  1. JerryWorld is what you get when your design criteria is all about maximizing non-shareable revenue in accordance with the NFL’s revenue sharing agreement. That’s what the stadium is designed for. In this respect, it’s awesome (for Jerry’s bottom line). Creating an environment for fans to watch a live football game, was way, way, way down the list of priorities. Bernard
  2. Four day work week should be the norm. Bernard
  3. I bet Jesus (or his dad/self) was flying the UFO. Bernard
  4. Yes. Cobalt. Are you unaware that Cobalt is a critical component in rechargeable batteries? Half of the world’s supply of cobalt is currently mined in the Congo. Apple, Samsung and Tesla prefer that you ignore this portion of their supply chain. http://fortune.com/longform/photographing-congos-cobalt-empire/ Bernard
  5. China did it. Congo has all the cobalt. Too many people though. Best to solve the people problem first. Lots of time to loot the resources later. Same playbook the Euros used to get at North America a few hundred years ago. Bernard
  6. Ephesus is nice, but Termessos is better. Do both. Thank me later. Bernard
  7. 25 years seems a bit light for a murder, but for a guy in his early 40's that's a big chunk of your life. Not sure how that translates into actual time spend in jail after adjustments for good behavior, etc. Also not sure when parole becomes and option. Bernard
  8. A friend’s son joined the Air Force. Deployed to Guam. His roommate stabbed him in the neck three times and killed him. 20 years old. Tragic. https://www.stripes.com/stabbing-death-of-airman-on-guam-deemed-a-homicide-1.520310 Bernard
  9. Just give a few bucks to someone in need and never look back. Hell, a few weeks ago I was in a good mood and gave $200 to the mentally challenged guy who’s always emptying trash cans and sweeping the floor around the section I sit in at the Texans games. I bought a $600 Honda for a guy who used to do odd jobs in the neighborhood where I owned a business. Dude lived in Houston and only had a bike. He crashed the shit out of it three weeks later. Did I care? Not one bit. He’s back to biking though. 🙂 As mentioned above, don’t make loans. Give gifts. It will make you happy. No one likes someone who is a bitch about money. Bernard

I was raised on Los Tios. Changed owners maybe a decade ago, which brought unwanted changes. Still kicks plenty of ass. Shocked to see El Real get mentioned even once here. I tried it once. Zero reason to return. Bernard
  11. Our babysitter got about $80/night a few years ago. She’s a cheerleader at LSU right now. Sorry, no pics Bernard
  12. Ge your own estimate and give it to the insurance company. Go pick out some new carpet and get a fully installed price. That way as soon the insurance company is ready, you’ll be armed with real data for the discussion. Bernard
  13. Wings keep floppin’, fools keep droppin’, up in B-C... Bernard
  14. Interesting Tidbit: While registering the serial numbers of my mom’s new AC for Goodman’s 10-year warranty I noticed it was manufactured exactly 8 days before being installed. Impressive logistics. Bernard
  15. Also, hopefully the job is in a good location. Find an apartment with convenient public transportation to the office. My GF had a bus right across the street from her building that took her downtown to the office in no time. Lose the car. Uber around town. Rent a car for road trips. Bernard
  16. This was two decades ago, but ... An old girlfriend of mine moved there for a job in her mid-20’s. Loved it. I visited her a time or two. As stated above, forget the starting salary. It’s all about the opportunity at that age. Bernard
  17. The 31 year old Payne AC unit at my mom’s rental townhouse just crapped out. New system going in right now. 3 tons. 14 SEER. New air handler with electric heat. Condenser delivered by crane to roof top. Goodman equipment. $4,200. The guy I’ve been using for years is now a Bryant (owned by Carrier) dealer. He recommended Bryant. I’m sticking with Goodman. Same price. Bernard
  18. I expect they would replace all the carpet attached to the damaged carpet, not just the damaged area. My mom had a fridge leak that damaged wood floors in a rather small area. Amica paid for new wood floors on her entire first floor. Bernard
  19. I don’t think you, or any random licenced AC tech, can walk into Home Depot and walk out with a Trane AC system on your cart. HD is selling the whole package, installed by the installation company of their choice, not yours. It’s like buying granite counter tops at Home Depot. The guy in the store just types your name and address into the computer. Everything else is third party. Bernard
  20. Goodman is also made in Texas (near Houston) if that matters. Bernard
  21. My current house came with two expensive Trane systems. They break sometimes too. Trane replacements parts are also very expensive. No way in hell I’d spend that kind of money for AC. Goodman all the way. One of the benefits of Goodman is that they are sold to distributors who sell them to any licensed AC tech. Other brands are typically sold through a much tighter network of authorized dealers. Competition is a good thing, for consumers. Bernard
