  1. Alright kids, let's not cloak this shit up. (BTW I was one of the 4% but I thought it said "Pudding".)
  2. Reminds me of the old campaign slogan: "Don't change dicks in the middle of a screw, vote for Nixon in '72!"
  3. Even this guy told them to fuck off:
  4. Yeah, I think China is definitely trying to put a lot of distance between them and this thing, while trying to walk the tightrope. No one will mistake them for Uncle Sam's BFF but they do need stiff trade to augment their shaky economy, and this is clearly a "best interests" thing for them. Whether it amounts to much, or isn't eventually overturned, we'll see. But man that's gotta hurt in the meantime.
  5. Good points, and of course I don't want to jump the gun or too broadly infer, but this seems to be a clear signal that China only goes so far. One thing China will never do, unlike Mad Vlad, is to jump into something because it tickles their balls. To quietly start lopping off Russian credits on about their only remaining good source of income is a subtle but decisive statement. Like you, I'm hoping that the Chinese are seeing the amazing unification of NATO Europe and a lot of new trade customers, and responding accordingly.
  6. Ho Ree Shit, China is now cutting off credits for energy sales from Russia. WOW! https://ca.news.yahoo.com/singapore-banks-halt-russia-commodity-101825480.html Singapore’s biggest banks are restricting trade financing for Russian raw materials, as the war in Ukraine spurs lenders in Asia’s largest energy and commodities trading hub to reduce exposure to the sanction-hit country. … DBS Group Holdings Ltd., Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp. and United Overseas Bank Ltd. have stopped issuing letters of credit involving Russian energy deals because of uncertainty over the course of sanctions, according to the people, who asked not to be identified as the information isn’t public. A choke on trade financing in a top commodities hub such as Singapore could snarl the trade of some physical cargoes and add further pressure to prices, even though the U.S. and European Union sought to exclude energy from the latest round of new sanctions. It’s not just Singapore, but China itself. Singapore is apparently responding to that signal: Lenders in the city-state, a key trading hub for commodities trade and finance in Asia, join at least two of China’s largest state-owned banks and some banks in Europe in restricting the ability to purchase Russian commodities. and... https://www.straitstimes.com/business/banking/bank-of-chinas-singapore-operation-stops-financing-russian-oil-trades-source Bank of China’s Singapore operation has stopped financing deals involving Russian oil and Russian companies, amid concerns of western sanctions following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, said a source on Monday (Feb 28) with knowledge of the matter. Bank of China did not immediately reply to requests for comment. … At least two of China’s largest state-owned banks are restricting financing for purchases of Russian commodities, underscoring the limits of Beijing’s pledge to maintain economic ties with one of its most important strategic partners in the face of Western sanctions. Although China put out some tweets this a.m. condemning sanctions against Russia, that seems to be theater, and China has acted to disassociate themselves a bit from this mess (toeing a bit more distanced line). This is like the shittiest news for what's left of Russian's energy economy (no politico/I wish the U.S. would get on board more to stop buying Russian oil - there are numerous ways around it, like a lot). Anyway, when your one last significant BFF kind of donkey punches you, you are fooked.
  7. You spelled piece wrong.
  8. Good bright, cheery morning! Anyway, could be these, although many other countries are quietly ok'ing this (or at least looking the other way), she was pretty out there with it - Liz Truss has said she would back UK vigilantes who want to travel to Ukraine and fight Russian forces. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on foreign fighters to travel to his country and take up arms in the battle against enemy forces. Asked by BBC journalist Sophie Raworth if she would support Britons doing this, Ms Truss said: “I do support that...that is something people can make their own decisions about. “If people want to support that struggle I would support them in doing that." Truss isn't the brightest bulb, but nothing particularly unusually inflammatory in those, and with the Russians looking for any excuse to save face, probably along those lines. They're just desperately trying to find an excuse to justify the worst invasion since Geraldo Rivera cracked open a vault. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/liz-truss-british-fight-ukraine-russia-b984892.html?itm_source=Internal&itm_channel=homepage_banner&itm_campaign=breaking-news-ticker&itm_content=3
  9. assuming and hoping this is a true story, from an AP reporter. Lol, bunch of brave Georgians sticking it to Russia, here's to 2008: Georgian oil tanker refuses to fuel a Russian ship. The Russians: "Leave politics aside! We just need fuel!" Georgians: "Russian ship, go fuck yourself. Glory to Ukraine! And you can always use oars, so, row!" — Fatima Tlis (@Fatima Tlis) 1645989778
  10. Anybody whoever went to Catholic School knows that this is not an exaggeration whatsoever. If we send 100 nuns over there they would probably take out 50,000 Russians before dinner time.
  11. Yeah, but apparently they have to shoot into the ground so they can pick up their bullets and use them again.
  12. I think it's this. He's getting up in age has had these delusions of grandeur since he was a kid and he's running out of time. Probably has enough yes man around him to confirm his wishes. Been a lot of fun lighthearted stuff in this thread along with good info but I do think things are getting serious; we're getting as close as we've been since 1962 to a nuclear conflict, even if it's "just" regional. I would like to hope that Putin isn't completely bonkers yet but a lot of foggy public Intel interp seems to be pointing that he's lost some of his marbles anyway. One extra thought, I wonder if Putin tells Zelinskyy at the table to lay down arms or he'll throw down tactical nukes (the old, "well kill your family if you don't relent" strategy).
  13. Putinn version of replacement: I do feel sorry for the guy though, he was skilled in the arts of war.
  14. Wouldn't that be Georg Luger?
  15. Just bought one of these babies before the rush for my flagpole (yes I have a flagpole): 2X3 though, pole is only designed for 1 flag, so I don't want to snap it in the wind. Still, shades of yellow ribbon days (remember those?) during Iraq I.
  16. Yup, footage obtained by on-ground reporters just 5 mins. ago. This is what they have left:
  17. 1936 agreement that gives Turkey the right to control the Dardanelles. They haven't wanted to use it until now. But it's legal, they have uniforms and everything. Also, (edit), the agreement means that Turkey is more or less obligated to keep the straits open but in times of war, can limit stays in the Black Sea to a week, and can actually forbid naval war (and other vessels) to go in/out. They're saying "we control the strait now"). NATO country facing Russian navy. Hoo boy, here we go.
  18. Yeah, it's a very religious country (Orthodox). Either that or they're just prepping for marriage.
  19. Keep crankin' out the bullshit, Vlad.
  20. Outside of Budpest, a few, but Budapest is absolutely freaking amazing. We spent a lot of time in hot baths, etc. When I was there last, the country was still sort of coming out of the Iron Curtain funk, and eating/nightlife weren't quite what they appear to be now. So I'm looking forward to it. And yes, everyone, and I mean everyone over there grows Paprika. Stereotype is true.
  21. I'm going to be in Hungary (among other countries) in September (assuming it's still there, and no I won't be pissed if I can't go/Joyless Behar) and the family has now pitched a short stint into Ukraine, probably to Lviv, and we'll go just to spend some $$. Hope we can make it. I'm mostly Hungarian by descent with a little Ukrainian thrown in (great grandpa, remember that night you got smacked on Vodka and went over the border to that Ukrainian bordello?...)
