  1. I finally found the answer I was looking for. Someone not only did what I have been asking about, they wrote a book on it. The short answer to my question is "just swap out the LM7 cam with a stock LS6 cam and voila!" The money quote is: "The 5.3-liter Gen III Vortec V-8 is probably the most common Gen III engine sold by GM (having been built in a 2:1 ratio to any other Gen III V-8), we have provided a full host of dyno tests adding various components to the base engine. You’ll probably notice there is not a dyno test with LS6 heads bolted to the base 5.3-liter engine. Well, this test was run, but since the engine lost power, it wasn’t included in the rundown. The reason the engine lost power can probably be traced to the change in compression ratio, as the 5.3-liter heads have 61.1-cc combustion chambers and the LS6 heads have 64-cc chambers. While this might not seem like a lot, it’s enough to eliminate the potential power increase from the larger ports and improved flow of the LS6 heads. Milling the deck surface on the heads, or using the milled GMPP CNC-ported LS6 heads, would probably show a gain, but due to time constraints, that test was not run. Just looking at how well the LS6 cam did in the 5.3- and 6.0-liter should be enough for most enthusiasts. On both engines, while peak power was slightly raised in the powerband, each engine made about 40 more horsepower just by swapping in the Z06 cam! Add in a few aftermarket components if you wish and the power can be raised another 10 to 20 hp. Not bad for a day’s work." The web page they wrote about using the LS6 components in a LM7 5.3 can be found here: https://www.lsenginediy.com/gen-iii-3-ls-vortec-truck-engine-buildup-guide/ I'm going to stick with the 4L60 trans (upgrades to a 6-speed are doable, but not worth it to me). Next time I get ready to do some maintenance on the truck, I will splurge for a set of 1.75" shorty headers. When I rebuild the LM7 engine, I will just swap out the cam and be done with it. Cheap and easy HP with a stock GM part that I will probably find as a leftover from someone who upgraded their LS6. Once the emissions requirement goes away in a couple of years, I will clean up the exhaust downstream from the headers.
  2. Today's "dumbfuck aggy" moment is about sacred grass. An aggy was visiting Arlington National Cemetery and afterward posted the following: "I know the section and grave number and in 2017 was even at the section he was buried in, but was very apprehensive about walking around on the grass to find the particular grave. I didn't see anyone else doing it and couldn't find anyone to ask so I decided that discretion was the best policy." https://texags.com/forums/49/topics/3138950/replies/57424652 aggys have no clue that at actual historical sites (Normandy, Gettysburg, Arlington, etc) there is no concept of "sacred grass." Intelligent, educated, serious people do not designate random plots of grass where nothing happened as "sacred" and then enforce "sacred recognition" as dogma, often in extremely offensive and inappropriate ways. Yes, you pimple-faced racists, you can actually walk on the grass when visiting places of actual historical significance. In fact, you can even wear a hat. Wake the fuck up and start realizing the "education" you received at Texas A&M was mostly garbage. Just another example of how the people of Texas deserve better than Texas A&M.
  3. In typical aggy fashion, this fine, "educated" follower of "Saint Sul Ross" seems oblivious to the fact that whites (ie: aggy) might also benefit from programs designed to help Blacks. We'll start with the easy questions: Q: If A&M is a branch of UT that receives a "fair share" of the UT endowment ($13B), why doesn't Prairie View (a branch of A&M) share at all in TAMU endowment? A: Systemic aggy racism Q: If the Morrill Act mandated Texas A&M be a "military academy," why isn't Prairie View also operated as a "military academy"? A: Systemic aggy racism But if it helps them sleep at night to tell themselves there is no systemic aggy racism, then a racist has to do what a racist has to do. The people of texas deserve better than texas A&M.
