  1. Arguing about a quarterback controversy here is like arguing over whether Roseanne Barr or Rosie O'Donnell is a more desirable lay. Please don't start on who the #1 should be. It's totally irrelevant. We suck beyond hope.
  2. Do we teach how to walk and run? Seems like we need that first.
  3. Texas is where college football goes to die.
  4. This Texas defense is trying its best to get out of the way of the Iowa State runners but they just keep bumping into them.
  5. Because not enough refs had flags for three holdings
  6. Let's hire a coach for one week and give him a one week extension for each win. So what if we go through 30 coaches in 2 years, it's fun and more entertaining than this shit.
  7. This is about when I'd tell my team that they can just go ahead and stick it out and orange slices and capri suns are waiting for them on the sidelines. and give little plastic game balls to everybody.
  8. Uh... Being a basketball school is not so bad?
  9. This would be a good time to talk about what everybody is going to have for Thanksgiving dinner.
  10. Looks like we're giving up right on time.
  11. Totally by accident. He was in LA looking for a business manager but mistakenly walked into probably Ken Kragen's (talent manager) office. Kragen was responsible for a lot of putting together the video. He recognized Aykroyd, who of course was very popular at the time, and Aykroyd said oh sorry I'm obviously in the wrong office. Kragen said hey, we're shooting a video down the hall with a bunch of music stars, you want to join them? Aykroyd said what the hell why not and went in. That was it.
  12. Yeah, didn't watch it but that was a real ass-kickin'. Carter no doubt is really pissed. But let's face it... LT is a bit down the past 2 years or so. Will they get back? Not sure, they got all the players when the area was growing and the school exploding in population. Maybe they will again.. not to say they're dogshit now but certainly not the teams of old.. though it's hard to get back to that level. As far as Westlake, my kid left LT 4 years ago so yeah, I don't watch as much, but... is this the best Westlake team ever? I do know that the past two years they've had size to go with speed, just a massive 6A squad. And you'd have to put Dodge in there as one of the top 2-3 Texas HFB coaches. Guy is amazing (BTW, I really enjoyed watching him play QB here when I first got to the 40... Dodge was the QB when the sea change in football (and here at Texas) began to shift to a more wide-open passing attack. He was the QB of the first team I saw as a student here, and he really could sling the ball. Just didn't have quite the cast. Anyway, I think it's kinda true that LT and WL aren't hated rivals - yet anyway - and I'll root for 'em in the playoffs more or less. But next year we're gonna kick your blue and red asses all over Garret Wilson/Squints Field and spit on the craters you're lying in. Meanwhile, have a good run!
  13. We just ran out of time... (proally worst LT loss since they were a sleepy little 3A school) Congrats.. and that said, enjoy your last win for a year or two after Todd walks into the sunset. A few more wins for you and we might actually have a rivalry .
  14. Don't be cloaking in here in the thread about how shitty the cloak room is. And no, don't close it. We need to keep being reminded of what a shitty place it is, without contracting a fatal disease of actually going in there. The cloak room is a terrible place.
  15. These really never are much good until about 6-7 days out, so we'll see what they do this weekend. I think they'll trend downward but not critically so (see above post).
  16. The thing about last year's (well, last Feb's) event is that the models, which 99% of the time moderate as you've said, got worse. Then the actual weather got worse than the models. Most people forget by now that the main reason why it got so bad is that NO model (I can remember anyway) predicted freezing temperatures before the main storm hit on Sunday night, but temps went < 32° on Thursday and never got above freezing. We had light bouts of rain or drizzle that froze and trucks, supplies, etc. couldn't go anywhere. Didn't take away from the main problem of natural gas lines freezing and all that horror, but the fact that people weren't able to get out and get food or propane or whatnot made a terrible situation twice as bad. If I were a betting man, (hah!) I would bet that a similar 9-10 day 24 hour freeze won't happen again in my our my kids' lifetimes here. But... that's why most bets lose. Edit: I get what you said about losing the cold before it comes back into the models (which is why I think it might actually get "down" to the 50's or possibly a little lower for this coming event), but really the huge, huge majority of them for Texas always moderate a lot warmer than the first crack like we're seeing in this one. Pretty Boy on KXAN said last night that he thinks that the super cold air won't come down here next week and that it'll be seasonable, and I agree. But, hey, our Magic 8 Balls only work some of the time. I doubt it'll happen, I mean really doubt, but will leave a 5% CYA.
  17. I dunno, where else can I get a car worth about $5,000 for $15,000?
  18. Latest is that the cold weather ain't coming anywhere near here. Of course last year we all laughed... .. but this ain't last year. However, the Farmer's Almanac forecasts a '21 style Iceageddon for January. We will see (rubs hands). This one? Maybe, possibly high 40's or 50's high, but so far most of the models ain't bitin'. I'll be back to gloat or take the Frankie Walk of Shame. Probably to gloat, tho, honestly...
  19. It does it for snow, and: 1) snow is sorta soft hail; and 2) some roofs are probably made so badly that snow will dent them Good luck!
