  1. The national championship site is in Omaha next year? How many times do these fuckers get to host the final 4? Am I mistaken because it feels like they've hosted a few times already in recent memory.
  2. Also, we're up to #8 in NET. I'm not surprised we are still ranked high in NET. Princeton and San Diego are better wins than people realize based on them being played on the road/neutral court.
  3. aggy's next 4 games include @ South Carolina (#1 NET), Auburn (#95 NET), Ole Miss (#38 NET), @ Missouri (#44 NET). That will be 0-4 in the SEC after the South Carolina game. They really need to win those next 3 games or they're in big trouble in terms of making the tournament. I'm not sure they can beat Ole Miss or Missouri right now.
  4. Loved Gabriel’s grit and she seems like a great teammate. But if she’s starting over SKT next season, JE isn’t serious about winning.
  5. It’s such a dumb narrative because it’s not unique to Beard at all. It happens all over the country. The same exact thing is happening with Schaefer right now and a highly ranked recruit not getting big minutes. When the 5 star FR get minutes next year they won’t go anywhere.
  6. The Big 12 is going to be a cakewalk next season. At least Baylor got their shit together for a couple seasons but there will be a huge drop off with both those players gone. I don't know what the solution is other than scheduling a tough non-conference schedule but that's normally early in the season.
  7. Are both Pressley and Skinner out of eligibility at Baylor?
  8. Definitely seems like Penn State settled after missing on a couple coaches. Thought they would be able to land a big name.
  9. Tyson isn't fat but I get why people think that from watching him play. He's extremely stiff and moves like he's out of shape. Maybe he's just limited athletically.
  10. I agree it seems unlikely but the roster is so loaded now that I wonder if it impacts the decision of somebody like Hord chasing a title. Also, Phillips would likely transfer if Texas adds Hord don't you think?
  11. Hord, Fleck, and Skinner would be unreal. Texas would have an All-American caliber player at almost every position. There would also be a ton of pressure to win it all next season but I guess that's no different than most years. But lord, that roster would really be a "super team" as some on volleytalk described it.
  12. Also of note, the Princeton win is going to be nice at the end of the year. Princeton could very well run the table in the Ivy and they're already #41 in NET. That's probably going to end up as a quad 1 win. Right now we are 4-1 in quad 1 (w vs aggy, w vs Princeton, w vs Stanford, w vs Oklahoma State, and L vs Tennessee). That's the beauty of playing true road games. Princeton, aggy, and Oklahoma State aren't spectacular but on the road those might still end up being quad 1 wins. There are also going to be a ton of opportunities for quad 1 wins this year in the Big 12. Way more than normal. Based on the current NET rankings, there are still 10 more quad 1 games in the Big 12.
  13. I'm not taking anyone for granted after Texas Tech but Kansas has only played two top 50 teams (per NET) and lost to both by double digits. They're 9-2 but they haven't really played anybody other than Tennessee and OU. Their best win is Vanderbilt who is #63 in NET and after that they don't have another top 100 win.
  14. I don't think people realize how good of an addition Gilbert was. She can really hit. The top of the order with Jefferson, Burke and Gilbert is going to be scary good.
  15. True and we just have to reset how we evaluate rosters these days. Players like Fields (volleyball), Tyson (men's basketball) and Hunter (women's basketball) are going to transfer. It's not really an indictment of the program it's just a reality of the transfer portal era. In the long-term, the transfer portal is going to help us more than it hurts us because we are one of the few schools that can hand pick who we want.
  16. Yup. I think Hunter needs more minutes but I get that Schaefer is trying to teach young players what it takes to win in his system. Either way, this is just the new reality of college sports and it's going to benefit Texas more than it hurts Texas IMO. The way Texas is adding transfers in volleyball, men's basketball, soccer, and women's basketball should already prove this. Texas is going to lose some quality players to the portal but they're going to add plenty of quality in return. I laughed at this comment on the volleyball forum. "Honestly I hate this whole concept of teams building super rosters. This is getting out of hand if they get Hord too (and no I’m not just saying this bc it’s texas)"
  17. Damn, Skinner has 3 years of eligibility left too?
  18. Larson would piss off so many Nebraska fans and that would be a good hire too. I'm not sure it addresses the passing issues though.
  19. I don't even get upset over FR transferring anymore. It's not unique to us and it's definitely going to happen here. Keep loading up on transfers and stack recruiting classes. If you can't handle roster turnover in the portal era you won't survive anywhere.
  20. It's just an unreal conference and I thought the Big 12 was actually going to be down this year. 12/18 games will be against Kenpom top 40 teams and 14/18 games will be against Kenpom top 45 teams. 7 games on the road against top 45 teams per Kenpom.
  21. I would bet she's upset with minutes much like Jaylon Tyson. This is the new reality of college sports. Highly ranked FR want immediate minutes and they will transfer if they don't get those minutes.
  22. Tyson wasn’t good in the minutes he got this year and the advanced stats definitely back that up. He was riding the bench for a reason. That’s not to say he can’t become a good player though. True FR often struggle.
  23. It will do better than just a bubble look. Several 8-10 Big 12 teams have made the tournament in the past. First ones that come to mind are Texas and OU in '17-18 and K-State in '16-17. There are more examples but I'm too lazy to go find them. People drastically undervalue how good the Big 12 is. 8-10 is just as likely to get you into the tournament as it is for you to miss the tournament.
  24. I posted in the women's basketball thread that this season would be much like Schaefer's year 1. Ups and downs but a good team by March. The idea is to win in March. Nobody remembers Schaefer going 11-7 in the Big 12 last season because he made an Elite 8.