  4. As a gift for all those aggy who insist their school was founded as a "military academy" here is a quick snip from the school's 1900 report to the legislature. Texas A&M was founded as a reform school for incorrigible farm boys as young as 13 whose parents wanted to be rid of them. It wasn't until 1904, when A&M finally raised its admissions age to 18, thatA&M began to leave its reform school foundations behind and focused on education instead of babbysitting. The aggy corps was founded to provide the discipline necessary to keep those students in line. Neither the A&M College of their "corps of cadets" had anything to do with teaching military science to aspiring officers. (a second snip from the 1880 report setting forth the nature of the "military training" at the school is also included below. In 1862, when the Morrill Act was passed, the U.S. Congress did not start a program to establish military academies or teach military science to undisciplined boys in states currently in rebellion against the nation. Not did Congress seek to enter post-Reconstruction by hiring former Confederate officers and politicians to teach military science in states that had just come out of military occupation by U.S. troops, all financed by Congress. How clueless does one have to be to believe otherwise? The people of Texas deserve better than Texas A&M Source:https://archive.org/details/annualreportofag1900agri/page/n7/mode/2up
  5. aggy has had a long history of students at the institution banding together to protest various aspects of life at the school. The more famous ones were in 1908 and 1947. The details of the 1908 "rebellion" can be found here: https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=loc.ark:/13960/t1hh75d2z&view=2up&seq=8 Student protests against the school administration at A&M pre-dates any "tradition" of protests and student activism on the UT campus. The problem isn't that students are protesting on the A&M campus. The problem is that Black students are protesting on the A&M campus. Michael Young not only just got fired by John Sharp, he got publicly humiliated by John Sharp. This, when after the Murano/ Loftin idiocy A&M struggled to find any qualified candidate to take that role (knowing they would be micromanaged by John Sharp). aggy is a backwater school in a town with ZERO media presence. Their "go to" deflection is "We're just like UT Austin!" Look back to 1999 when there were dead bodies littering the aggy campus and count the number of aggy dumbfuck administrators who have ever been held accountable for bad decisions at A&M. Michael Young was fired as school president for not using all possible force when dealing with Black protestors on the A&M campus, and for allowing the thought of a Matthew Gaines statue on John Sharp's beloved "home of the gallant negro killer." And you think (after Sherrill, Franchione, and Sumlin) people are going to ask "WTF?" about what they paid Jimbo Fisher!?
  6. From the comments on the "Tim England" tweet Remember, folks...these are "the finest fans in all of college sports®."
  7. Your expectations should factor in their track record in hypersonic research. Look back over the past 11 years and count the advancements in hypersonic weapons by the National Center for Hypersonic Laminar-Turbulent Transition.
  8. Because, as we all well know, giving money to aggys always is a smart move. The people of Texas deserve better than Texas A&M.
  9. Here is the info I was working from (TAMU System budget report cited above):
  10. Yep. Now go back and look at the aggy press release. They compare their system numbers with individual universities. https://today.tamu.edu/2020/02/03/texas-am-fy19-research-expenditures-top-952-million/ In their press release, they mention JH, UM, and UCSF because those three schools are at the top of the NSF rankings. https://ncsesdata.nsf.gov/herd/2018/html/herd18-dt-tab020.html The aggy system didn't come in 4th behind JH, UM and UCSF. The entire aggy system, when compared to individual campuses around the nation, came in 20th. The people of Texas deserve better than Texas A&M. Quote from aggy press release: "Johns Hopkins University led the latest survey with $2.7 billion in expenditures, followed by the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with $1.6 billion and the University of California, San Francisco, with $1.6 billion. Among other Texas-based universities ranked in the top 50, the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center ranked 19th on the latest survey with $930 million; the University of Texas at Austin, 36th with $680 million; and the Baylor College of Medicine, 40th with $623 million." https://today.tamu.edu/2020/02/03/texas-am-fy19-research-expenditures-top-952-million/"
  11. The numbers are in thousands. And not only no students, but no professors, possibly not even any PhDs. Conducted outside College Station by a separate legal entity from Texas A&M College Station. But they claim they are "the leading research institution in Texas." Over Rice, Texas, M.D. Anderson, UT Southwestern, UT Health-Houston. Based on the NSF rankings, had A&M accurately reported the research attributable to their College Station campus (as they represent to have) they would have barely come in at 100th in the nation. https://ncsesdata.nsf.gov/herd/2018/html/herd18-dt-tab020.html The people of Texas deserve better than Texas A&M.
