  1. Lol so is he walking on like Michael Williams? What a slimeball coach/program/state.
  2. LSU obviously has a ton of pull in LA, but they also haven't experienced a real down period in 20+ years. It's a lot easier to have loyalty when you're putting guys in the league and competing for championships. It wasn't that long ago that Mack had TX locked down. A few down years can drastically change the perception of a program.
  3. I don't see Campbell taking that job. Imagine ISU with a bigger stadium and a fanbase that expected to compete for NC's; that's basically Nebraska at this point. The disparity between expectations and the reality of their situation is probably wider than any other program. In that sense, it's arguably the toughest job in the country.
  4. Yeah, because no one ever payed players in the history of CFB until Nick Saban came along. Have you seen Ohio State's recruiting rankings? They're right up there with Bama, yet he's won 6 in the last 11 years to their 1.
  5. He's changed, but not necessarily for the better: As Barkley would say, dude needs to "come home."
  6. Yep. It's pretty obvious that he's CDC's mouthpiece.
  7. You know it is possible to not want Sam back for a 5th season while also appreciating what he's done here. But he's had 4 cracks at winning the conference. Time to move on.
  8. Pretty much this. After nearly a decade of Herp, Swoopes, etc., Sam seemed like a transcendent QB. In reality, he's a solid college QB with some major limitations. Love his toughness, but he has an obvious ceiling as a thrower (and runner). If he comes back, I have no doubt Mensa will hand him the starting job, Casey will transfer, and our QB room will once again be fucked. I appreciate him putting his body on the line for our entertainment, but it's time.
  9. Really hard to predict how a Boise coach will do elsewhere. He won a lot of games there, but so did Dan Hawkins. And as good as they've been, they've clearly declined since Peterson's tenure. The chances of us hiring him were slim to none to begin with, but I'm glad he's off the board tbh.
  10. Fuck it, keep Ash then. But I don't remember Muschamp leaving on bad terms. We gave him the HCIW title, which was fucking stupid, but probably helped him land the Florida job.
  11. Agree. Campbell has shown he can evaluate and develop lunch pale types. He's also had some wtf losses/near losses, and tends to play up/down to the competition. Sound familiar? He'd probably get us an extra win each year just by avoiding bonehead 4th down decisions, but I don't think he's that much of an upgrade. I'm at the point where if we can't get Urban, just give Jeff Traylor an Orgeron contract and money whip Chad Morris and Muschamp. I feel like that has a higher ceiling than any of our other options.
  12. Further proof that bowl games are meaningless
  13. Shouldn't even accept the trophy if that happens (it won't though).
  14. We beat USF and KU, but probably split LSU and the bowl game. You can't just pencil in wins for a Herman-coached team. So we likely finish 9-4. Still not good enough with the experience we had on the roster and the conference being down. This was the year to make a run--Tom Herman himself said as much.
  15. Which is exactly what we wouldn't be doing with Traylor. I don't know if he's the best guy out there, but I'm willing to try something outside the box at this point, rather than just hiring the flavor of the month again and hoping this time is different.
  16. Yeah we need to just hire the hottest name. Who cares if they're not a good fit, have no ties to Texas, or have a shit personality... just hire the hottest name--it never fails us. Oh and they need several years of HC experience... fuck what Clemson, tOSU, and OU say. #WeAreTexas Btw, I doubt we'll give him a serious look, so you don't have much to worry about. We'll get Matt Campbell or Luke Fickell and ride off into the sunset.
  17. Traylor was Strong's recruiting ace. Overall, I think our current staff is pretty solid, especially on defense. He could make a couple tweaks (jettison Hand, bring back Samples and another rainmaker or two), and it would be an instant upgrade. But I don't think the UT admin would ever buy off on it.
  18. Today's recruits weren't alive the last time Nebraska was relevant. They're like Texas, minus the recruiting hotbed. Yet they still have the same expectations. I'll admit it's a step up from ISU, but it's not an attractive job.
  19. His chances of winning an NC at Nebraska are no better than at ISU (around 0.0001%). Money would be the only reason to move.
  20. I could see Traylor coming in and leaving much of the staff intact (besides hiring Samples, switching out Hand with literally anyone, and maybe bringing in a couple other rainmakers), fixing recruiting, and going on a tear. But instead we'll probably hire a bad fit like Matt Campbell, start all over from square one, and find ourselves in the same position 4 years from now.
  21. We lost to TCU, OU, and should've lost to Tech before there were any "horrible leaks" regarding Meyer. What are you talking about?
