  1. Unreal. Never a doubt.
  2. I think last night broke me fellas. I’ve mentally checked out and will just casually observe until the end. Tired of getting my soul crushed by pressly, hader and a bunch of .215 hitters who belong on a AAA squad. Godspeed. And Go Stros.
  3. In another shocking development it was determined that water is wet.
  4. No shit. She’s a combo of Karen carpenter and Dolly Parton. Yuck. Eat a cheeseburger lady.
  5. However, now might be the best time to allocate some money to bond funds as we most likely heading into a rate REDUCTION environment. Just bumped up my bond allocation from 10 to 20% last week. All in BND. Up 2% last week. For the most part , I abhor bond funds and get my fixed income from real estate syndications. But, in a declining rate world, there is money to be made in them. For the record , I’m retired (58) and currently have 60%equity, 20% bond, 15% real estate syndicates , 5% cash. I advise my sons 25, 20 and 17, to be 100% equities . VTI, VXUS and VGT because they are young and long term, equities are the place for most growth. Hook ‘em.
  6. Short term swings are unnerving to be sure. All I know is trying to time the market requires you to be right twice (when to sell and when to buy). I know I’m not that smart and most others aren’t either. I made my share of mistakes in my 20s and 30s but then FINALLY realized you ain’t gonna beat the market over a long period of time. Boring but ultimately pays off. #retired@55
  7. Oh no. We are all the way back on the S&P to where it was in mid June! We are all gonna die. S&P only up 12% for the year now. Just horrible. Markets don’t go straight up ladies. Long and strong for decades . Namaste.
  8. Altuve is the least of this team’s issues. But his baserunning does still make me want to punch someone.
  9. That’s great. Congrats. Retired 2 years ago and wife joining me in that in 6 months. Last kid is a senior in high school this year. Plan on selling house and renting for 12-18 months while we long travel (3-4 weeks at a time) to scope out potential next destinations. North Carolina, Tennessee and Colorado are the leading contenders. You should visit the “ where should I retire” thread. Good stuff in there. Good luck!
  10. September is a fucking given to be miserable. It’s the swamp ass on Halloween when it really pisses me off.
  11. No shit . Driving me nuts. And get off my lawn!
  12. Perfect. Yes , we will be in/near laguna/newport/dana point etc most of the time . Cliffs is on the list. Really appreciate it .
  13. Appreciate it. Not going there to exclusively scope talent but it’s always nice to see the local scenery . Gotta think it’s plentiful there. Thanks again. If you think of some other restaurants or specific things to do, please advise. Any knowledge of places in Aliso Viejo?
  14. Thanks. Will look forward to it. He’s actually moving to Aliso Viejo a little inland . Yeah, definitely DO NOT want touristy restaurants. Always prefer where the locals hang out. He single again at 55 And ready to mingle. I’m married but always make a good wing man so any place where the local lovelies hang out would also be good. Thanks in advance.
  15. Headed there for 5 days late August . Brother is moving there and helping him get settled a bit. Any recs on dining and other things to do would be appreciated. I’m not a lay on the beach guy anymore but if I was to do it for a day, is that a good one or another better close by?
  16. Highland park if her sugar daddy is big-time.
  17. We did a cruise with them in their “haven” suites. Stayed away from the masses on a private floor and the food was great. One and done for me though. Except for an Alaskan cruise.

    Getting old sucks

Thanks for ruining my night. Asshole.
  19. No shit. These late games suck for my old guy sleep schedule. Let’s get it done tonight.
  20. I heard today from supposedly a connected source that it’s gonna be sept 1 and he actually broke a bone. No clue if true. I’ll take my 9.95.
  21. Married a long time eh?
  22. Good advice but he really doesn’t have any real target companies yet. Good news today as final junior rankings came out and he is top 1% now. We shall see. Ready for it to be over. Last one of 3 kids to do this! He will land at a place that is good for him regardless.
  23. Yeah. He just really loves Boulder campus. Skiing etc. know he can probably get into a “better” program but that’s his thought. UW also in the mix at #3. He’s also been to that campus and obviously loved it. Haven’t had wisky or Illinois on the radar. Maybe he should. No interest in Georgia tech. His older brother got accepted there but chose the 40 acres. We are assuming Auburn is a slam dunk for the ultimate safety school. Have a buddy who’s kid went there for aerospace and he landed at NASA. Hook em.
