter but that team is very well coached. They don't play hero ball like most college teams do.
  13. If we are being honest, our women's team was not in the same league either. I thought we lacked team speed and athleticism to make a deeper run.
  14. Both Clark and Edey are nightmares for the opposing teams. They do their damages in different ways but they both are freaks of nature imo.
  15. This matchup is very much like the men's finals matchup. South Carolina is like Uconn with a superior all around team. Iowa has a freak of nature in Clark just like Purdue's Edey.
  16. This is a very entertaining game. Both teams are very good.
  17. The SEC has more quality schools than the Big 12. With Texas, the conference will have at least four Tier 1 schools (if you include Aggy), which is not that bad.
  18. Taaffe is a future longhorn legend. Mark my words. He is a coach on the field now and he will very likely be a coach off the field when his playing days are over. He just has IT.
  19. You summed it up really well. I was upset because our program took a major setback when CB was let go, and I felt like RT won't be able to keep us in the same upward trajectory. Now we have posters telling us that we should just accept and be happy with what we've got given our history in this sports. The Baylor or Gonzaga examples tell us otherwise. This thread's title doesn't mean we just discuss firing RT here. It's a catchall thread to whine about our basketball coaching shortcomings. This is not the only thread of this kind where people whine about certain coaches.
