  1. Not sure what this means in this thread. Bee Cave has no authority over this project, or nothing to do with it. They can't do anything to foster nor stop it. Now if this is just a general sentiment, well since I live here, I can say, kinda sorta but not 100%.
  2. Actually, Bee Cave ETJ has been expanded and now the city limit is only about .9 miles from the intersection. SWPW/71 to Thomas Springs Rd. (official western boundary of Oak Hill) is about 1.59 miles. Not much closer, but yeah, Bee Cave is very close to this thing. Also, this thing was advertised in a business journal, so it's not yet a done deal. But seeing as it sits in the boondocks between Austin and Bee Cave might give them some leeway. Still, as was written in the quoted post, part of that tract is on the Barton Creek Nature Preserve, so I'm not exactly sure how they'd do it. They'd have to cross 71, make a quick right (the preserve boundaries are about 75 feet from 71, then go a hundred feet or so to open up to non-preserve land. That oughta be a lot of fun. Most of the land directly opposite the intersection is non-buildable/traversable in a vehicle. I agree, and kind of hope, they don't build it or at least in that configuration. Seems like a big ugly bump which isn't needed.
  3. OSU scored 25 offensive points. If I'm not mistaken, that's the most they scored all season offensively. They scored 31 against Kansas State but one of those was also a defensive interception for touchdown, making 24 offensive points. The rest were at least four or five points below that. And that included such powerhouses as Tulsa. They've gotten out of the twenties only twice Us & K-State. Our defense looked good by comparison mostly because Oklahoma State is not a potent offensive team this year it has a mistake prone quarterback (who BTW look like Tom Brady in the 4th quarter). But no, our defense is not good.
  4. Stop being such fucking pussies I dunno, looks pretty fun!
  5. This team should win at least 23 games this year, period (not even calling the NCAA seed/shot here). No if's and's or but's... this isn't rebuilding, this is supposedly a first-talent team with a first-talent coach ready to go. If not, I'll burn my little Bevo basketball player statue.
  6. If they don't go 2-0 from here, there's a decent chance you can move the tailgate into the end zone - during the game - for Kansas.
  7. Well, that wasn't Gundy doing a horns down or shit, just the loser poster. They deserve to have fun, they came in and outfought UT (gee, where did I hear that this year?). Gotta say for a man of (way over now) 40, that's some impressive Cossack leg shit at the end. If nothing else, he's in shape.
  8. ... and that's all folks, Pur-doo beats Hawkeyes on the road. Terrible loss, they should drop to like 15 but they'll probably go to like 9 because B1G HOLLA!
  9. More or less agreed. OSU defense was pinned back at that point, they looked tired and frankly concerned. They were losing any confidence - UT was moving almost at will. Then that play. Taylor (OSU safety) knew it even before it was called. It was obvious that they saw that tendency on tape. Man when he saw that formation he said, "oh goody, this is it!" and never hesitated. He'll be in the NFL without question, but he was obviously waiting for that play and knew it the second they came out in formation. Someone coached him. He also is a terrific tackler... a few plays before he met Bijan mano a mano at the LOS and drove him back 5 yards. You won't see that often.
  10. Posrep bolded, although I'd go with 25 (they start breaking down late 2nd quarter)
  11. I'm usually fickle and a frontrunner and love to be popular so I'm quick to jump into "fire the fkin coach" threads. But on this one I'll stand in front of, albeit weakly, Sark as the pitchforks come. It's patently obvious that he has very terrible players (or at least talented ones that fuck up a lot) and has nothing to adjust to. The 4th and 1 was rushed (his fault) but his feeling like he had to go was that he had nothing to turn to (i.e. swiss cheese D). And frankly, "give it to B" can work up until the O Line does it's fatigue-a-thon starting about 10 minutes into the 2nd quarter and going to the bitter end. Then he looks ordinary (though he isn't). Meanwhile, OSU's Lil' J gets 144 in the 4th quarter. That's not on the coach during the game (possibly during the week for conditioning). But the D Line is the most overrated thing since Al Capone's Vault and the rest of the D is borderline abominable. The only reason they got the INT is that Sanders threw those balls like Colonel Sanders - fried and greasy, and nowhere near the receiver. I can see where this guy has a lot of smarts, but he has shit to back him up. It's unfortunate, I think he's still a good coach. Now, I'll gladly move out of the way for the pitchforks if so, but hey, I tried to defend the guy here.
  12. I think we would both agree that, due to emotional disconnect or not, their behavior is weird at best and criminal at worst. I mean, who doesn't even return frantic texts by her parents asking them if they have any info (they haven't said one word to the Petitos), or essentially coolly and unemotionally dismissing FBI and other police inquiries (gosh, we don't know either!) rather than beg them for help. There's just a Boo Radley feeling with them. No public statements, no obvious signs of grief or distress (at him missing and/or being a murderer, whatever). Whether we'll really know or not why they're acting so bizarre might not happen, and there's nothing wrong with gardening to ease one's mind, but these people are - at least at this point without a good explanation - strange to say the least.
