  1. That team had a receiving corps of LJH, Collin Johnson, and Devin Duvernay as the third option.
  2. Fair points, I just don't feel that much vitriol. Most coaches are assholes, and pretty much all of them get defensive when criticized. The first part of your post is all I really care about. I do think the culture has improved since we don't get blown out like we did under Charlie/late Mack, but the overall product on the field has obviously been a disappointment.
  3. Agreed. The personal attacks towards Herman look like nothing more than emotional outbursts from an angry mob. And I too am all for bringing in Urban.
  4. None of that shit would matter if we were winning. Most people here loved the Mizzou thing at the time because we were kicking their ass.
  5. Nothing. First it was all Texas/the Big 12's fault. Now it's all the B1G's fault. Bitching and whining is all they can do to avoid facing the reality that everyone (including them) plainly sees: they'll never be back.
  6. Is there a more lopsided "rivalry" in all of CFB?
  7. Holy shit Ohio State owns our ass. We're scrapping with Baylor, TCU, and Tech for sloppy seconds in our own fucking state. Inexcusable.
  8. I'm willing to bet recruits place more importance on winning championships and going to the NFL than what some random alumni (i.e. you) tell them. We all know your stance--you enjoy the smell of your own farts more than winning. That's all you have to say. But to imply that hiring UM will somehow hurt the football program just makes you look like a complete fucking idiot.
  9. Yeah, just look at Ohio State. Their reputation is forever ruined. Now they just cherry-pick recruits from Texas and make the playoffs every year. The horror!
  10. Urban Meyer is not Tom Herman. He actually wins. A lot. Everywhere he goes, in fact. But you already knew that... I think. Anyway, will you leave the board and never return after we hire Urban?
  11. The CFB landscape is ever changing. No one would've predicted Clemson would be a powerhouse 10 years ago. Historically, they were basically an Arkansas level program, so a lot can change. If the population continues to shift south and west, a team like Arizona State (just throwing them out there as an example) could become a contender. Oregon already is one. And as much as we hate to say it, aggie has the resources (which has always been the case, and they've always managed to aggie it up). Michigan and Penn State are both within proximity of several major (but shrinking) population centers, and they have big followings on the east coast. They still have a chance, but it's a more difficult path. I will agree that Nebraska is done; no one outside of flyover country gives a fuck about them.
  12. I think if you let him lock himself in a dark room and just focus on X's and O's he could still be a great OC. It's hard to fathom that he's forgotten everything he ever knew about football. And it seems like the type of hire Saban would make.
  13. Cristobal is the closest thing. He was Bama's recruiting coordinator from 2013-2016, so he fully understands the ins and outs of "the game." He was also a great OL coach, so he knows how to evaluate and develop that position, which is arguably the biggest key to success in CFB. The problem is he's only had 2 good seasons (will probably be 3 after this year), and he may not even want to leave Oregon with the way he's recruiting.
  14. Well they are like the 12th best program in the SEC, which equates to about 4th best in the country.
  15. Michigan's in-state talent isn't great, but they at least have some, unlike Nebraska. They also have better access to Ohio, PA, and the east coast. The only population center in the vicinity of Nebraska is Kansas City with just over 2 million, roughly the size of San Antonio. Michigan obviously has elite academics, which most 5 stars don't really care about, but there is a subset of recruits who take it into account. I don't think either job is great, but Michigan actually has some things to work with. Nebraska has nothing besides history, which is probably the least important to 17 year-olds.
  16. I hate to say it, but if we can't get Urban Meyer, then we need to be really careful. There is no point in replacing Tom Herman with another Tom Herman or a Charlie Strong. In my thinking, there is only one man on the list, and his name is Urban Meyer. The truth is there are only a handful of elite coaches in the country. Cristobal appears to have Oregon back on track and recruits like a motherfucker, but I'd like to see him do it for another year or two. Matt Campbell has produced roughly the same results as Herman with far less resources, but he's never proven he can be elite (and probably never will at ISU). Franklin and Fleck are not worth making a change for. I can't see us going the G5 route again with Fickell. I think it's Herman or Urban next season.
  17. I've wanted Cristobal (after Urban) from the beginning. But would he even come here with the re$ources he has at Oregon?
  18. We still looked like shit for the most part. OL still sucks, receivers still suck, corners still suck. Had OSU taken care of the ball they would've beaten us by 3 scores. We may win this shitty conference after all (probably not though), but we'll never be elite under Herman. 4 years in and we don't look any better than we did in 2017.
  19. Yeah, a 4 year starter isn't enough to beat the likes of Max Duggan and Spencer Rattler; only the best QB in the country could pull that off.
  20. There is no other option. The program is teetering right now. If we miss on this hire, we're fucked for another decade. Possibly for good.
