  1. Part of the preventive replacement calculus depends on the potential damage a leak would cause. Mine are all in the attic (of a two story house and a three story townhouse), so replacing them just because they are old seemed to make a lot of sense. Bernard
  2. Nope. We didn’t go in any special entrance. We crossed Collins Street at Cowboy Way about 10:15 AM. We saw a huge clusterfuck of a line trying to enter that area with the big tent thingy outside the stadium. Veered left and walked around to the next stadium entrance which had exactly zero wait at all. None of this changes that fact that JerryWorld is the absolute worst place in the world to watch a football game. Bernard
  3. Maybe you did go in the wrong gate. We parked across the street in some used car/RV dealership. $40. At 10:00 AM. Ran into some friends tailgating in the parking lot. Stopped for a beer. Started walking to stadium about 10:10 AM. Looked at the game countdown clock upon entering the stadium. It read 45:00 until kickoff. Bought a beer. Took a piss. Arrived at our 300-level seats with 35:00 on the clock. Bernard
  4. JerryWorld is what you get when your design criteria is all about maximizing non-shareable revenue in accordance with the NFL’s revenue sharing agreement. That’s what the stadium is designed for. In this respect, it’s awesome (for Jerry’s bottom line). Creating an environment for fans to watch a live football game, was way, way, way down the list of priorities. Bernard
  5. Wasn’t me. Bernard
  6. Four day work week should be the norm. Bernard
  7. I bet Jesus (or his dad/self) was flying the UFO. Bernard
  8. Omar bagged up, yo. Bernard
  9. Yes. Cobalt. Are you unaware that Cobalt is a critical component in rechargeable batteries? Half of the world’s supply of cobalt is currently mined in the Congo. Apple, Samsung and Tesla prefer that you ignore this portion of their supply chain. http://fortune.com/longform/photographing-congos-cobalt-empire/ Bernard
  10. China did it. Congo has all the cobalt. Too many people though. Best to solve the people problem first. Lots of time to loot the resources later. Same playbook the Euros used to get at North America a few hundred years ago. Bernard
  11. Ephesus is nice, but Termessos is better. Do both. Thank me later. Bernard
  12. 25 years seems a bit light for a murder, but for a guy in his early 40's that's a big chunk of your life. Not sure how that translates into actual time spend in jail after adjustments for good behavior, etc. Also not sure when parole becomes and option. Bernard
  13. A friend’s son joined the Air Force. Deployed to Guam. His roommate stabbed him in the neck three times and killed him. 20 years old. Tragic. https://www.stripes.com/stabbing-death-of-airman-on-guam-deemed-a-homicide-1.520310 Bernard
  14. Good. Now convict his cunt of a wife. Bernard
  15. Just give a few bucks to someone in need and never look back. Hell, a few weeks ago I was in a good mood and gave $200 to the mentally challenged guy who’s always emptying trash cans and sweeping the floor around the section I sit in at the Texans games. I bought a $600 Honda for a guy who used to do odd jobs in the neighborhood where I owned a business. Dude lived in Houston and only had a bike. He crashed the shit out of it three weeks later. Did I care? Not one bit. He’s back to biking though. 🙂 As mentioned above, don’t make loans. Give gifts. It will make you happy. No one likes someone who is a bitch about money. Bernard

I was raised on Los Tios. Changed owners maybe a decade ago, which brought unwanted changes. Still kicks plenty of ass. Shocked to see El Real get mentioned even once here. I tried it once. Zero reason to return. Bernard
  17. Our babysitter got about $80/night a few years ago. She’s a cheerleader at LSU right now. Sorry, no pics Bernard
  18. Ge your own estimate and give it to the insurance company. Go pick out some new carpet and get a fully installed price. That way as soon the insurance company is ready, you’ll be armed with real data for the discussion. Bernard
  19. Wings keep floppin’, fools keep droppin’, up in B-C... Bernard
  20. Interesting Tidbit: While registering the serial numbers of my mom’s new AC for Goodman’s 10-year warranty I noticed it was manufactured exactly 8 days before being installed. Impressive logistics. Bernard
  21. Also, hopefully the job is in a good location. Find an apartment with convenient public transportation to the office. My GF had a bus right across the street from her building that took her downtown to the office in no time. Lose the car. Uber around town. Rent a car for road trips. Bernard
  22. This was two decades ago, but ... An old girlfriend of mine moved there for a job in her mid-20’s. Loved it. I visited her a time or two. As stated above, forget the starting salary. It’s all about the opportunity at that age. Bernard
  23. The 31 year old Payne AC unit at my mom’s rental townhouse just crapped out. New system going in right now. 3 tons. 14 SEER. New air handler with electric heat. Condenser delivered by crane to roof top. Goodman equipment. $4,200. The guy I’ve been using for years is now a Bryant (owned by Carrier) dealer. He recommended Bryant. I’m sticking with Goodman. Same price. Bernard
  24. I expect they would replace all the carpet attached to the damaged carpet, not just the damaged area. My mom had a fridge leak that damaged wood floors in a rather small area. Amica paid for new wood floors on her entire first floor. Bernard
