  1. For those into drought discussion (which I am, oh I guess a little bit, maybe), pretty good articles in lake Travis/Westlake Community Impact this week. I think well worth the read. https://communityimpact.com/austin/lake-travis-westlake/environment/2022/04/14/climatologist-says-future-megadrought-could-harm-lake-travis-area/ I'd have a lot more to say on the upcoming summer but I'll skip it - for now.
  2. From that crucial staple of important news, the Sun... too ripe for easy jokes, so I'll just get to the point (pun intended, check out the chart): American men’s penises are only the 59th biggest in the world, study finds – beaten by Haitians, Australians & French Chris Bradford David Jarvis 4:49 ET, Apr 18 2022 Updated: 12:38 ET, Apr 18 2022 AMERICAN men’s penises are only the 59th biggest in the world, a study reveals The average length of 5.35 inches is shorter than their Haitian, French, and Aussie counterparts" American men have shorter penises than their French and Australian counterparts, a survey reveals But the US ranks above the UK, according to the poll The poll, of 86 nations, revealed that French men’s genitals are 6.20 inches in length, while Australia ranks 43rd at 5.6 Men in Haiti have an average penis size of 6.30 inches when erect, according to the data.' Ecuadorian men apparently have the biggest penises, at an average of 6.93 inches, while the smallest can be found in Cambodia at just 3.95 inches long when erect. 3. Yeah, he traded in about 3-4 great years pre-Perkins years (# of years (we think) he was fucking around on wifey) for 12 (relatively) bad post-skank"coulda-shoulda been" ones, with one major win and cutting off his exceptional play. Only the recent car market has seen worse tradeoffs. No way, no how, was it worth it. Sounds like the skanks got the better end of that deal.
  4. I hear you. A Tele is of course unique and historically a cultural icon. And it got hella popular in the 50's as "country dudes" found you could play Old Style but then this Great New Rock And Roll stuff. That said, it looks like it was done by a designer who had to satisfy both his buddies and his wife (and mother-in-law) and it sort of meanders to wherever. Mostly it just seems kinda small for me (6'3"). To some degree the knob bar just seems to be hammered on as an afterthought... just kinda plunks straight down, more or less disregarding the shape or any relationship to it. But of course time heals all wounds and now it's such a standard that it defines guitars, esp. electrics, which Fender wanted to look as "un"-like the archtops and acoustics of the time. I have a Strat (because I love the less bulky neck and the particular bright sound that so much defines it) and the Gretsch I just bought (because it's big and pretty and man kicks ass on thick-but-not-muddy power chords!). That said, no one here sanely would ever try to argue the Tele soundwise is lacking to anything like it, nor that the GOAT's don't play a lot of stuff on them - nor that it might be the most diverse solid body ever. I'd probably never opt for one but not wanting one personally doesn't equal appreciating it. Oh, anyone interested, really nice '54 original Tele for (well, relatively) cheap on Reverb. Seems like a great price (well that shipping is OUTRAGEOUS!):
  5. Wisely, you cite. A new Surly motto, my candidate for. This secret, guard well, and far you shall go.
  6. Semantics and Wordles bullshit notwithstanding, "person of interest" has now changed to "suspect." Oh, that and the sun rose in the east this a.m. https://abc7ny.com/brooklyn-subway-shooting-frank-james-sunset-park-new-york/11743662/ On Wednesday morning, Mayor Eric Adams said James was no longer just a person of interest and would be considered the suspect and a wanted fugitive going forward.
  7. That is indeed a sweet guitar, but I think Ruby's '61 lefthanded Tele is one up.
  8. Like near zero. Partly, and partly because there's nothing to trigger lift/storms.
  9. Back from dinner. It was good. Cap (go ahead, say forcefield if it makes you happy) held over us. Just apparently not enough lift. Once again SPC/NWS nailed this forecast. Bravo. I think the tornado in N. Wille pooped out due to daylight waning, among other things. Good. Surprised to see a tornado watch still in effect (until 11), possibly the ability for a little disturbance to kick up, but to my eyes it should be over for today. I'll check back to see if any radar pops up, doubt it.