  13. I see your point, and as a matter of fact I do have 2 grown children (22 and 25). I get what you're saying a bit, but I would be very skeptical to think that the average sane parent wouldn't be almost in a fetal position with worry. This isn't Junior being late on car payments or being evicted from his apartment, it's murder. I think most people would also agree that, even when your kids are independent, being 25, 35, or even 45, there is an emotional attachment to them that never leaves. If they get in trouble, you feel it. If they have a terrible problem, ditto. Certainly you're not nearly as emotionally involved with them as when you were responsible for them, but it's there. This is the perfect example to bring up one of my favorite scenes in moviedom.. it's from Parenthood (which as a whole is okay, not amazing). But this scene is absolutely brilliant - well written and insanely well-acted by Jason Robards especially. He's the father of Steve Martin, and Tom Hulce (the "black sheep" son). Hulce has been into drugs and gambling, and even as a dealer. He got into gambling trouble with some loan sharks and owes them $26K - or else. Hulce asked Robards (who is understandably estranged from him, threw him out years ago, etc.) for the $ and Robards essentially tells Steve (the "good" son) that he's going to pay it. In this scence, Martin asks why in the world would you, and the response here is absolutely amazing and true - essentially, you never stop being emotionally tied to your kids... their highs or lows are yours - and it never ends. You can see the frustration he has with that, almost as if he wanted it to be untrue so he could just forget about the kid and sorry bitch, you made your bed... but he can't. It's worth the 3 minutes if you've never seen it (or don't remember it), esp. after 2:08 god what an acting job. Anyway, in their case, even if they're not all that attached to him their behavior is weird beyond comprehension IMHO.
  14. I dunno, but I mean these people are fucking nuts. Son is "missing" and/or a definite murderer and they're out there - gardening? WTF? I mean, ya gotta have a first-rate Scotts-approved yard, no matter what! Psychotic? I mean there is something wrong here... something really really WRONG here [John Winger]. Not too far to the next step, oink oink. Edit: Just read where the old man was out mowing the yard today. The grief must be unimaginable. Yeah, I guess to these two, they can't imagine it.
  15. Update: First, the round of rain we got this a.m. was actually predicted but I didn't put it in yesterday. Rest of today will be soupy, infrequent on/off light rain, one of those armpit kind of days. Second, here we go... the next 3 days should be a roller coaster of a few moderate/heavy rain periods, mostly overnight. The ingredients are really there for some heavy rain - the only reason flooding won't be bad is because this stuff will keep moving through. Explanation follows forecast. Today: again, periods of light to moderate, very brief rain, but more of just a humid, cloudy day. Wed: starts off dry, but a big complex of heavy rain should move in after dinner, last well into the night. Periods of moderate to heavy rain for most of us, a couple of severe storms, but not widely forecast. Thurs: rounds of significant rain early overnight, slowly taper off say by lunchtime. Fri: System sweeps out overnight, slow clearing - but front not quite through until overnight. Sat: Paradise (but breezy) - front goes by, drops temps well down into the 70's for high. Breezy enough to affect passing games Sat - maybe. Explanation: There's a big storm system swinging down from central Pacific coast. It's driving right for us. Pamela, a now Cat 2 hurricane, will be drawn to us by this low.. it'll rain out in SW Mexico and more or less shred apart, but all that moisture will stream right up our way. The bulk of this moisture will start to reach us tomorrow night (first round of rain). But when that low pushes in (overnight Wed to Thurs) it's gonna get a jump start of instability plus a ton more of moisture, which is going to ramp up the rain. The bulk of this clash will be out west of us, say between Lubbock and San Angelo, but the momentum and movement will bring a good amount of the result of this clash into ATX. NWS has flash flood watches Wed. night, where some 2-3 inches are expected here, about 4-6 west of Blanco into the Hill Country and west. However, 7+" are possible in any spot - including ours. With autumn systems like this, they're often big rainmakers. We won't be smack in the bullseye, but the bullseye can move. As I always say with stuff like this (which could be a next-to-nothing burger or Genesis 6, Part 2), watch the radar early. Then we'll know more or less where the bulk of it will go. This shouldn't be a widespread severe event, or an apocalyptic level flood, but with this very strong clash of two powerful lows, you gotta be on watch. More when the rain really is 'posed ta hit tomorrow.
  16. Dog has limped away (sprained his ankle). Sez needs more $ to fund search, that his "team" will continue. Why did I see this coming? https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2021/oct/11/dog-bounty-hunter-ends-search-brian-laundrie/