  12. Here is the breakdown for FY 2019, as per their internal documents. From these numbers, they reported $855,506, all attributed to TAMU, College Station campus. Source:(https://www.tamus.edu/business/budgets-and-accounting/budgets/system-executive-budget-summary/) [NOTE: numbers are in thousands] Texas A&M University, College Station - $237,516 TAMUI - $4,839 PV - $18,834 Tarleton, $11,339 Galveston - $8,212 Health Science Center - $73,933 Cen Tex - $815 Commerce - $2,762 Corpus - $28,567 Kingsville - $18,706 San Antonio - $314 Texarkana - $6 West Texas A&M - $4.703 Agrilife - $199,051 Agrilife Extension - $1,378 Forest Service - $2,437 Vet Med Diagnostic Lab - $324 Engineering Experimentation Service - $158,434 TX Transportation Institute - $76,476 System Offices - $6,853
  13. Today's "dumbfuck aggy fake history" moment is about Texas A&M's claim to "the largest research expenditures of any university in Texas." In the quote box is a story put out by aggy touting A&M's research expenditures, as compared to UT Austin (of course), Univ of Mich (Ann Arbor), UCSF, and a few others. Of course, the end result the aggy press release is "advantage aggy." Below the quote box is information taken from the annual budget reports produced by the TAMU System. The three snips show the budget breakdown for the TAMU System for the academic components of the System and for the non-academic state agencies that are administered by the TAMU System (state forest service, etc). The next to last line on each snip is the total for research for the aggy System, for the System academic components, and for the state agencies. Now for the aggy dumbfuckery. When aggy releases their research expenditures, they give the number for the entire system (including the state agencies they administer), not just for their flagship campus. This, even though for every "peer" institution aggy compares themselves to, aggy uses the individual flagship campus research number, not the number for the combined schools within those systems. Look in the quote box and notice the individual flagship numbers for the other schools as offered by aggy. Then look at the aggy System numbers. Apples (aggy system numbers combined with state agencies) vs oranges (individual flagship campus academic research numbers). Also note that each and every year, state agency research expenditures are greater than TAMU System academic research expenditures. (In other words aggy academic research is actually less than half the number they report.) The expenditures (as per the NSF) for all schools in the US be found here (pdf): https://ncsesdata.nsf.gov/herd/2018/html/herd18-dt-tab020.html If you note on the NSF report, the numbers reported for "Texas A&M Univ, College Station and Health Science Center" are actually for the entire TAMU System plus the state agencies, not just of the College System campus, as represented.
  14. At 71,000+ students (thank you 2.5 gpa transfer from community college), Texas A&M has finally obtained their cherished goal of surpassing Houston Community College as the largest post-secondary educational institution in Texas. Here’s to you, Texas A&M, you rote learning, redneck trade school idiots. Congratulations. https://theeagle.com/news/a_m/texas-a-m-university-enrollment-grows-despite-pandemic/article_d6f335fa-f9ba-11ea-9e8a-9f1692f2cf75.html#tracking-source=home-breaking In news that should surprise no one, Blinn and Texas A&M have taken another step forward in their "co-equal" trade school arrangement, were every A&M class is as if you are in junior college and every Blinn kid gets a shiny diploma from Texas A&M. Expect to see "Texas A&M-Blinn College" on a very frequent basis moving forward.

  16. Just hilarious. "This is not a semester where we can create leaders, but one where the whole corps culture can be changed and softened like never before seen to a point where many would just call us a frat in uniform with no real purpose or tradition." "in this environment, all we are doing is dressing up in uniform and preparing for football games."