  10. Yes. I'm leaving to meet/eat near Barton Springs with my daughter who's on the way from Dallas back to San Antonio. Yer on yer own. Zero hour is now → 7 p.m. or so. So far the cap is holding around us (ATX), but could bust open. Storms could form very quickly on top of us. Good luck, we're all counting on you.
  11. Well, THIS is so Austin, lol... ... but I'm gaining confidence that the donut hole will fill in soon.
  12. Big storm just popping up N. of SAT... that's where the (largely imaginary for now) line is going to form up NE and if possible on us. Next hour will tell. Stuff getting nasty up 35 right now.
  13. I thought Blacklab was a hot blond cheerleader from Kentucky or somewhere. (Smuggs beat me to the Ross ID by a minute or two).
  14. NWS has upped the chances for storms in ATX a bit, threw in a slightly higher chance of tornadoes, but mostly east/northeast of ATX. Large damaging storms can still be expected here/there Williamson Co. and north into and past Dallas. Been watching the line, southern end is popcorning up/down, but I expect more development as the dry line is moving into more favorable conditions, and the cap is holding although not strongly. If those storms start growing on the south end, I'll be back. I'd say main diff. from this a.m. is storms more likely thru Austin, but even with more severity possible, still scattered in our area. Still up the 35 corridor is the bullseye.
  15. Jeff Ross. Big on celebrity roasts. Not dead. Yet. Wait until tonight. Reminder: Don't go to that restaurant and pose for pix with anyone. RIP GG.
  16. They're lowering tornado chances in this round because in all likelihood it'd be a fast-moving and thing squall line. Hail and wind are the main components of this prediction. The cap is strong over this area, and yesterday it held, which is why storms didn't flare up, not a lot of lift. Today the cap is still strong, but a little distrubance is going to move up along the dry line and if it's strong enough, will provide the lift to break the cap. If it does, storms will fire up quickly. If current cloud cover holds longer through the day, it'll help, but that's not a guarantee. My guess again is that most of the severe weather will be Belton and up into Oklahoma. With that statement, I just put Austin in the bullseye, but I'm stickin' to my story. Little if any rain/storms for us. Whatever happens will happen mid afternoon into about 6-7 p.m.
  17. Likelihood of severity and POP are not co-related. Not unusual.
  18. Very doubtful N. Austin and south. Better possibilities N into Dallas and up. But yeah, I'll let you know. Depends on whether the cap holds, although Austin is maybe too far south for this round, though we're officially (barely) in the enhanced area. Whatever happens will start about noon out west and move east. Anyone going up to Dallas etc. should keep an eye on it.
  19. It certainly can vary. I looked at NOAA U.S. data and the last the last 2 Januaries and Februaries (21 & 22) were below to well-below average. This March was way above, in fact the highest # in U.S. for any March ever (I don't have to tell anyone in Texas that), but last March was the lowest in 50 years. April is starting out about average (dep. on the source, avg. April tornadoes in U.S. anywhere from about 150-210 or so). There have been 77 confirmed through the first third of the month. (May is by far the highest month avg. in U.S.). Keep in mind as well that about 80% of tornadoes are EF-0 or 1. Anyway, "this year" might be "this March," but otherwise it's kind of normal if not a bit below for 2022 so far. Edit: Here in Bee Cave, where it always rains, we got a tenth last night.
  20. Gee, I wonder if something happened with Tiger in 2009? Strange that he's gone eleven years with only one big win. Did he change his swing or something? That must have been it.
  21. The music was so loud you couldn't hear Nance say shit. Un porpoise? That was funny!
  22. Crowd now heading out to the Strip Mall and the Thrift Store across the street.
  23. Next year's dinner - Three Amigos or Bill Miller, Bitches!!
  24. Yes but after 3 misses he finally rimmed it in.
