  1. Very meh is my conclusion. If they had to money whip Durkin they could have hired a much better DC IMO.
  2. One school I have no trust in when it comes to Covid is Baylor. Wanna bet they're above the 6 player threshold and simply don't want to play this game with a limited roster?
  3. Disu did this a couple times last night. Glad he's back. Texas had no rim protection at all without Disu.
  4. I posed this a few days back but it's fairly obvious Liucci doesn't think this is a great hire but aggys are too stupid to figure it out. Liucci is going to put his normal aggy spin on everything to placate his base but in Liucci terms he was telling them Durkin only has 1 good year as a DC and isn't a splash hire.
  5. Per T-Rank, Texas is top 60 in almost every offensive stat except 3P% and Block%. #32 in adjusted efficiency, #59 in EFG%, #56 in TO%, #36 in OR% (that's surprising), #35 in 2P%, #29 FT%, #63 assist rate. If Texas started hitting open 3s this offense is more than good enough combined with the defense.
  6. The thing Texas has going for them is NET, for whatever reason, is much higher on our SOS than other metrics. NET SOS #168 Kenpom SOS #340 T-Rank SOS #194 Texas is almost certainly going to finish top 25ish in SOS after the Big 12 schedule.
  7. Is somebody going to tell him about the offense?
  8. For sure. Texas would have still lost but I don't think there's any question Texas would have won against Seton Hall with Disu.
  9. Yeah, that's where I'm at. Kelly is a much better coach than this board gives credit for but these are some puzzling decisions. Throw in the fact that two morons, in Miles and Ed O, could win there it's kind of fascinating to see how this works out. The weird thing with Kelly so far is I don't get the vibe he's really committed to the bag game which seems like an odd fit at LSU. Maybe they are pivoting to NIL?
  10. T-Rank projects Texas to go 12-6 and historically based on resumes that's on average a 4.4 seed. I just wish Texas could replay this Seton Hall game with Disu (who has been our best player by about a mile) and we would be in spectacular position.
  11. Kelly is making some weird decisions with this LSU staff.
  12. The spin from Liucci is that Santucci has experience in the 4 man front so that would make it even funnier.
  13. It sucks but I think everyone will likely end up playing a game or two down multiple players. Texas played with 7 or maybe it was 8 (I cant remember) against OU last season.
  14. That will get all the attention (rightfully so) but just from a DC hire it really doesn't make much sense. 1) Durkin has operated primarily in a 3 man front and 2) His resume as a DC is remarkably thin. Here are Durkin's numbers as a DC where he was the one actually running the defense/calling plays. SP+ Defense: 36th, 80th, 10th FEI Defense: 28th, 118th, 19th Scoring Defense: 54th, 117th, 11th Total Defense: 100th, 129th, 4th Durkin has had 1 top 25 defense in his entire career dating all the way back to 2015 and the Michigan defense was already pretty good in 2014 prior to Durkin.
  15. There are actually some rational aggys on this hire.
  16. aggy could have done much better on this hire.
  17. Disu the last 5 games with him on the court: +21.4 +22.1 +20.3 +7.3 +11.3 What a stud.
  18. Yeah, Askew's offensive game is definitely limited. I won't argue that. I can see why Beard wanted him though. For a young player he does things that can help you win.
  19. The fact Liucci continues to insinuate that Bama is scared of aggy might be his funniest bit. He can't actually believe this can he? Saban is playing for his 7th title at Bama and Liucci thinks they're worried about a program with 1 ten win season in the last two 2 decades?
  20. Askew is not a scorer but I think he has a lot of value to this team. 1) He doesn't turn the ball over. Leads the team in turnover %. 2) He's a pretty good facilitator. 3rd on the team in assist%. Askew is the only pure PG on the team although his offensive game looks a bit ugly because he's never trying to score. I think Beard might have figured out the solution to Carr's struggles is to play him more off the ball with Askew which is what happened tonight. With guys like Carr, Jones, Ramey, Allen, Disu, Mitchell etc on the court you don't need Askew getting buckets. There are plenty of mouths to feed already and Askew's low usage rate is actually advantageous with those group of players.
  21. The aggy basketball schedule is just insanely awful. They play Arkansas on Saturday and that will be 15 games into the season where they haven't played a single Kenpom top 30 team and only 1 Kenpom top 50 team. That's insane for a P5 team and totally aggy the way they try to stack wins.
  22. Arkansas was #90 in NET before this game. That's a terrible loss at home. They probably aren't even a tournament team at this point. Kind of a huge game for them on Saturday @ aggy.
  23. This might be the ugliest 3 minutes in the history of basketball.
