  1. Forbes 400 includes 11 Houston Billionaires and excludes any poor Billionaires whose net worth falls below $2 Billion. Houston is a great place to live. It’ll be my home base, but my NetJets account will be used like my current Uber account. I won’t be here in August though. Ever. Bernard
  2. Is there a helipad near DKR-TMS? If I win $500 million after taxes, I'm prolly gonna skip that I-10 to 71 drive on Saturdays in the fall. Bernard
  3. You can price out any Goodman system here: https://www.acwholesalers.com/. Bernard
  4. This is a father-son outfit. Two guys. Two vans. Home office. No overhead. They are the labor. I’ve used them many times for myself, family and friends. Bernard
  5. Those prices are insane. My guy just installed two systems for two different friends for $3,500 each. 13 SEER, which is fine IMO. Didn’t include furnace. Goodman equipment. I put two Goodman systems in my house in 2007. No issues to this day. I put a Goodman system in my mom’s house in 1993. Still going strong, although I’ve replaced a few capacitors at minimal cost. PM sent. Bernard
  6. Most of them are scams. Rachel from Card Services isn’t really trying to get you to switch cards. She’s just trying to get you to give up your account details. Death penalty for robo calls is A-OK with me. Bernard
  7. All of the above. Use whatever is recommended for your specific vehicle. Bernard
  8. I’m assuming OP is not in the “HVAC world”. That’s why I asked for clarification. While we’re at it, Scottonian, how much was the quote? There’s no real answer to “how much can be negotiated”. It all depends who you’re dealing with. Some outfits charge an arm and s leg. Others charge much less. Bernard
  9. What size units do you need? Gas or electric heat? Bernard
  10. I pay my income taxes, which helps fund the $187 Billion Veterans Affairs line item in Trump’s proposed 2018 federal budget. I pay my property taxes, which subsidize disabled veterans like my PTSD-having former business partner who gets a 100% exemptions on his property taxes. Is that not enough? Bernard
  11. Yes. Math fail on my part. I thought 35 seemed old when I typed it. Bernard
  12. I'm sure he found time to enjoy his 414-foot mega yacht... ...along with it's two helicopters, submarine and glass bottom swimming pool. Bernard
  13. Dude quit MicrosSoft in 1983 at the age of 35 with fuck you money in the bank. Current net worth estimated at $20 Billion. He's had 30 years of a life that most folks cannot even fathom. Read up on his life and you'll see spent extravagantly to keep himself entertained and seemed to enjoy every minute of it. Bernard
  14. $75 each. Can meet somewhere in Houston to do the deal this week. Or meet in Austin on Saturday. Let's try this again. Someone always seems to want to buy my tickets right after they are sold on StubHub. Act faster this time. 🙂 Bernard
  15. When Medicare and Medicaid stop using taxpayer money to treat smoking related ailments we can continue this discussion. Until then, tobacco is being subsidized. Bernard
  16. A dachshund bit me in the face once when I was a kid. Result was a few painful scratches. I doubt that incident was included in anyone's estimated "rate of attacks, and or bites", which was my point. Any dog can bite you. With most breeds it a non-event. When a pit bull bites, people end up in the ER, or the morgue, and on the news. Bernard
  17. Why? For saving the dog from a shotgun blast? Because the dog killed cats that came into his fenced backyard uninvited? For walking his dog on a leash as required by City of Houston ordinance? For not saving someone else's unleashed dog in a fight that lasted like three seconds? For the record, the bull kicked the dog in the head before the dog went straight murderous. Also the record. I'm no fan of pit bulls. I don't think they are any more aggressive than other dog breeds. Any dog can bite you when provoked. The problem with pit bulls is their bites are often fatal. Bernard
  18. I bet that scrap of carpet really tied the shed together. Bernard
  19. CSB: Buddy of mine had a pit bull that killed a 500 lb bull while visiting his parents’ country place. Dad was mad. Dog survived only because son stood between dad’s gun and the dog. Dog later killed a couple cats that wandered into buddy’s backyard. Also killed an off leash dog while buddy was walking around the neighborhood with pit bull on a leash. Pit Bull’s name was Fred. 20. This. I assumed my AMEX Platinum would cover it like everywhere else. Should have read the fine print. Didn’t. They require a letter or some such shit. Cost me a couple hundred over nine days. Not the end of the world, but annoying. Read the fine print on your reservation. CSB: rented a Hyundai I-40 Wagon which is huge by Ireland standards. Shifter broke and stranded us on a ferry of all places. Company delivered a Hyundai I-10 to the ferry as a replacement. It was a clown car by comparison, especially for my 6’5” self and 5’10” GF. Bernard
  21. I haven’t been there yet, but the LBJ lawn seems like a family friendly set up for some pre game food, live music and beers. It’s a brand new set up this year. Alumni Center sounds like a nightmare. Also, I booked the brand new Fairmont for the USC game for $150/night on Hotwire. Quite nice. May have been a fluke, or maybe 1,000+ new rooms in downtown Austin has tipped the scales to a buyers market. Bernard
  22. Leave the kids at home. Go the game and fun with your GF, wife, special lady friend, etc. The kids can go to the game when there’re in college like everyone else. Bernard
  23. Been there for 14 wins. Loved them all, but you always love your first: 1989. Bernard