  17. This is hilarious: "No more training inside the dorms of any kind, no more pushing, posting up in the hallway, corrections, or pre-formation activities such as a fallout hole. This does not create an environment of adversity and challenge for cadets which gives the freshman a false sense of what the corps really is, allowing those who would have otherwise left after they realized it was not for them to stay and believe this is how it will always be. Physical training was restricted as well with the most notable and controversial change being that no one is allowed to run. Yes, you read that correctly, we as a military and leadership institution are not allowed to run. Almost no one received a reason and the only one most cadets heard was related to "shin splints". PT is now only allowed 3 times a week meaning Mondays and Fridays there is no more PT. We are forced to attend formations with no real training involved pre-formation then we return to our dorms since now we are not required to attend Duncan dining hall for any meal, which honestly is better than the long lines and waiting time we had to go through to collect plates to take back to our dorms in the first couple of weeks of class, some of which included maggots in the food which cadets were told not to talk about. The constant changes to training, regulations, and rules keep all the cadet leadership wondering what will be restricted next in a haze of last-minute changes. At this point, most cadets do not understand why we are even open since nothing related to developing our minds, bodies, and leadership is really allowed or efficient in any way. Complete outfits have been sent home because of COVID cases and others have been left without most leadership present because of quarantine and COVID self-isolation. It has come to a point where some cadets are being disciplined for having to quarantine which is just outrageous." https://texags.com/forums/63/topics/3137534/replies/57376559
  18. The ags seem to have knowingly lied about the history of Sul Ross and the "Ross Volunteers" because to tell the truth would have been to expose the extent to which "the supremacy of the white man" defines the culture of Texas A&M and its alumni. In reality, the group was named after "the gallant negro killer" in 1891, as "high appreciation, regard, and respect" of Ross' actions "establishing the supremacy of the white man." After Ross death (when the ags claim the group's name was changed to "Ross Volunteers") the name was changed from "Ross Volunteers" to bear the name of the then-sitting president of the school. The name would be changed to reflect the name of each school president until 1905, when it was changed to "Ross Volunteers" after not "the gallant negro killer," but his daughter Bessie, the same individual who wrote the biography of Sul Ross where it was explained for posterity that Sul Ross' prime motivation in life was to "establish the supremacy of the white man." "The Ross Volunteers, Again," Bryan Daily Eagle, 24 October 1905, page 2. So, let's start a list of all the aggy fairy tales those dumbfucks think to be true : Their status as a branch college of UT Their establishment as a military college Ross Volunteers Bonfire (not) naming Bevo 12th Man National sports championship(s) Theft of military property to commit mass murder against civilians (Waco 1926) "Wealthiest public university in the universe"
  19. Today's "dumbfuck aggy fake history" moment is about the Ross Volunteers, a small subgroup of the aggy fraternity that runs around in costumes on campus and insists they aren't just toy soldiers. On their websites, aggys insist "In 1898, the unit was renamed in honor of Lawrence Sullivan Ross, former governor of the state of Texas and President of the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas." https://www.tamu.edu/traditions/the-corps/special-units/index.html A snapshot from that school website is posted below. As is a snapshot of page 65 of the 1895 aggy yearbook. Where it explains the "prestigious" group was named after Ross in 1891, at least seven years before it was supposedly named "Ross Volunteers"in 1898. https://bookreader.library.tamu.edu/book.php?id=yb1895&getbook=Go#page/n69/mode/1up Yet again, the aggys don't have a fucking clue about their traditions, their school history, or why they undertake some of the bizarre shit done by aggys. All they knew is they were told to accept what we all know to be complete bullshit. Those dumb fuckers pledge lifelong allegiance to a set of farcical heroics someone just made up and then started spewing in "Fish Camp." In 150 years, not a single aggy has ever cared enough to actually document the history of their school. Just lies, bullshit, and fairy tales. All wrapped up and sold under the guise of "educating" rednecks. The school has over 500,000 students and alumni, and not one of them has been bright enough to figure out much of what they are being taught (both inside and outside the classroom) simply isn't true. Yet they are given college diplomas to hang on their walls. The people of Texas deserve better than Texas A&M. [Note in the 1895 version, they refer to "the gallant negro killer" as "General Ross," not "Governor Ross," or "President Ross." The aggy administrators have dishonestly morphed what was a gesture of "high appreciation, regard, and respect" in 1891 to a farcical posthumous gesture "based upon his contributions to the school." It was clear then, as it is not to non-aggys, today that Ross' most salient contribution to the culture of Texas A&M was his lifelong commitment "to establish the supremacy of the white man." The truth is the "Ross Volunteers" were re-named after "General Ross" soon after Ross was elevated to school president (not upon his death) and was a reflection of "high appreciation, regard, and respect" based upon Ross' contributions toward establishing the supremacy of the white man and committing treason against the Unites States. The reason John Sharp and the TAMU administrators can't be honest about the school's true history is that the racist element of aggy culture runs too deep, as demonstrated (yet again) here.]
  20. Oh, hell. This looks like fun. I find it comical that the rednecks bleat about the “importance of conservative values” on a site whose entire existence is owed to a left-wing, socialist government scheme to bailout failed businesses. Texags’ bailout was between $350k and $1mil. About 20 employees.
  21. “Bailout Billy” knows all about needing to be propped up by others.
  22. In all honesty, their past wasn’t kind to Texas A&M, its alumni, or supporters. They have collectively been a running joke to the people of Texas since the days of Jefferson Davis.
  23. Obviously, the players weren’t all that big on doing it. Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see much of an effort on the part of the players to continue the tradition.
